Capítulo 697: Thank You

“Can I take a look at this?” Theron asked Wyzman to the side.

“Ah, yes, right away. I will go and inquire.”

Theron nodded and then continued looking through things as though he wasn’t the least bit obsessed with the piece he was waiting on. If it was possible to see what was there without buying it, then he would. Why would he place a target on his back unnecessarily?

He had already stuck his neck out enough by exchanging for those books, so he would rather not do more if he didn’t have to.

However… his thoughts were also swirling in another direction now.

Was the formula more valuable than he knew? And who could have known that the unnamed cultivator had such a formula on him?

All things considered, a pill that seemed designed for Cloud Mancers shouldn’t be valuable enough to need such fanfare to begin with. Why would a society with so many high-level Dome of Heaven experts be stressing about a realm they already had so much ease passing?

The first possibility was that because they hadn’t taken the perfect path forward, they felt the need to make up for it.

Theron had managed to reach the level of a usual Dome of Heaven expert in the soul precisely because he had taken this mysterious path of cultivation. But technically speaking, the cultivation realm of his soul was actually the Cloud Mancy Realm.

Maybe this was somehow related to why they would find this formula useless despite their levels… or, maybe it was possible that Theron was wrong and this formula wasn’t one designed for Cloud Mancers at all, or at least not solely for them.

This latter possibility had a smaller chance in Theron’s estimation. It was more likely to be the first reason. In which case, this would be even more useful to Theron than anyone else.

The real question was… how good would it be to rely on external items to raise his cultivation?

When he thought his main opponent was just a Gold Mancer, he didn’t care about taking shortcuts in cultivation so long as he could get his revenge faster.

But now… Theron had no idea how tall the ceiling of cultivation was. What he was sure of was that Goddess Sacharro was near the pinnacle of it.

If his foundation at the start was too shaky, then he would never get there no matter how talented he was.

Theron silently changed the parameters of his search to matters of alchemy.

He really didn’t want to become a jack of all, master of none. But it seemed this was the direction the world was pushing him toward. He didn’t even have a basic understanding of alchemy.

What he did know was that it was impossible for him to become an alchemist either way. This was a path for Soul Mancers, and he was no Soul Mancer.

He had vaguely heard of some Fire Mancers being able to replicate some of the feats of Soul Mancy Alchemists with the help of treasure cauldrons, but Theron was obviously no Fire Mancer either.

So, he decided to just casually pick up some basic books on alchemy just so he could have a more general understanding and feel of what he was getting himself into and how easy it would be to deal with the fallout if he chose to go down this route.

‘It would be very complicated to even try. Since I can’t be an alchemist myself, I would need to find someone to make the pills for me.’

Theron’s gaze flickered. If this pill formula was as valuable as it was seeming, then it was not only possible that this may very well be the reason he was targeted the moment he stepped into the city, but also that it was a great opportunity for profit.

The obvious choice was for him to partner with a merchant group, a Sect, or a Clan to produce them for him and give him a cut of the profits.

The issue was that deals like this could only be made when both parties had equivalent power. And he… very clearly did not.

‘Maybe I could use the Nightingale Ancestor Bird. In exchange for its help, I could easily mimic the aura of a more powerful Dome of Heaven expert. That might make it easier…’

Theron’s gaze flickered and he set the thought aside for the time being.

Many parts of the formula were faded, and they might not even let him see the piece he wanted, so he could easily be putting the cart before the horse right now.

To Theron’s surprise, though, Wyzman returned with a box with the ancient piece of scroll within. Theron could even clearly read the last two ingredients on it.

‘Wait. Before, I couldn’t read some of the items because my sensory capabilities were still at the Silver Mancy level. But now I’m at the true Cloud Mancy level. I haven’t tried to read the ancient scroll since the first time, but I bet if I try to do so now, I’ll be able to pick out the faded ink streaks I couldn’t before.’

Theron realized at that moment that he had the complete formula, but he also understood why it was they allowed this item to come out so easily.

They didn’t believe he would be able to read it.

What they didn’t know was that Theron’s eyes weren’t normal eyes at all. He had refined them into [Entangling Blood Vein Pupils], and they had become a direct extension of his soul.

Not only did he not need to sweep his Third Eye over it, his gaze alone could pierce through its secrets.

“Odd,” Theron said. “Why would anyone try to sell something like this?”

Wyzman had been confused as to why Theron was asking to see an item like this as well, and only now were his doubts calmed. It seemed Theron was just curious.

Theron shook his head. “You can take it back. I think that I’m done for today. Thank you very much for your help.”
