Capítulo 1373: Another Dream
“Ha… Ha…” Nathan panted heavily. His eyes were already fuzzy.
“I could finally return. How many aliens did I kill again?” Nathan muttered, his body staggering just to reach the teleportation circle on the back.
His body was covered in blood, his right arm was broken, and his internal injuries were so bad that he could collapse at any moment.
“I hope that everyone managed to withstand the onslaught. I should have destroyed all the most dangerous enemies, so they should have the capability of destroying the rest…”
That was what he thought, but when he reached the teleportation circle and activated it, the reality couldn’t have been any more different.
He teleported to the capital city of the Azilia Kingdom. But the first thing he noticed was screams everywhere.
“Help.”
“Help me!”
“Nooo!”
“I don’t want to die.”
“!!!” Nathan rubbed his eyes, as his ears couldn’t believe what he heard. But the horrifying nightmare flashed in front of him.
The entire capital was engulfed in flames. Numerous aliens had just destroyed the capital city.
“No, no, no, no, no, no…” Nathan shouted, his voice cracking. He dragged his body to the burning castle to see what was going on.
All the aliens standing in front of him died without being able to do much. Even in that condition, Nathan could kill everything in his way.
In the throne room, he found something he couldn’t believe.
There were corpses everywhere with their blood splattered around the room. It had been completely destroyed.
Nathan’s face turned pale as he looked around while shouting, “Flora! Flora! Where are you?!”
It was there that he stumbled upon a corpse, a corpse that he could recognize.
Noelle’s lifeless body was lying on the ground. Both of her arms were severed, and there was a huge hole in her chest.
Nathan’s heart sank as he hurried to find a person, and there she was. Lying among other corpses, she wore the king’s mantle, tears and blood mixed on her face.
“No, no, no, no… Flora!” Nathan’s heart was torn into pieces. His body lost its power as he dropped to the ground. Tears were streaming down his face.
A fragment of memory flashed in his mind.
‘Flora Vietta Ezelia. After witnessing the power of Azathoth, I know that humans couldn’t beat him alone. All humans have to unite under one banner to defeat such an opponent. So, I will have to approach her…’
That was his intention. Even if he had to sell his talent and become her groom, he would do it so that he could unite all humans, starting from the Azilia Kingdom.
It happened so fast, but what he didn’t expect was that without him realizing it, he had fallen for Flora.
The last fragment he could see was when they were standing in the middle of a flower field. Flora suddenly picked a bright yellow flower.
“Nathan. Do you know that my blond hair is often compared to this flower? I often felt it was an insult, but I could finally understand why people say that when you love someone, even the worst food can taste so delicious. Ever since you said you like my blond hair because the sunlight makes it glow like this flower, I just can’t help but smile when people compliment me with this flower.”
Nathan’s eyes lost their light, looking at the terrifying image in front of him. His world felt like it had lost its color.
“Am… I… dreaming…? To think… I could… see you… for one… last time.” Suddenly, Flora opened her mouth.
“!!!” Nathan widened his eyes and held her. “Flora. Flora!”
“Nathan…” The corner of her lips curved a bit as she mustered the last bit of energy she could.
“Don’t say anything. I’m going to bring you away and make sure you recover!”
“I’m… sorry… It looks… like… I can’t… keep… my promise… anymore.”
“No, no, no… Flora!” Nathan remembered one promise with her. After falling for her, he made one promise. Ever since the volcanic eruption, he could never compliment her with the flower anymore because the flower had died and the sunlight never came down anymore.
So, he promised her that they would take another walk on that flower field again, slipping that flower in her hair so that both of them could shine brightly.
But that promise could never be fulfilled.
Nathan tried to channel his energy to her, but it just made him feel her heartbeat stopping completely.
“NOOOOOOOOO!”
“!!!” Nathan suddenly opened his eyes and rose from the ground. When he looked around, he saw his familiars gathering around him. Regina and Luna were not far from him, while it seemed that Evelyn had been taking care of him the whole time.
“Nathan…” Evelyn tilted her head in confusion. She wanted to feel relieved that Nathan had woken up, but she saw something that confused her more than relieved her.
She stretched out her hand and wiped his tears with her thumb. “Why are you crying?”
“Crying?” Nathan blinked his eyes a few times before rubbing his eyes, realizing that he was indeed crying.
He once again saw a fragment of the original Nathan’s memory. That memory could mean a lot of things.
This was probably the first time he had felt so affected by the memory. Even during other dreams, he could keep his calm. If it was about deaths, he had seen three people die before, one of whom seemed to be his disciple.
But all of them were people he didn’t know.
This time, he saw Noelle and Flora. Mixed with the emotion from the original Nathan, he ended up getting influenced for the first time.
“I… just had a nightmare…” Nathan could only explain it this way. At first, he thought he wanted to know about the original Nathan, but after this dream, he couldn’t help but hesitate.
‘The fragment of the original Nathan… This memory… should I really take it? If it really can influence me, once I see all the memories… once I see all the experience he has, losing people for who knows how many times… can I really keep my sanity? No…’
Nathan clutched his head as he asked inwardly, ‘Can I still be myself?’
