Rivers of the Night - Chapter 694
Capítulo 694: Friendship
Young Master Shonagh looked to be 16 or 17 years old. His features were immature, and his eyes a bit languid. He didn’t seem to realize what had happened to him very clearly at all, but as his memories slowly returned, his eyes sharpened and he shot up.
“THAT BITCH!” he roared.
The grizzled guard frowned when he heard this and then slowly released Theron’s shoulder.
Theron didn’t even seem to react to the change, making a move to leave, only to be stopped once again.
“I’ve grown tired of this back and forth. Is this how you treat the Three Stripes of your pavilion?” Theron asked coldly.
The brows of the grizzled guard jumped. However, there were hundreds of Three Stripes, and only one Shonagh Clan. If he let the wrong person go, it would be his head. Plus, even if Theron was innocent, explaining what happened was still a top priority sort of situation.
“This situation is too complicated to let you go now.”
“What’s there to question?” the young master suddenly said, looking over. “He saved me. It’s suspicious as to how he did it, or why a Gold Mancer would put his life on the line in a situation like this, but it’s the truth.”
“I hate assassins,” Theron replied.
“Oh?”
“A few days ago, someone of this organization almost killed me. When I sensed the same aura, I acted. Unfortunately, the one they sent after you was more powerful than the one they sent after me.”
The young master’s eyes narrowed, looking Theron up and down.
“It was you. The King Inn incident, right? You killed a Dome of Heaven expert? Bullshit.”
Theron gave him an indifferent look and made a move to leave again. As he did so, his blood dripped, and that was when their pupils constricted into pinholes.
Who could have possibly attacked Theron other than the assassin?
The guards might not be aware—at least most of them weren’t—but how could the young master of the Shonagh not know that his attacker was deep into the Dome of Heaven Realm?
As for the grizzled guard, his senses were sharp enough to feel the strong Mana in the air too. He could guess himself.
Plus, there were the more obvious clues. This pavilion was built to incredibly strict standards. It was simply impossible for anyone of normal to average strength to ever break those walls, even the relatively weaker ceilings.
“Wait,” Young Master Shonagh called out. He reached for something on his finger, but his lip twitched when he realized his spatial ring was gone.
As though suddenly recalling the implications of something like that, his eyes widened.
“FUCK. FUCK. FUCK. IF I EVER CATCH THAT BITCH! SHIT!”
He took a cold breath into his nostrils, trying to calm himself down.
He was going to break into the Dome of Heaven Realm soon. He swore the first thing he was going to do was massacre every assassin of that damned organization he could get his hands on. He wouldn’t let a single one of them rest peacefully, and when he made it to their level, he was going to bring them to their knees.
Furious, steam practically billowed out of his ears.
Finally, he seemed to calm down.
“It seems that bitch took my spatial ring, so I can’t repay you directly now. You’re a Three Stripe, but you’re also staying at the King Inn, so you’re probably not from this territory, right? Tell you what, you can use my tab. I’m sure I still have a few hundred million in credits. Buy anything you want. This deal only lasts for today, though. My life is valuable, but not valuable enough to bankrupt me.”
Theron raised an eyebrow, finding this young master to be a bit amusing.
Someone else would probably hide their intentions, but he was quite open with it. But Theron didn’t mind it.
Sure, someone should take their life more seriously than that, but most wouldn’t have an endless rope to give. The difference was that most people would put on a veneer of thankfulness while trying to make sure they didn’t give up too much in return.
This young man was different, though.
“I’ll take you up on that offer. There’s only so much money I could extort from the King Inn.”
The young man blinked for a moment before bursting into a fit of laughter; he laughed so hard he snorted.
“Your balls must be made of steel. That damned Merchant King—”
The young man’s pupils constricted as though he had just thought of something.
His father and the Merchant King had a very important meeting about business today. In fact, this was the reason the Merchant King was leaving the King Inn in the first place.
A coincidence?
Usually, his father would be here with him, but now…
The young man buried his speculation in his heart. Something was fishy, but he doubted that the answer was really so simple.
“What is your name?” he asked. “I’m Chen Shonagh.”
“Theron Galethunder.”
“Galethunder, huh? Interesting. I’ve never heard of your Clan. You also don’t smell of Wind or Lightning Mana.”
“No, no I don’t.” Theron smiled, raising up two fingers.
Chen’s pupils constricted when a perfect marble of Water and Dark Mana appeared adjacent to one another.
“… Well I’ll be damned. I’ve never met a Dual Resonance Mancer in person before. No wonder you’re so broken. I believe it now.”
The grizzled guard stood to the side a bit awkwardly. He could still see his palm print on Theron’s shoulder. Even a Dome of Heaven Realm expert would bruise from his earlier grip. At this point, the entire left side of Theron’s body was probably a beaten mess of purples and blacks.
“Never mind, you can use the entire credit line if you want.” Chen suddenly grinned.
“Oh? And what are you expecting in return?”
“Friendship, of course. I can’t miss this opportunity, now can I?”
The guards of the Shonagh Clan and pavilion were speechless. Was this how diplomacy was supposed to work?
