Capítulo 696: Diagonal Cut

Unsurprisingly, Theron didn’t hesitate to buy up all the books. Since he was taking risks, he might as well go all the way. This Angel Doctrine was perfectly suited for him.

It required a level of intellect that made him feel stimulated for the first time in a very long while.

Until this point, cultivation had been far too easy for him. Spells, techniques, even cultivation methods were simply a matter of a few hours of thought for him, if that.

Even when he was deciphering the matters related to the Haven and trying to produce his own Dark Resonance—while it took him quite a few days of meditation—it was something he expected, because he was a mere Silver Mancer back then, trying to comprehend something designed for the perfection of the Dome of Heaven Realm.

Rather than making him feel stimulated, it made him feel a bit silly. If cultivation was so hard, then why in the world could he grasp something three full levels of cultivation beyond himself with just a few days of meditation?

This, however… this was very different.

Even the simplest underlying concepts of the Angel Doctrine were so complex that Theron was still in a bit of a tailspin.

He had already read all three of the most basic books from start to finish, and for him, that usually meant he would have enough to cobble together all the foundation he needed to use it perfectly.

But right now, he was sure he still didn’t have the ability to draw even a single Angel Doctrine Formation.

There were still six more books beyond even that as well.

If Theron was correct, these nine books in total, separated into three for each of the starting positions and beyond, were only up to a Gold Mancy level.

That is to say, the first three covered Bronze Mancy, the second three covered Silver Mancy, and the last three covered Gold Mancy.

For Theron of all people to be taking so long to comprehend something at Bronze Mancy… it proved just how complicated the Angel Doctrine of Formations truly was.

And it only made Theron all the more excited.

As for Wyzman, it made him feel like he was looking at a madman.

Theron hadn’t gotten any healing done after his exchange with the assassin. He was walking around with blood caked on his back and his chest still partially caved in. And yet it was like he didn’t even notice what was happening—so obsessed with the books in his hands that he didn’t care about anything else.

After a while, Theron realized that he wasn’t going to unearth all the secrets of the booklets like this, so he simply took them. If someone chose to target him because of them, he was just going to have to sit and wait for their attack.

He would certainly be ready.

If he thought about why someone would choose to do this, the best option seemed to be that they were baiting someone into doing it. But the question was—why?

The answer seemed to also have a best option as well… that being that whoever did this needed someone who was capable of deciphering these booklets for them, and whoever was capable of doing this was someone who would have seen through how special they were just by perusing the booklets in the first place.

Someone capable of doing that would certainly be capable of unearthing all of the booklet’s secrets and maybe even distilling them into a form they could understand.

If that was the case, this person might not come after Theron immediately… but rather wait.

Only time would tell.

After Theron finished getting what he wanted, he thought about leaving, but ultimately he felt that it would be poor form to waste Chen’s hospitality.

He didn’t care about Chen trying to be his friend, but these funds certainly weren’t easy to accumulate.

So, he started scouring for things that were of interest to him. He ended up buying a Heaven Grade inner armor—one that was lightweight and could protect against the attacks of a Lower Dome of Heaven Realm Mancer, and resist against one a level higher than that.

Though he preferred one even more powerful, by the time you started looking at Middle-tier inner armors, even Chen’s line of credit couldn’t possibly buy such a thing. You would definitely need to move the Shonagh Clan’s wealth stores at that level and beyond.

Theron thought about buying a dagger, but he dismissed the idea for the time being. He would be using his dagger to commit some more nefarious actions in the dark when the time came, and he preferred not to leave a trail of what weapons he used if possible.

He moved on and began to look through a list of things to see if he could find anything more interesting when his pupils suddenly constricted into pinholes.

He recognized this.

There was a piece of browned paper, cut at an angle so precise that Theron recognized it immediately.

This is the missing piece of the formula…

Theron had a formula designed for accelerating growth within the Cloud Realm on his person that came from the unnamed cultivator. It was clearly a very ancient formula, but it was unfortunately incomplete, missing what Theron guessed was one or two ingredients snipped off at the bottom.

Theron thought that it had been destroyed for whatever reason, but he didn’t think that he would find it here.

As long as Theron made it to the Quasi Dome of Heaven Realm, he could return to the Haven and immediately ascend to the Peak of the Dome of Heaven Realm… at least in Dark Mancy.

Originally, his Water Mancy would lag far behind. But now that Theron had Void Cores, that wasn’t necessarily the case anymore. The connection between his Cores was too strong, and they could even swap between one another.

Now, whether that meant Theron would meet both Cores at the middle, or if both would rise to the Peak, he wasn’t sure.

But all of that aside, what Theron was missing right now was a method of getting to Quasi Dome of Heaven quickly.

As fast as his cultivation was right now, it would certainly slow soon… and this ancient pill…

Theron’s gaze flickered.
