Capítulo 467: Lies and Truth

Third Person’s POV

The new joiners simply couldn’t believe that someone similar to their age could display such might and world defying power that could make everyone totally helpless in a second.

And that misunderstanding might just become his greatest advantage, or so he thought as Ethan was completely unaware that the dark-haired man who led the royal contingent of the Empire of Abyssal Dominion had been silent all this time.

His gaze had been fixed on Ethan since the moment the fight had ended.

Countless thoughts were churning through that man’s mind, because he alone among the young spectators was certain that the originator of the world, eclipsing darkness, had been none other than Ethan himself.

Meanwhile, Ethan almost felt like smiling at the thought that his true power had not been exposed to everyone.

Still, he restrained himself as he knew that even the faintest hint of amusement would only convince the furious crowd that he had been the one who killed young lord Jack and was now secretly taking pleasure in it, making his case only worse in front of the powerful lady who had saved him.

At that moment, the beautiful and noble woman in red finally turned her attention toward Ethan.

Her long, narrow crimson eyes glowed with an overwhelming authority and an almost oppressive aura of power, though it could not hide her beauty and attractiveness.

“Is that true, young man?” she asked calmly.

“Did you truly kill young student Jack and his family members?”

Her tone held no bias, no hint of familiarity, and no trace of protection.

Hearing those words, many of the new joiner men and even the earth deacon could not help but feel a surge of joy at Ethan’s apparent misfortune as they thought that he would finally be punished for his arrogance and his apparent crimes.

Some of them were already imagining a severe punishment being handed down to him, like being expelled from the Sanctum or perhaps even the death penalty.

And in truth, the powerful woman in red did not know Ethan at all.

She only knew that she had received a direct order from her Master, a few moments ago, to watch over this young man and ensure that he was not harmed fatally or framed by some malicious scheme.

Beyond that, she had also been instructed not to favor him blindly, except in situations where his life was truly in danger.

However, her Master did not know how high her personal standards were.

She could not understand why a forbidden and noble existence like her Master would show such interest in a mere youth who, on the surface, did not appear to be anyone special.

And the only conclusion she could reach was that Ethan must possess an extraordinary background or be backed by some powerful hidden figure in his family or faction, who her master must owe a favor.

And this thought irritated her deeply as she herself had risen from a common background by enduring an untold amount of hardships, unfairness, humiliations, bloodshed, and countless near-death crises to reach her current level of power.

And the people she despised the most were those arrogant young men and women born into privilege and mighty families, who used their status to trample, exploit, and destroy the common folk and struggling warriors.

In her eyes, such people were lascivious, useless, lazy, and utterly repulsive.

And from what she had seen so far, Ethan seemed to fit that mold all too well.

He had three beautiful girls clearly caring for him, worrying for him, and even showing affection toward him.

Yet even that did not appear to satisfy him, as he had supposedly gone after another man’s woman and tried to cuckold him, a behavior all too common among spoiled young masters, though this time, the victim had been a noble young lord as well.

She did sense that something about the earth deacon’s account felt off, as though pieces of the truth were being hidden or it was too biased against the young man she was supposed to help, so she decided to observe for herself before drawing any conclusions.

Among those quietly rejoicing at Ethan’s plight were also members of the dark royal clan.

One particular young man suddenly burst into wild laughter with so much joy, and it was so intense that his hood slipped off his head.

Ethan, the three girls, and even the siblings, Fiona and Lucien, instantly recognized him.

He was the same arrogant and aggressive young man whom Ethan had beaten badly in the small restaurant two days earlier, back in the mountain village at the entrance to the Sanctum realm.

Seeing him and the other familiar dark-robed figures gathered around him, a sudden realization struck Ethan like a spark igniting dry tinder.

A faint bulb seemed to light up in his mind, especially when he recalled the dangerous and mysterious dark-haired young man who clearly stood at their center, radiating authority even without speaking.

There was something deeply unsettling about that group.

However, Ethan did not have the luxury of following that line of thought to its conclusion as the weight of the current situation pressed down on him, and more importantly, he still had to answer the beautiful yet overwhelmingly powerful lady’s question.

“Young lord Jack and his lackeys are indeed dead,” Ethan said calmly, his voice hoarse but steady.

“They died during that spell of eclipsing darkness, but it was not me who killed them.”

A ripple went through the crowd.

“Instead,” he continued, lifting his hand to point at the old bony demon,

“It was that old bony monster. He sneak attacked me and casually slaughtered young lord Jack and his followers with the clear intent of shifting the blame onto me.”

The moment Ethan openly pointed the finger and blabbered such accusations, the proud and noble lady finally turned her full attention toward the bony figure that stood out like a grotesque sore thumb among the crowd of the new joiners.
