Chapter 1730: A rabid race

“Your majesty, please take a look at this report.”

I had just come out of the volcano dungeon when someone came to find me with a report.

I was even more surprised by who this person was.

After all, it wasn’t just a normal person that had come.

It was a pope and a sage.

What was so important that a pope and sage would be sent to talk to me?

When I took the report and read it over, I immediately understood what it was that had caused a pope and sage to come see me.

It wasn’t just a concern for a single country, this was something that concerned the entire racial alliance.

After reading this, I immediately asked, “Have you confirmed what is on this report?”

Both of them nodded before the pope said, “We’ve all sent scouts to see what is happening, but it’s not just that place that’s like this. It seems like they’ve already sent raiding teams to the surrounding countries, that’s why we know about this.”

“But why would they do that? All that does is expose them?” I couldn’t help asking after I heard this.

This time, neither of them had an answer for me.

In the end, I said with a sigh, “Have you already gathered everyone? We need to hold a meeting of the racial alliance to deal with this matter.”

Both of them nodded once more before leading the way forward.

It seemed like the forces of Destruction hadn’t given up after what had happened in the Mofu Mofu Kingdom. It seemed like they had even doubled down with this new attack.

It was just…

“What did they have to gain from this?” I couldn’t help muttering under my breath as I thought this over.

…

“It’s clear what we must do. We have to send the forces of the racial alliance to help them.”

This was certainly the right proposal, it was just that it felt strange coming from the person that it came from.

Even though they had caused many problems, the Democratic Union was still a part of the racial alliance. Even if they had lost some power because of the problems that they caused, it wasn’t as if the foundation of the Democratic Union would break that easily.

They were an empire that had remained at the head of the human race for many generations now, so it wasn’t as if they would suddenly break apart.

Though it was strange for the representative from the Democratic Union to make this proposal.

Usually in these meetings, the representative from the Democratic Union would take a passive role while looking for benefits for the Democratic Union.

This was the first time that they had taken a more active role.

Not to mention that this was a proposal that didn’t have much benefits for them because of the race that we were about to rescue.

“It’s that brutal and vicious race. Even if we rescue them, will they actually join the racial alliance? It doesn’t seem that likely since they’ve been avoiding us this entire time…”

The race in question were the orcs.

The orcs were another one of the powerful races of the continent because of their strong bodies and their decent virility. They were able to create a decent army and had been able to carve a piece of the continent for themselves.

But they usually kept to themselves since they were quite the brutal race.

Most of the time, they were actually raiding the other races as bandits.

That was why it was hard to get along with the orcs.

Most of the races had suffered at the hands of the orcs, so it wasn’t as if there were any races that had a good opinion of the orcs.

But I still had something to say, “Even if they haven’t been the kindest neighbours so far, we still have to help them now that they are being attacked by the forces of Destruction. The entire continent has to unite in the fight against the forces of Destruction.”

Though the people in this call didn’t seem that happy about this, they were still convinced by the words that I said.

After all, they knew that one less ally meant one more enemy.

The forces of Destruction could corrupt the races that they attacked, as shown by the demons. So if we didn’t actually do anything to help the orcs, then it was likely that we would also have to fight the orcs in the future.

But even I felt strange saying this.

It wasn’t that I had any bad feelings towards the orcs, it was just the fact that the representative from the Democratic Union seemed to support this.

He didn’t just show a bit of support, it seemed like he was trying to convince everyone to go through with this.

It really was different from how the people from the Democratic Union usually acted.

One might think that this was just the Democratic Union trying to redeem itself after what had happened with the investigation team in the volcano dungeon, but it didn’t feel that way to me.

After all, it felt like he was trying too hard…

It felt like there was something else that the they wanted…

The problem was that I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was.

But for now, I used this to my advantage since I had to convince the others to save the orcs.

When the vote came, most of the representatives from the different countries agreed to help the orcs fight against the forces of Destruction. But it was clear by the tone of their voices that they weren’t happy to agree with this.

The orcs just had this kind of bad reputation.

“Keep an eye on the Democratic Union.” I said to the pope and sage who were with me after the call.

The two of them nodded in agreement.

I didn’t need to say anything, they had noticed how strange the Democratic Union was acting too.

They were the ones that were in charge of their countries for a reason.

Need to rush through Natlan as well to go to Nod-Krai.
