Chapter 1950: Ancestral tomb (5)

None of us moved forward when the Merman King said this.

The kraken looked like it wanted to take a look at the stone tablets that the Merman King was looking over, but I stopped it before it could do that.

Even if the Merman King were to show us, the kraken should have been the last one to look in this case.

I didn’t move forward either as I waited for the Merman King to calm down from the daze that he was in.

After he finished reading a few of these tablets, he turned back to us and handed one of the tablets over to the Merman Queen.

When she saw him offering this stone table, she took it and looked it over before deeply knitting her brows.

From what I knew about the Merman Queen, she wasn’t someone that reacted that easily. So for her to show this kind of reaction, it was clear just what kind of thing was written on this table.

After another long silence, the Merman Queen finally asked, “What are you planning to do with this?”

The Merman King didn’t answer as there was a look on his face as if he was completely lost. It seemed that his conviction and belief had been shattered because of what he had read on the stone tablets.

But it wasn’t as if he could remain like this forever.

In the end, he was still the ruler of the Merman Empire and there were responsibilities that fell on his shoulders.

“I don’t know.” Even though he snapped out of his daze, it wasn’t as if the Merman King was able to figure out a plan that easily. This was a large matter that would without a doubt affect the very foundation of the Merman Empire.

So even if there were things that he wanted to do, he didn’t really feel like he could put these plans into action.

After thinking about it a bit longer, the first thing that the Merman King had to ask was…

“Do we tell them?”

The Merman Queen knitted her brows even more when she heard this as an uncertain look appeared in her eyes.

The Merman King didn’t wait for an answer from her since he knew that there was nothing that she would be able to say right now.

Instead, he turned to Ariel and waved his hand at her to come over.

At the same time, he also waved his hand at me to come over as well.

The two of us looked at each other before going over to look at the stone tablets that he had scattered out.

When I saw what was written on the stone tablets, I knew that this was irrefutable proof of what Aestum said previously. It didn’t directly acknowledge it, but indirectly acknowledging it was already more than enough.

“We don’t know why, but we received the order to move the entire ❑❑❑❑ to that place and to leave them there. We’ve been told by Lord Aquaron to destroy all traces that have ever existed from this place.”

It really didn’t look good for the ancestors of the Merman Empire…

But at the same time, it proved that Aquaron had really tried to get rid of those different races that Aestum had been protecting.

Was it really because they didn’t want these creatures in the same place as the mermaids or was there some other reason?

Even if there was some other reason, it wasn’t as if we would ever know about them since this was something that a god had decided.

Even if it was me…it certainly wouldn’t go well if I started interrogating a god.

Not to mention that I don’t think that they would respond if I were to interrogate them since I knew what kind of personality Aquaron had.

So in the end, I remained silent after reading what was written on the stone tablets.

It was actually Ariel that broke the silence by saying, “Don’t we have a chance to make things right again?”

The Merman King and Merman Queen were caught off guard when they heard this.

Ariel continued by saying, “From my time living on the surface, I can tell that this world is changing because of the racial alliance. It’s clear that the different races of the continent are coming together to face the threat that puts them all in danger. But after that, there’s no doubt that the different races will keep coming together to build a new system.”

Looking right into the eyes of her mother and father, Ariel said, “I think that this is the chance for us to fix the errors of our ancestors.”

After a pause, she added, “At least I don’t want this child to grow up in a world where they will be plagued by the choices that our ancestors made.”

Complicated looks appeared on the faces of the Merman King and Merman Queen after they heard this.

It seemed like they were still struggling over what to do in this case, but at the same time…

There was a trace of pride that was in their eyes as they looked at Ariel.

It was clear that they could feel the maturity that was in her voice when she said this.

This was a maturity that she didn’t have before she set off to live above the sea, but this was something that she had developed not just because she was about to become a parent. This was something that she had developed from her time observing the racial alliance.

For parents like them, it was hard for them not to be proud when they saw their daughter grow like this.

After a long moment of silence where the two of them seemed to communicate with the expression in their eyes, the Merman King finally made his decision.

“You’re right. We’ve been given an opportunity to right the wrongs of the past and we should seize this opportunity. I’ll make the arrangements.”

Once he made his decision, it seemed that he was firm in this judgement.

At the same time, it seemed that the Merman Queen supported him in this decision.

I really need to quit my job.
