Capítulo 676: How

Theron mulled the new information over, his thoughts focusing on the feeling of the word Edict. After a long while, he spoke again.

“And what does this have to do with the Mercenary Guild?”

The Nightingale Ancestor Bird didn’t answer, but this time it was clearly because it didn’t have an answer to give. How long had it been since it was tapped into the real world and its happenings? It was no wonder it didn’t know what was going on.

This question was nagging at Theron, though.

The feeling of hell and death that Rauther, Tyran, and Ophan had given off reminded Theron a lot of Macie as well. It was different, yet the same as well.

He had felt some of Ilzan’s aura as well, but that wasn’t quite right either. It wasn’t exactly the same.

But given the way Ilzan spoke to Kempe, it was like they knew each other. In fact, if Theron had to posit a way for Kempe to possibly know about the Ice Spirit ahead of time, then it would have had to have been through Ilzan.

But why would Ilzan give the Ice Spirit to someone else?

As far as Theron understood, Spirits were invaluable. Sadie had become the entire hope of the Nightingale Sect at just 12 years old precisely because she had a Dark Spirit.

But by the same token, Spirits were hard to control. That should also be the reason why the likes of Sadie were able to keep it for herself without being hunted down.

However, this was directly contradicted by the fact Kempe’s in-name disciple brothers had a method of restraining one.

There were too many questions that Theron had, and not enough answers. And given the fact Goddess Sacharro didn’t just magically appear to give him a new threshold he had to meet and a time frame to do it in, she probably didn’t consider the Hall of Ice and Heart destroyed right now either—despite the fact its Matriarch was no longer living.

Right now, Theron was undoubtedly on a time crunch. There was only so long he could last before he was being hunted down.

Ilzan wouldn’t let things go so easily, and he certainly wouldn’t be threatened in the same exact way more than once. So, what Theron needed was information and a way to network and truly lay his roots.

Ironically enough… there was only one way to do that.

The Mercenary Guild.

But joining a guild branch in this galaxy was a death sentence. They would find him too fast and he would be surrounded again, this time without a place to escape.

So instead, he needed to take advantage of the sheer size of the guild and join another branch in a neighboring galaxy.

It would be more difficult, as the standards for the one he was choosing were far higher, but that was also by design. Theron didn’t just want a place to gather information. He wasn’t going to be the schemer anymore.

He wanted information for the sake of protecting himself. But if he was going to win, he was going to do it with his blade. That he had already long decided without a shadow of a doubt.

Theron took a breath and then sat down.

“Since you don’t have any information on the current world for me, you’ll have to inform me about what you do know. Cultivation.”

Theron had never directly questioned the Nightingale Ancestor Bird about cultivation, as he hadn’t quite had the time to do so. He spent so long finding a method to refine it—not to mention the time he spent getting his Dark Mana up to par—that there hadn’t been a moment between that and joining the gathering.

But now, he had all the time in the world. So once more, he did what he always did…

Start from the beginning.

Even if he was going to be a warrior from now on… that didn’t mean he had to be a fool.

…

Theron must have questioned the Nightingale Ancestor Bird for days on end, relentless. With his soul’s breakthrough, his need for rest was even more insignificant than it had been before, not to mention the fact he was a Gold Mancer now. Not only could he stave off fatigue, but he was capable of staying in a hyper state of focus for much longer.

He bet that he could really start making a dent in his library now too. It had grown overwhelming, especially after stepping on the Hall planet. But now he had the capital to read at speeds he couldn’t fathom before.

By the end of the first day, Theron fully understood the ins and outs of what had happened to him. The Matriarch of the Hall had been somewhat informed about Voidwroughts but couldn’t even begin to match up to the Nightingale Ancestor Bird.

According to it, its Clan, despite its status, had never produced such a genius before in the first place. However, they were powerful enough that they had heard of such existences from afar.

The Nightingale Ancestor Bird even had enough information to inform Theron that he was a Perfect False Voidwrought.

It made Theron wonder just how powerful True Voidwroughts were. How powerful was it to be born with such Cores to begin with?

According to the Ancestor Bird, True Voidwroughts were born into the Dome of Heaven Realm. Well, he said this with a grain of salt. He had barely heard of False Voidwroughts, let alone True ones. But it painted a picture of just the sort of monsters they were.

However, what caught Theron’s attention the most about this first day was none of this.

It was the realization that he had actually failed his Soul Tribulation.

He wasn’t 100% sure at first, but after cobbling together all of the words of the Nightingale Ancestor Bird, he was certain.

But the question that left was obvious.

How the hell could one fail a Tribulation and yet still progress as though nothing had happened?
