Stuck in a Chinese novel - Chapter 569
Chapter 569: DO NOT READ
Chapter 483
Wei Jun woke up the next day at dawn, refreshed and ready to get to work. He got up and did his morning routine, showered, and then got dressed in his walk-in wardrobe. When he came out of the wardrobe, he found two young black haired women still sleeping peacefully, and looking at them made him smile.
Still, he didn’t disturb their sleep and went down the stairs. Since everyone was supposed to be asleep at that time, Wei Jun cooked himself some breakfast and was about to leave when Lao Chen caught sight of him exiting the kitchen.
“Good morning, Young master. May I summon a cook?” Lao Chen asked.
“No.” Wei Jun replied before he added, “I’ve already eaten. Do prepare something for the rest, though.”
Lao Chen was taken aback by Wei Jun’s answer, but without daring to ask a question, he simply nodded in assent and replied, “Yes, Young master.”
Wei Jun also nodded in return and went to his office. There was still quite a bit of time before Li Wei was to report him, so Wei Jun began to check some of the files that he had asked Yue Peng to send him. Although he had transferred all businesses to Lin Ruan, Yue Peng, and Li Wei’s care, he was still the owner.
And being a businessman by blood, he couldn’t help but be a workaholic sometimes. Since now he couldn’t raise his level unless he were to kill the current protagonist, as proven by how he had destroyed Xin Huatao’s public image, yet he hadn’t gained anything in return, Wei Jun knew focusing on anything like that was useless.
There used to be the core solidification, but even that was now unnecessary since he had already become the perfect body of death. There was no need for a core solidification anymore, nor was there a need for assimilation.
All that was left for him was to kill the current protagonist. It wouldn’t complete the quest, but he was sure he would be able to, at the very least, gain some levels.
Buried in work, he didn’t notice the passage of time when Li Wei entered his office to report to him.
“Morning, boss.” Li Wei greeted him.
“Morning.” Wei Jun replied.
“Usually secretaries arrive before the bosses.” Li Wei remarked.
“Consider this a rare case.” Wei Jun replied.
“You seem to be in a good mood. Can I get rewarded since you’re like that?” Li Wei asked in a teasing voice.
“No.” Wei Jun quipped before he asked, “Check these for me with the others. Tell them to make these substitutions.”
Li Wei’s playful demeanor ended the moment Wei Jun gave her a task. She took the file and gave it a read, and couldn’t help but be surprised. She thought they were handling the businesses quite well in Wei Jun’s absence, but as it turned that wasn’t the case.
When Li Wei gave the file a read, if they were to make those substitutions and follow them down to a dot, they would be able to increase their revenue by ten to fifteen percent. It wasn’t much, one would think, but when you were earning at the very least a hundred billion a month, the story changed quite a bit.
“Boss, these are…” Li Wei was speechless. She couldn’t find the right words to relay her astonishment.
“Meet with the two of them and plan them out. Also, these are the new movie ideas. Have them prepared as well.” Wei Jun said as he handed another file to Li Wei.
“Movies? Is Xia Lu gonna be working?” Li Wei asked.
“Up to her. When you hold the auditions, though, do call me.” Wei Jun replied.
“Yes, boss.” Li Wei replied.
“And finally…” Wei Jun gave her one last file. As Li Wei checked it, her eyes popped out of her skull.
“Boss… This… how…” Li Wei was confused.
“A private army is a bit of a stretch, but it doesn’t matter when we already have an army.” Wei Jun replied. Some from the military and some from the sect, many were willing to follow him, and many were willing to join his private organization.
Of course, to train them, massive revenue was required, but Wei Jun was confident they could make it. After all, dungeon raiding was a lucrative business, and Wei Jun and his allies couldn’t raid low-level dungeons that were also very profitable.
“Call it a guild. It’s an idea from a game.” Wei Jun replied.
“What game?” Li Wei asked.
‘Ah, right. Those types of games haven’t been introduced here yet.’ Wei Jun remembered how boring a world it was. Still, he shook his head and replied, “Nothing.”
“Give the command of the guild to Mark, and make Xing Xiaomei the vice president. Below, then, would be master level cultivators, but they wouldn’t be hired, but our own trained. Same with grandmasters if we train any. As for the lower-level ones, let them be selected by recruitment or applications. We can’t be bothered for them, but all those in command and near sensitive information would be our own people.” Wei Jun gave very detailed instructions.
Li Wei couldn’t help but admire Wei Jun once again.
Not only were his plans pipe dreams, but he had also prepared contingencies against information leaks. Information leak in this sense would be if someone wanted to either copy their idea and begin their own operation or sabotage their work through spies, since they couldn’t just filter everyone upon recruitment.
“Do I need to discuss with Yue and Lin?” Li Wei asked. Wei Jun cocked an eyebrow at how close they were if they were on first name basis but Wei Jun simply ignored that and nodded his head, “Yes. They’ll be the ones, along with you, handling the administrative tasks. Xing Xiaomei is hopeless in that sense, and Mark’s expertise lies somewhere else.”
“Understood, boss.” Li Wei replied and waited for a bit, but seeing there was no other file coming, she had to ask, “Is that it, boss?”
“Yeah.” Wei Jun replied, ending the topic so far, but he didn’t dismiss Li Wei.
“What about the project?” Wei Jun asked.
“As you had instructed me, I’ve already set up everything. Everything is ready, we just need to meet and sign the contract.” Li Wei replied.
“I have a feeling it wouldn’t be that easy. The government doesn’t want us, and there were many who are eyeing this project.” Wei Jun mused for a while.
Due to the military’s interference, who had become heroes of the people overnight, although the contract had landed in Wei Jun’s lap, the control still remained in the government’s hands. They could still try some underhanded means to lower the cost, or produce faults with their unreasonable demands.
Not to mention, there were many who were eyeing the project, such as Xin Huatao, and there were many more powerful people like that as well. The only problem was that in such cases, the power of cultivation was of no use to anyone. It was a public matter, and Wei Jun couldn’t use his cultivation prowess.
Well, on the surface, that was.
“See if Mark is awake. Send him to me. Also get Morial.” Wei Jun said and dismissed Li Wei. Li Wei nodded and left to carry out his orders.
Shortly, a tense blonde male and a grumpy red-headed man were standing before him.
“Why are you so tense?” Wei Jun asked.
“I apologize, my lord, but I heard that… um… Xiao Chun was rude to you.” Mark nervously replied.
‘Who’s that?’ Wei Jun wondered, but since he couldn’t remember, he simply waved his hand and said, “Don’t sweat it.”
Mark heaved a sigh of relief, but wasn’t fully relaxed either.
Wei Jun then turned to Morial and asked, “What’s up with you?”
“They made me light up fires under their barbecue and made me warm up their food repeatedly. I’m a proud royal wyvern and newly transformed pure draconian. I’m not a matchstick or a stove!” Morial explained why he was insulted.
Wei Jun shook his head and dismissed both of their issues before he said, “I have a task for the two of you.”
“Anything, my lord!” Mark Wilson hurriedly replied while Morial only grumped but said nothing.
“Tomorrow, these people were involved in some very… unfortunate accidents. And then, while investigating, the police found some very… disturbing truths about their existences. About their twisted lives that they had kept hidden from the public’s eye.” Wei Jun gave a very long but precise message.
Mark Wilson wasn’t born yesterday, and Morial was well aware of how cunning humans could be, so he understood every bit as well.
Mark Wilson nodded and said, “Worry not, my lord. By tomorrow night, the public will curse them out for being as evil as they were.”
“And?” However, Morial had something else he wanted to clear.
“And what?” Wei Jun asked.
“And what if we don’t find anything. What if they’re innocents?”
