Capítulo 699: Harmony

The covers exploded, shards of its layered cardboard and leather splintering apart beneath Theron’s blow. Yet, beneath it, thin sheets of a beautiful foil appeared. It seemed golden bronze, so thin it likewise looked as though it could be shredded with a pinch and twist of the fingers.

However, it had successfully survived Theron’s blow not just because the power of his strike was so perfect, but also because it was the sturdiest, most valuable materaila in the entire booklet.

Theron had mentioned before how it was odd taht something so valuable was written on sheets of paper in such a primitive way instead in jade.

One reason seemed to be that the harmony between the booklets wouldn’t be nearly as obvious if blocked away in jades. But another reason he hadn’t seen before was precisely these thin sheets.

There was a mysterious harmonizing within the sheets, something that made them visible to the naked eye, and yet entirely invisible to one’s secondary senses. Even if Theron had thoroughly scanned the book with his Third Eye, it would have never revealed itself.

In fact, Theron had done exactly that, but he hadn’t sensed the special foil until he took the booklets apart in the perfect order.

It was only then that it revealed itself.

Theron hadn’t known that there was some magical order to things, he had only led the feeling of the booklets themselves guide him. His original intention was to deconstruct the secrets from all three books, and then reform them into a single book that was more comprehensive and easier to follow a logical flow between.

But it seemed that this wasn’t just Theron’s own onesided idea.

This was exactly what the creator of the bookelts expected out of him.

Theron could sense the shock stirring within the Nightingale Ancestor Bird, but he had entered a state of such meditative focus that he couldn’t spare a single thought toward anything else.

He exhaled a heated breath that spread a hot steam through the air. It was almost as though his brain itself was overheating in real time, but nothing was going to stop him.

He slapped his palms together and a shockwave ran through the air.

The sheets of paper hovering above him began to connect. At first Theron through it would just be artificial, but it was as though the papers had grown life and vitality the moment the foils were released to the world.

A harmonic melody only Theron could hear hung on the soft winds, beauty painting the currents and life filling one’s lungs with sweet air with every passing moment.

One could only well and truly feel at peace.

Under these effects, the torn pieces of paper began to fuse together as though torn wounds.

The previously useless or contrived words rearranged themselves, while the bits and pieces key to the Angel Doctrine glowed even brighter.

The foils once hidden in the three booklets began to weave together as well, this time not under Theron’s control, but in response to the pieces of paper fusing above them. The more perfect it became, the more whole and complete the foils likewise became.

BANG.

The two layers slammed into one another.

The foils wrapped around the completed folds of paper, forming a tight binding that solidified into a tome, and then a box. From the flimsy pieces of foil that looked like they could be torn with the fingers, it became a solid box of gold and bronze that looked truly impenetrable.

It fluttered sowly down from above and descended peacefully in Theron’s outstretched hands where it stayed for only a moment before it shuddered and then became motes of light that drilled into the center of his forehead.

Theron’s head snapped back and his eyes glazed over, a pulsing gold and bronze flashing continuously in streaks of complex runes and sigils, each more complicated than the last.

He didn’t even do much else, but the room warped around him. The booklets within his spatial ring were ripped out and then a familiar sequence of things occurred as Theron was in a daze.

He had expected that he would have to personally do the same for every set of three booklets, but it was like he had passed some sort of test, leading to everything else being streamlined for him.

One after another, a second beam of light, and then a third fused into his forehead.

Theron blinked once, then twice, then contiuously in an attempt to regain his bearings. But then he realized that the way he was seeing the world had simply changed.

Those Laws, those Runes and sigils on everything, that was there by design. He couldn’t turn them off, they were forcing him to see things he hadn’t been able to see before, almost as though he was staring right into the backend software fo the world itself.

He stood there in silence for a long while, his mind trying to wrap around the changes. It felt surreal.

What sort of inheritance was this? What level did you have to be at to make a mere inheritance cause changes in the world like this?

Theron only thought for a moment before he had an answer.

It had to be an inheritance so perfect that it was written into the world almost like it was a law itself. Only an inheritance so widely recognized by the Heavens could make such a significant change to the body without being anything other than itself.

Theron had experienced things that could change his body before, but never anything like this. It didn’t really feel like it was coming in or tweaking anything about him. If anything, it was just hovering in his soul without hardly influencing it.

Yet, its presence alone, even without Theron understanding much of it at all…

Actually changed so much.

‘Angel Doctrine…’

The ancient words echoed across Theron’s mind and he realized then that the Nightingale Ancestor was right… for about a few breaths of time.

‘Demon Doctrine…’

Darkness flickered.
