Capítulo 684: A Hunch

“Oh, and of course, my room should be completely free. Indefinitely.”

The receptionist was already in shock about everything else. But this took the cake.

He actually planned on… staying here?

**

Theron walked out of the King Inn with a smile on his face, his heart calm and unbothered by it all. It didn’t take him long to find a large pavilion with a tower right in the middle of it all.

From what he had heard from listening in on conversations, this was the city’s largest trade hub, and it was also where the elites bought and sold things. He had just come into a great deal of money—it would be a shame if he didn’t use it, right?

His own spatial rings couldn’t even hold the Heaven Grade Mana Crystals he had in his possession now. Before, he hadn’t even owned a single one. His room had been paid entirely with Gold Mana Crystals. But now he had more than he even knew what to do with.

So he made the logical decision.

Since there was an assassins’ guild apparently after him, and a Merchant King that was about to be very angry with him, it was about time he got his hands on some more Spells.

Real Spells.

He was tired of this world’s techniques. Maybe he would trade for a few if he found any that interested him, but he was an Elemental Mancer, not a Flux Mancer.

So many things about the way they did things in this world were backwards to him. Normally, Theron only used his blades to hide his strength. His abilities as an Elemental Mancer had always been the strongest.

But since he came to this world, everything had been reversed and that was unacceptable to him.

Granted, this was because the Cloud Realm was the bare minimum requirement to start somewhat comfortably using Spells. But Theron always believed that Control trumped everything…

Plus, he could wield Cloud Mana now when he used his [Entangling Blood Vein Pupils].

“Hello. Can you direct me toward where I can see Elemental Mancer Spells and techniques?”

After asking his question to the first worker he could find, it wasn’t long before Theron was escorted to a private room.

It actually took more manipulation than he thought. He had felt something wrong initially as the worker almost directed him toward an open space. But after catching a few being escorted into private rooms, he realized the name of the game and simply pulled out a Heaven Grade Mana Crystal.

The instant he did so, the attitude of the man did a complete 180, and Theron was swiftly brought to a private room of his own.

Taking a comfortable seat, Theron watched as a motorized table of jade unfolded and spread out before him. Points of light formed of formations whirred, and suddenly the solid jade table began to look a lot more like a screen made of glass.

Theron completely ignored the worker and the words he was spewing. His pupils darted back and forth between the formations as though he were trying to understand something.

The more Theron came into contact with formations, the more he believed he needed to start studying them more. If he came across an opponent with something like the assassin’s pendant on them but they could use it for attack or defense, what would he do then?

He had no one to rely on but himself, so now that his soul capacity had caught up to his talent—and then far surpassed it—he needed to put more effort into things like this.

This wasn’t just about chasing knowledge anymore. It would be the foundation of his strength in the future.

Speaking of foundation, though, Theron’s own was incredibly solid. This was not in reference to his cultivation, but instead his knowledge and what he could build upon to begin to learn formations and things of the like.

Theron was starting to find time here and there to make headway in his library. It had grown even larger now that he had stepped onto this world, but he was starting to find that the information was overlapping. The more he read, the easier it was to understand what he read next, and that made reading go by faster and faster.

Complex concepts became simple to him, and as he began to network and combine those understandings into the cultivation world, everything here likewise also became much easier.

‘Mm, I guess I’ll trade for a book on formations too.’

Theron was about to pick one of the simpler ones, as he always did. Foundation was always the best; he always chose the route of the simplest techniques so that he could get the most out of them. Whether it was his Echoes, his Spells, or this, his approach would always be the same.

However, just as he was going to pick, the Nightingale Ancestor Bird’s intent shook his mind.

‘Trade for all three of them.’

Theron raised an internal eyebrow, but in the end, he didn’t resist. The books here were cheap. They were just introductory jades on formation. They cost like 10 Gold Mana Crystals, which was probably a steep price to any normal Gold Mancer—let alone someone who should be young enough to just be starting out on their formation mastery journey—but to Theron, it was nothing at all.

10 Gold Mana Crystals wasn’t even a fraction of the cost of a Heaven Grade Crystal.

So, he traded for the three on the page before him.

‘Why?’ Theron asked.

He had been allowing the Nightingale Ancestor Bird to keep an eye out on the world for him in hopes its experience would catch what he couldn’t. But it had been a while now, and they had been through quite a number of shops without Theron ever running into something of interest. So, he had somewhat given up on it.

But this was peculiar.

‘It’s just a hunch that I have. I cannot confirm unless you open all of them.’
