Capítulo 1398: Dead
The battle itself was one-sided. Nathan previously fought three assassins at the same level with only a few familiars and even clashed with Frequency at the same time. And he wasn’t as strong as he is now.
In the enclosed space, Nathan could overpower his opponents quickly. In addition, he was the one taking the initiative this time, meaning that his divine beasts had made some preparations before.
That was why Qilin was able to contain their power while Melissa prevented anyone from escaping.
If not for this preparation, the battle might end up becoming a bit more chaotic, but the result would remain the same.
Still, the summoners under Johnson witnessed this fight in awe.
“Is this really his power? If I’m not mistaken, Sir Johnson told us that this guy is like… what? 18 years old or 19 years old? Is this truly what a summoner of his age is capable of?”
“If that’s true, then our dream might come true. The Death Society can definitely be defeated.”
“Yes. Even Evelyn is his fiancee, right? There are also strong summoners at his side. If we combine all our powers, we might be able to kill them all.”
“Our revenge… Our revenge… It has been so many years… Even if they tell me that I have to wait for another one or two years, I’ll be willing. Because I know that this person will grow his strength further.”
“But are these truly his familiars? I have never seen someone who has familiars that are not humanoid.”
“Some of them might look humanoid, but they are shapeshifters, right?”
“Does this mean he is a summoner who is different from anyone else?”
“A beast summoner. He is truly special.”
“I don’t care how special he is. He wishes to destroy the Death Society. Since our wishes align, I will support him with everything I have.”
“That’s true. I don’t need to question how he has all those familiars. I don’t care much about them. In fact, unlike all of you, I have sworn to follow my family after this revenge.”
“Are you going to commit suicide?”
“I don’t care. What I’m trying to say is, who cares about the helpers? Even if the devil offers me help in exchange for my soul, I’m still willing.”
“True. I’m willing to sell my soul to the devil as long as I can get my revenge.”
They couldn’t help but tear up, thinking that their revenge could finally be accomplished.
Meanwhile, Nathan remained focused on the battle. Even though the enemies were weaker than him, he didn’t plan to hold back unless he had a good enough reason.
He simply killed all the people he could spot, especially the two leaders.
The battle itself didn’t take more than thirty minutes. It showed how overwhelming Nathan’s power was.
His familiars were treating it as if it was to be expected. In the eyes of bystanders, it looked like a battle between one powerful summoner against a lot of summoners. However, in their eyes, it was just a bunch of gods bullying some mortals. If they couldn’t overwhelm them, they should feel ashamed instead.
As soon as the last summoner died, Melissa said, “You don’t mind if I’m wandering around, right? I want to check the inside. Although I’ve heard about the cult, I want to see exactly what they’ve done.”
“You might have to dig it out, though.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine.”
“In that case, I won’t accompany you. I will interrogate these two people first. According to Anubis, we don’t have much time, so I will just ask a few questions and teleport to the others to try interrogating them.”
Melissa nodded. “Yes. I’m going to hear about it later anyway.”
Melissa immediately leaped into the ruined base, while Nathan raised his hand, signaling the four helpers to come to his side.
“I’m going to proceed with interrogating the dead. I hope that you can handle the other things. I only need three to five minutes.”
“Yes, sir!” The four of them nodded and spread out. Still, the one who was the closest to his position couldn’t help but take a few glances.
Since Nathan approached the base and even glanced at him, Anubis immediately returned to his original form and accompanied him.
“It’s going to be a simple interrogation. We will first confirm everything by asking his name.”
“Sure. You can lead the entire process.” Anubis agreed without hesitation.
Anubis activated his power to recall the souls of the two leaders while Mae used her illusion to put them in a dreamlike state where they could only state what Nathan wanted.
Nathan asked, “What is your name?”
“Jayda.”
“Jinda.”
The twins answered with blank eyes.
“Have you gotten in contact with the Death Society?”
“Yes. Sir Alex Tear graced us with his presence a month ago.”
Nathan paused for a moment. “What were you discussing?”
“We were discussing collaboration, which would make our place a vassal of the Death Society?”
Nathan immediately continued, “What is their objective?”
“We don’t know.”
Nathan crossed his arms and chose to end this interrogation with three more questions. “In that case, do you know how to find Alex Tear?”
“No, he told us that if he wanted to find us, he would come.”
“That’s right.”
“Did he tell you how to join the Death Society?”
“He told us that as long as we showed our capability, we could go to a certain place and get recruited as members.”
“A certain place?” Nathan raised his vision. “What is that place?”
“Kraekerin Temple.”
Nathan furrowed his eyebrows. He had never heard of this place, but it didn’t seem he could find the mole this way. It was clever to use a temple name to avoid sharing this precious information.
‘I guess we can’t find the information in a normal way. That person can cover themself to not give away his or her identity, so it will be troublesome to search for them.
‘But at least we got the place. I should check others as well, or they might give me false information.’ Nathan sighed. He knew that the Death Society would most likely change their approach after knowing about him.
While he was stuck with the interrogation, Melissa was simply bowing to the ruined base as if she was paying her respects to the people who had died in this cult.
