Chapter 1731: Mutated orcs

Though the decision had been made to help the orcs that were being attacked by the forces of Destruction, no one actually charged into the land of the orcs that easily.

After all, the reports had shown that the orcs had already taken heavy damage from the assault of the forces of Destruction. At the same time, it seemed like there were orcs that were already corrupted among their numbers.

These were the ones that came out to raid the other countries.

When these orcs started using the corruption energy to fight, it really was hard to say that it was just a mistake.

After all, the corruption energy that they used really was the best show of this.

So in the end, it wasn’t as if we could just charge into the land of the orcs without a plan.

If we did, it would be easy to be caught off guard by the forces of Destruction that had already taken over that place. Once we were caught off guard by the forces of Destruction, the only thing that would await us is a fierce fight or death.

After all, there was no information from inside the land of the orcs.

Most of the time, the orcs were left on their own since they were a fierce race to begin with. If anyone were to scout out their tribe, they would see this as an act of aggression and make their move against the surrounding countries.

They didn’t care who it was that sent the spies, they would attack anyone from the same race.

Now that the forces of Destruction had taken over the land of the orcs, it was even more dangerous to send scouts in to get information.

So the only thing that we could do was go off the information that we currently had.

However, there was one bad piece of news that came this morning.

“The orcs have mutated?” I couldn’t help saying out loud after reading this part.

Without hesitation, I started looking closely at the part of the report that said this.

However, it didn’t seem like there was much information.

Green skin, large muscles, and tusks, that was the general description of an orc.

However, it seemed that the orcs that were being described in the report were different from the normal orcs that had been encountered so far.

The first thing that stood out was the new black skin that these orcs had.

Only that wasn’t surprising since most of the monsters that came from the corruption were covered in black since that was the colour of the corruption energy.

The problem was how these orcs were skinnier than the normal orcs.

It seemed that they had bulked down with how they described that these orcs were smaller than normal orcs.

However, that didn’t mean that these new mutated orcs were weaker.

From the report, they said that these orcs were even stronger than they were before.

Just a single swing of a club from an orc was enough to tear down several buildings.

This wasn’t the kind of strength that the orcs had shown before.

So it was clear that they had become much stronger enough they had become smaller.

The other thing that the orcs gained were these strange horns on their heads that didn’t seem to serve a purpose. It wasn’t as if the orcs used these horns to charge into their targets according to the reports on how these orcs fought.

It really didn’t make sense that these orcs had suddenly grown horns like this.

“The black skin should be because of the corruption energy changing them, same with the horns…Only the horns don’t really make sense. The black skin is most likely the corruption energy flowing under their skin which we should be able to purify. So what is the purpose of the horns?” I couldn’t mutter under my breath as I read through the report a few more times.

But no matter how I thought about it, I just couldn’t figure out the reason why this was the case.

“It seems like we’re running out of time.” I said to the different representatives that were in front of me.

Since I had been at the volcano dungeon with the other representatives that were here to stake their claim for the resources of the volcano dungeon, they were also given the rights to represent their countries in determining the matter of the land of the orcs.

After all, they were trusted enough to get the resources for their country, so they would be trusted enough to represent their country on this matter.

Hearing what I said, all of them nodded in agreement.

But it seemed that there was still hesitation that came from them as they looked at me with similar looks.

I could already guess what they were worried about since it had been included in the report as well.

There were priests and holy knights that had been deployed to the area around the land of the orcs and they had clashed with the mutated orcs as per the reports.

It was just that when they tried to purify the mutated orcs, it didn’t seem to have an effect on them. There wasn’t a single trace of smoke that showed that the corruption energy was being purified that came from these orcs.

So it was uncertain if they would even be able to do anything to the mutated orcs if they were to use purification magic like they had been doing so far against the forces of Destruction.

If there wasn’t a way to fight the mutated orcs, then there was nothing that they could do to stop them.

The only hope that they had was in the divine relics that I possessed.

As such, they were all looking at me as if they were asking me if it was possible.

I shook my head to show that I didn’t know, but I also said, “Are we just going to give up and let the forces of Destruction ruin our homes?”

In the end, they made up their mind and decided to commit to this fight even if they were uncertain of how it would turn out.

It would be a lie to say that I had complete confidence in this.

Even I was worried about how this would go.
