Chapter 1405: Coaxing the Empress
With the emperor’s help, the empress was called into the meeting chamber.
“Your Majesty.” The empress politely bowed. She saw Nathan, Evelyn, and Johnson standing on the side.
The empress sensed something was off. She couldn’t help asking, “May I know what is going on? Why am I being called here?”
Instead of Nathan or anyone else, it was the emperor who was persuading her. He came to her and put his hand on her shoulder. “It’s nothing much, my wife. Actually, I’m thinking about adopting a certain weapon that might help the dynasty.”
“Really?” The empress understood what was going on. It looked like the case was similar to the cloud-repelling device. The weapon was provided by Nathan. Since Nathan had become closer to Johnson, Johnson represented him instead of Marquis Lindwurm.
The empress whispered, “But won’t this be a bad idea? If we are too reliant on one person…”
The emperor smiled mysteriously. This smile was the answer to the empress.
Thanks to how close they were, the empress figured out the answer herself. ‘So, that’s how it is. That man came from another continent, so it might be best to keep him on this land. Does my husband plan to make him the next emperor? I have heard a few rumors from the empire, but I guess he has calculated everything.
‘It’s not like my husband is a fool. While I do want my children to be the next emperor, if there is a much brighter one, it might not be a bad idea as well. Besides, it’s not like I only have a son.
‘Besides, the dynasty can remain strong because the power of the Erwih family is extremely deep.’
The empress nodded her head and asked, “May I know why you called me here?”
“The reason is here.” The emperor guided her to the table where the contract had been laid down. “I want you to sign this contract.”
“Hmm?” The empress was confused. “I don’t understand the contract. Not our language?”
“Yes, it’s written in their language. However, I have confirmed everything.” The emperor pointed at the contract as if he were reading the words one by one, but he was just making up the contract.
“So, you can actually read this language?”
“Don’t you know my Heavenly Ability? They possess an ability that can translate the spoken language, but my Heavenly Ability is able to see the written language.”
“Oh!” The empress nodded, believing the emperor. “Still, are you sure about letting me handle this?”
“Of course.”
The empress squinted her eyes for a moment. The emperor was not a fool. There was no way he would be threatened in the imperial palace. And he wasn’t the type of person to be taken advantage of.
In other words, the contract must have significant value to him.
As his wife, the empress nodded her head and signed the contract. “Is this enough?”
“Enough, enough.” The emperor smiled. He extended his hand to the side. “By the way, Nathan would like to ask a few questions if you don’t mind.”
The empress nodded. As they approached Nathan and the others, the empress asked politely, “May I know what you’d like to know?”
“Thank you for agreeing to answer my question. I only have five simple questions if you don’t mind, Empress.”
The empress nodded as Nathan continued, “First of all, I’d like to confirm something. What is the name given to you by your parents?”
The empress furrowed her eyebrows. “Is this really your question?”
“My wife.” The emperor patted her back with a smile. “I have confirmed all the questions. It’s not really a big deal.”
“If you think so.” The empress sighed and answered Nathan’s question. “I am Jevanya Vhaskura Le. That’s the name my father gave me.”
Nathan nodded. “Have you made any contact with the members of the Death Society? If you have, please tell me about the type of contact and when.”
“!!!” The empress widened her eyes, not expecting this question. She turned to the emperor, who actually nodded his head. “I’m going to demand an explanation from you after this.”
“Yes, yes.” The emperor smiled wryly.
The empress fell silent for a moment before answering, “I have made two contacts with the members of the Death Society. The first one is during the execution of Maria Skin. The second one is after following my esteemed father to the battlefield, where we encountered the fleeing Alex Tear during the purge.”
“Thank you. Let’s continue. Do you have any collaborations with the Death Society?”
“No.”
“Is the Death Society your ally?”
“No.”
“What do you think about the Death Society?”
“Filth of the world.”
Nathan’s expression turned calm as he nodded his head. “Thank you for answering my questions.”
“So…” The empress glared at Nathan before turning her head to the emperor.
The emperor smiled wryly. “The magic weapon is real, but the contract is not. Take a look.”
The emperor pointed at the table, where the empress could see the contract gradually disappearing.
“What’s that?”
“Heavenly Ability.” The emperor answered without any hesitation. “With that contract, you are unable to hide the truth or lie. Johnson and I have tested the power.”
“You don’t trust me?” The empress frowned.
“I trust, I trust. There’s no way I don’t trust you, but I want to assure him that we don’t have anything to do with that group. I also took it.” The emperor smiled wryly.
“Is this the cooperation you are talking about, Johnson?” The empress turned to Johnson this time.
Nathan tilted his head in confusion while Evelyn explained in a low voice. “There’s actually a cooperation between us and the empress to find out the truth. That’s why she is the first one to be called here. We believe she is innocent.”
“…” Nathan smiled wryly.
“Please listen to me, Your Grace.” Johnson’s face turned pale.
“My dear…” The emperor was sweating.
The empress’ eyebrows twitched, but there was a reason she had become an empress and why the emperor trusted her so much. Despite such accusations, she regained her composure fast.
Before speaking another word, she actually took a deep breath and assessed the situation clearly.
“So, you want to find the mole? You should have told me. I have some evidence that gives me 70% confidence that this person is a mole. In fact, if you tell me, we can just stage a play to capture him.” The empress let out a long sigh.
All of them were suddenly dumbfounded.
The empress just gave a side glance to the emperor. “What? You might steer this dynasty, but who do you think handles the details? Me.”
“Yes, yes. My wife is supreme.” The emperor gulped down. He feared that he would be sleeping on the couch for a while because of this.
