Capítulo 1411: Interrogation

Nathan and Evelyn had arrived at the prison, looking at the chained left guardian. His body was a mess.

All his fingernails had been pulled off. A few of his teeth had also gone, leaving behind enough teeth to speak. His right eyeball was present on the table to their right.

There were many more gruesome sights if they lowered their gaze even further. Yet, despite everything they had done, the left guardian remained tight-lipped.

“I’m sorry, Your Majesty.”

“He hasn’t opened his mouth the whole time.”

The emperor maintained his resolute face as if he weren’t bothered by the sight or the smell. He said, “It looks like we have no choice but to go with a unique method.”

The emperor contemplated for a moment before nodding his head. There was no other choice.

If the left guardian were still alive, he would definitely hold a grudge. Besides, the death of their experts had to be explained as well, so he already planned to kill the left guardian after he got the confession.

If his death could be exchanged for his confession, it would be good.

The emperor turned to Nathan. “You may proceed. However, I’d like the two elders to remain. Is that alright?”

Nathan nodded. They would use Anubis and Mae’s powers, not his Soul Contract, so it would be fine to let the elders stay.

Originally, he had used the illusion to trick them into signing the contract, but with Mae’s mastery of illusion, there was no need to do so anymore.

Nathan summoned Mae and Anubis at the same time.

“!!!” The two elders were flustered by their appearance. Mae was one thing, but the one that scared them the most was actually Anubis. Anubis was in his normal form, so it was weird to see a beast as a familiar.

However, there was no need to explain it to them, and it wasn’t like they were going to question him either, especially after they saw Anubis’ humanoid form. They would just think he was a shapeshifter.

“In that case, let’s kill him.” Nathan nodded with a serious expression. He extended his hand and activated his Space-Time Prison. He formed this prison around his neck and compressed it, which resulted in the bursting of the neck.

The elders were quite shocked. This was the first time they had seen something so tricky. What did they just actually witness?

They wanted an answer, but it was probably better to ask the emperor later.

“Anubis. Mae. Let’s begin.”

Anubis nodded and activated his domain.

The cold prison room suddenly crumbled, revealing a golden room.

“This is… domain?!” The emperor gasped while looking around.

The two elders, on the other hand, raised their guards as they saw Anubis growing larger and turning into his humanoid form.

“This is Anubis’ power. He will be presiding at today’s court.” Nathan smiled before pointing at the scale of justice. “This scale will measure his sin. If he refuses to answer, the scale of justice will still calculate that sin, whether it’s good or bad.”

“Oh!” The emperor nodded in understanding. “So, that’s why you tell us you can get a confession by using a simple yes or no question.”

“Indeed.”

However, the two elders had noticed something that the emperor didn’t realize. The whole time, the left guardian’s soul had been unresponsive.

They thought the left guardian would explode now that he was freed, but they realized the left guardian’s soul had been shrouded by another power.

When they tracked that power, it would lead them back to Mae.

They never thought this young man was this capable. They were convinced that Anubis was a divine being, as Nathan originally introduced.

Nathan smiled. “Since this is your prisoner, how about asking the questions first?”

The emperor raised his eyebrows. He didn’t really know the full power of this domain, but he remembered the five questions that had been written in the contract before.

Hence, he tried it again. “What is the name given to you by your parents?”

Mae placed her hand on Andreas’s head while whispering, “Answer the question.”

“Andreas Excel,” answered Andreas with a monotonous voice.

“!!!” The two elders were surprised. It seemed the accusation was true, but they were still a bit skeptical, considering the possibility of illusion.

“Have you made any contact with the members of the Death Society? If you have, please tell me about the type of contact and when.”

“I have not.”

“!!!” It was the emperor’s turn to be surprised. Did they catch the wrong person?

Nathan raised his hand, asking a question so as to not make them doubt the credibility. “Have you assisted the Death Society?”

“I have.”

This time, they were confused rather than surprised. He had assisted the Death Society but hadn’t made any contact.

It didn’t match up.

“What’s going on?” The emperor frowned.

Nathan pondered the question that could answer that question. “How do you assist the Death Society?”

“By using the black cell.”

With that answer, the dots were starting to connect.

The emperor immediately demanded, “Explain!”

Andreas fell silent, so Nathan turned his demand into a question. “How do you use the black cell?”

“Godfather can listen to any voice in this world, including the voice of the Black Cell.”

“Do you have a black cell with you? Or maybe with your familiar?”

“My familiar has it.”

Nathan nodded in understanding. “So that’s how it is. The reason he didn’t have any contact with the Death Society must be that he really never had any contact with them. His contact is the black cell.

“He must be feeding the information to his familiar, who has the black cell. And the black cell transmitted that information to the so-called Godfather.”

“That makes sense…” The emperor rubbed his chin. After seeing how Nathan did the questioning, the emperor tried to imitate him. “Is Spider, aka Lithia Excel, your family?”

“Yes.”

The emperor smiled, finally understanding how to proceed. “If she is your family, surely you have made contact with her, right?”

“I have.”

“In that case, why did you say you haven’t made any contact with the Death Society?”

“Because the last time I contacted her, she hadn’t become a part of the Death Society.”

The emperor grew excited. “I’m getting good at this. Let me continue then.”
