Capítulo 750: Duo (2)

Seriq pulled out a pair of scimitars, slashing down at Theron before he could make it to Vaelor.

Forced to pivot his movements, Theron’s spear finally made its presence felt.

CLANG.

The air reverberated, but while Seriq took a step back, Theron’s body rippled like Water and Darkness, and he instead took a step forward, a second surge of might bearing down on the Resistance Army squad leader and nearly sending his weapon flying out of his hand.

Seriq’s chest opened wide for an attack, but just as Theron was about to take advantage, he sensed a surge of Flux Mana from the side.

This was the first time he was coming across Flux Mancers in this world, and to think his luck was good enough to come across not just one, but two of them.

Good.

Vaelor hurried to cover for Seriq much like the latter had covered for him. He knew his blade wasn’t as sturdy or powerful as Theron’s, but he had been using a flexible thin sword all his life. He knew exactly what his weaknesses were and how to take advantage of his strengths.

His Flux Mana flooded his blade, and it curled out of the way of Theron’s heavy spear. His body bent along with his blade, moving with a fluidity unnatural to the human body to close in the distance.

BANG.

Theron’s spear spun in his hand in a movement no less fluid. Since he missed with his blade, he casually twisted a wrist, his polearm flipping in his palms until its butt slammed against Vaelor’s head.

Seriq’s scimitars slashed down from the side the instant Theron’s polearm connected with Vaelor. The timing was impeccable, and it was clear that the two had already entered a strong battle state.

It was rare Theron fought people with this much battle sense. Their strength wasn’t all that impressive to him, but they had stripped down their methods of all fancy moves and flashy techniques. In fact, they hadn’t cast a single one since the battle began.

Just like Chen had said, these two weren’t bottom feeders. They had fought real battles.

It was unfortunate that it didn’t matter in the slightest… because Theron wasn’t a Flux Mancer.

[Winding Lethe].

Chi. BANG!

One of Seriq’s scimitars went flying out of his hand, his eyes opening up wide. He had never—not even a single time in his life—lost control of his weapon like that. It was the first rule he had learned from the moment he first picked up a blade. Never lose your weapon.

It was something every warrior learned, one thing that every warrior knew.

How had Theron done that to him so easily?

It was simple, really. With Theron’s senses, feeling out the weakness of a weapon wielder was as easy as breathing. And with [Winding Lethe], he could precisely time the deflection and parry of an attack for the moment right after Seriq had finished bracing for impact.

While Seriq thought the clash was over, Theron was just beginning. And his spear was still spinning in his hands.

One fluid motion chained into the next. Vaelor hadn’t even hit the ground yet when Theron’s spear spun back, its blade appearing before Seriq’s face.

Blood flew, and Seriq screeched in pain.

The blade cut up the side of his face, slicing one of his eyeballs in two.

Theron pulled back his spear in yet another spinning motion, the polearm rotating until the blade flashed into the world once again, taking Seriq’s other eye as he tried to block the next oncoming strike.

Unfortunately for him, with just one eye—and facing a Dark Mancer—his depth perception was completely off.

Theron seemed to become three people, and his Third Eye was far too powerful for Seriq to see through with his own.

PUCHI.

A second strike, a second eye lost.

Seriq collapsed to the ground, writhing in pain as Theron walked toward Vaelor.

The second of the Resistance Army duo was unconscious on the ground, foaming at the mouth. The amount of power Theron had struck the very center of his forehead with wasn’t small. He wouldn’t be surprised if Vaelor had several fractures in his skull right this moment.

Unfortunately for him, though, that wouldn’t stop Theron from teaching him a very valuable lesson.

Chi.

Theron’s spear spun just one more time, running the length between Vaelor’s eyes and crossing right through his nose bridge.

With a satisfied sigh, Theron clenched his spear a bit and returned it to a black box of complex jigsaw pieces that formed heavily on his back.

He looked around to find that this time, the hustle and bustle of the city really had fallen to silence. There wasn’t a single soul that didn’t recognize the Resistance Army uniform when they saw it. But maybe even more shocking than that—even if they didn’t understand this—they knew a Quasi Cloud Realm expert when they saw one.

If Theron had cared enough, he would have used his Third Eye to obscure his cultivation more. But…

He didn’t.

Not in this case.

Theron walked back to Ayame’s side with a smile on his face. She was looking at him with the same calm gaze, but inwardly… she was very wary.

Just a week or two ago, Theron couldn’t take a single strike from her. Now he was casually defeating two Mancers at her cultivation level? It didn’t even look like he had used much more than a fraction of his strength. How was that even possible?

However, what she liked even less was the fact Theron seemed to be acting with wild abandon on his own. She was trying to join the Demon Corps’ higher ranks, but now Theron was poking the Resistance Army’s nest. There was no way the Resistance Army wouldn’t respond to something like this.

In a lot of ways, what Theron had done was worse than just killing them. He had completely humiliated them.

And clearly, Theron knew that.

Chen barely managed to keep his jaw from unhinging. What the hell had he just seen?
