Capítulo 678: Fast

The Nightingale Ancestor Bird paused. “Your dagger?”

“Yes.”

The Nightingale Ancestor Bird knew most everything about his combat style now, so it knew that there was a huge imbalance between his father’s short sword and the unnamed cultivator’s dagger now.

If he wanted it to keep up with his combat style, it needed to be much better.

He was a Primal now, at least with his Water Resonance, but the dagger was only of Arcane Resonance. Even his Dark Resonance was at Celestial, which was still a step beyond the dagger.

The saving grace was that the dagger was at the peak of the Cloud Grade, and since Theron was only a First Resonance Gold Mancer, he was almost two realms of separation away.

But Theron’s cultivation was one thing, his actual combat strength was another. Against the Nightingale Ancestor, his blade had already been chipped. If not for his father’s blade, he would have been at a huge disadvantage.

If he didn’t fix it soon, the dagger would face the same fate as all the daggers before it.

“I can,” the Nightingale Ancestor Bird confirmed. “But it will take 1000x the resources it would for a skilled craftsman.”

Theron wasn’t surprised by this either. It was one thing for it to refine itself. But the dagger was an external item it wasn’t familiar with at all. The fact it was only a 10x increase wasn’t too bad at all.

Plus, it was all relative.

The Nightingale Ancestor Bird, after being stimulated by Macie’s bloodline, had become a Primal Grade weapon despite having reverted back to a spear. It was certainly weaker in its spear form, but it didn’t lose an entire grade.

In fact, it wasn’t just a Primal Grade weapon—it was a Primal Dome of Heaven Resonance weapon.

Just based on these two facts alone, it was stronger than any weapon Theron had in his possession right now, including his father’s short sword.

Of course, given how fast his cultivation would progress now, that wouldn’t last for long. But for now, it was certainly true.

“How much stronger can you become?” Theron asked.

“It isn’t necessarily about how much stronger I can become. Unless I’m stimulated once again by Nightingale Ancestral Blood, I can only return to the Peak of the Dome of Heaven Realm. However, with these stones, I can help save your life at critical moments. For every set of stones you give me capable of completing a refinement, I can exert myself to help you once.

“Of course, I can’t continue to do this for an equivalent exchange. I hope that every time you ask me for help, you likewise give me an extra refinement.”

Theron nodded, understanding.

The Ancestor Bird was basically asking him to give it one extra life for every life of his it saved. If it just used all the energy it gained to save Theron all the time, this wouldn’t be much of a deal for it.

“How long?”

“It will take me a month for myself, but I can improve your dagger to the Dome of Heaven Realm in a week. However, I can’t change its grade or help it any further than that.”

“Alright. Do my dagger first, then help yourself.”

The Nightingale Ancestor Bird didn’t say anything to this. Theron seemed the type to trust himself more than anyone else. This wasn’t a surprise.

Maybe in a month, by the time it completed one refinement, Theron wouldn’t need him at all.

…

Theron’s eyes opened up to the outside world and he found himself streaking through the starry skies still. After a moment, he closed his eyes once again, this time for sleep.

He wasn’t sure how long he spent asleep, but when he woke up it was in a complete cold sweat, his hands gripping the armrests of his chair so hard he had left a dent in them.

‘Second Resonance?’

Theron’s gaze flickered, feeling something odd about his aura.

When had he broken into Second Gold Resonance?

He knew that his cultivation would be blindingly fast now, but he didn’t expect it to be this fast.

He took a breath and exhaled.

After stabilizing himself, his thoughts moved toward the Alpha. By now, it should have long eaten through the corpses he had given it.

Theron had gotten his hands on two Quasi Dome of Heaven experts and a real Dome of Heaven expert for it. If its aura didn’t reach a completely new stage, it wouldn’t be living up to the Galethunder Bloodline it had benefited from.

As expected, the changes to the Alpha were truly on another level.

Theron didn’t need to keep the Alpha in the beast-holding bracelet any longer because of the unnamed cultivator’s abode.

The Alpha had progressed to the Cloud Realm, and interestingly enough, it didn’t trigger a Tribulation. If it had, Theron would probably be in quite some trouble.

That either meant it was like Theron and had awakened its soul to Gold Mancy at the same time as it had its Mana, or beasts were simply different than humans.

Theron had a feeling that it was probably the latter.

Either way, the Alpha would probably soar to the Quasi Dome of Heaven Realm soon. However, its Resonance level was still at the Arcane level.

That was more troublesome for Theron. While it could use Blood Mancy to increase its strength even further, and would be helpful in battle just by the sheer amount of Mana it had now, it wasn’t the sort of companion Theron really needed anymore.

However, Theron didn’t seem panicked.

The body of the Alpha was incredibly flexible. Theron just needed the right set of circumstances to trigger another evolution in it. For now, it was more than good enough.

If he could secretly kill another few Dome of Heaven experts, he could definitely get it to take a step over that threshold.

And he had a feeling that he would get a chance to do exactly that very soon.

The vessel shook and then slowed. In the distance, a planet booming with life appeared.
