Capítulo 1388: Promise
“Not fair. You have forgotten about me.”
“But aren’t you still working on the printing machine?” Nathan smiled wryly.
“I’m done with the first step. Besides, thanks to this advancement, we have gotten another idea.”
“Another idea?”
Luna looked away and pouted as if she didn’t want to tell it.
“Sorry, sorry. I will make it up to you, alright?” Nathan admitted defeat. He had promised her to spend some time discussing the characters from Gratzel after all.
Luna could only sigh. “Well, I know this is going to happen sooner or later. After all, you will have multiple wives. However, it’s not nice to forget your promise.
“But that’s enough for the lecture. You have been lectured multiple times ever since you returned here, so I’m not planning to add another one. I know you are busy, but I just hope that you will at least remember the promise and tell me if you are not going to make it. It’s better to be disappointed because of certainty than to wait out of hope.”
“I understand. Sorry for that.”
Luna nodded. “Anyway, the first phase has been completed. And I have asked for the characters and symbols from Evelyn. I should be able to finish them in two weeks.
“As for the new idea, I’m thinking about standardizing the actual writing by using a machine.”
“What do you mean?”
“In the printing machine, we create a mechanism where the characters will be stamped onto the paper, right? And by positioning the ink correctly, you can create it fast.
“If we use the same principle, we can probably create something from scratch. For example, by attaching it to a certain key, if we press that key, the certain character will be stamped onto the paper.
“Then we will use a small spring to make it return to its original place. We will allow all the symbols and the characters to be able to do the same thing. This way, we can write something by pressing keys rather than writing manually.
“This will standardize the writing. It might not replace the importance of the actual writing, but it can ease the requirements for the common people. It will also help in various areas.”
“Hmm…” Nathan was quite surprised by the idea. Because it reminded him of a typewriter. As much as he wanted to bring the technology from Earth here, he was like most modern humans on Earth, he didn’t know much about the principles behind it. In the end, he was still a student back then. He didn’t have extensive experience or knowledge of a specialized field.
He could use his logic to a certain extent, but there was a limit to it. Even the printing machine design only had 20% of his idea, and the rest was completed by Vivian, Luna, and Gran.
In fact, there was one question that kept bothering his mind. It was also the biggest reason he couldn’t really bring any modern technology here.
‘How does one create electricity? People always call it a steam engine whatsoever. I know that the steam engine is just burning fuel to heat water to produce steam, which will move the turbine. But how in the world does a turbine generate electricity? Generator? How does one create a generator? How does it even work?’
To put it simply, Nathan didn’t have complete knowledge, so it would be hard for him to bring out the technology. If it were just a simple mechanism like a waterwheel, he could probably suggest it.
But a more complex technology wouldn’t be possible.
Nathan only nodded his head. “You can try. I think that idea is good.”
Still, if it was something he could understand a bit, he would give his suggestions. “What do you think about this? If you press a certain key, the paper will move slightly to the right, which will become the spacing between each character. Then, once it reaches a certain point, you can drag it back to the left side, which will slightly push the paper up so that it will automatically continue to the next line.”
“Oh!” Luna nodded a few times. “That might work. Although it’s still an idea, I think the concept will work. It just needs some touches to create the blueprint. It might still take some time to reach that point, but it’s doable.”
Nathan felt relieved. Only geniuses like Luna, Melissa, and Vivian could complete the idea he had in mind.
“Either way, do you have a plan for today?”
“I am not entirely sure. I will probably talk to Evelyn for a bit and maybe spend the rest of the day absorbing the cores we get during the trip. I am still waiting for the complete reports about the cults and their locations.
“Once we get it, we will start taking them down one by one and ultimately lure out the Death Society.”
“How long are you going to stay on this continent?” Luna asked.
“Twelve months. It’s been 7 months, so 5 more months. We’ll launch a final assault in five months. However, I still have no plan for the Eleren family. I have asked Neyeid to investigate the Eleren family first to know how to approach your family’s problem,” explained Nathan, showing that he still remembered the promise regarding the Eleren family.
Luna nodded, satisfied. “In that case, you should get stronger fast. Your power and control alone have exceeded a normal crystal armor stage summoner. Just a bit more, and you should be able to become a crystal fusion summoner.
“Still, with all the cores we have gathered, you should be able to reach 10 million ena, right?”
“Yes.” Nathan had reached that level before, but he didn’t notice anything. Most of the time, his contract would be upgraded at a different level from his familiars’ divinity. So, he maintained 5 million ena for the time being and gave the rest to his familiars.
But with the large number of cores they just got, he might want to get to this level and maintain it this way. Then, he might even push one or two familiars to this level so that he could use crystal fusion with them.
The medicine would be able to speed up his progress.
Nathan nodded. “Alright. I might not be able to spend so much time with you and the others for the time being, but I will still get my breakfast, lunch, and dinner together with the rest.”
Luna agreed. This way, he could still spend some time with others, which was good enough for her.
