Capítulo 465: The Lady in Red
Third Person’s POV
To Ethan’s and everyone else’s astonishment, even the world-eclipsing darkness he had unleashed was torn apart and dispersed in mere seconds by those brutal, bloody winds, as though it had never existed at all.
Seeing the bloody storm, the old bony demon gently landed on the ground, totally unnerved by the horrifying windstorm.
He narrowed his eyes, and his expression turned grim and calculating as he felt the pressure of that terrifying power wash over him.
The little game he had been playing was clearly over.
“As I thought… they have arrived,” he mused inwardly, his thoughts calm despite the chaos.
“Later than expected, but still… just in time.”
And instead of panic and fear, a faint, twisted amusement flickered through his mind.
“Good thing I already informed Master about this possibility.”
Slowly, the bloody storm receded, the winds faded, the sky cleared, and visibility returned to the square.
But none of the gathered students or deacons paid attention to Ethan’s battered figure lying in the soaked garden below, except for the group of three girls consisting of Virelle, Velcy, and Lucy, who started to search for him secretly with their eyes moving here and there.
All eyes were drawn upward, and there, floating effortlessly in the air, was a woman whose presence alone made the world seem to bow.
She had long flowing blond hair, regal crimson robes embroidered with elegant golden patterns, and bewitching blood-red eyes that glowed with quiet authority.
Her lips were full and vividly red, yet her expression carried an aloof, aristocratic calm.
She was breathtakingly beautiful, seductive, radiant, and terrifying in equal measure.
Yet the immense nobility and pressure she radiated instantly crushed any trace of lust from the minds of the men who gazed upon her.
In its place, only awe, reverence, and instinctive submission filled the air as everyone realized who had arrived, the noble powerhouse who had just torn apart darkness itself and ended a calamity with a single spell.
Her gaze cut through the chaos like lightning as it locked onto Ethan’s body lying half-hidden among the crushed bushes nearby.
Yet she did not spare him even a second glance after locating him, though that single sharp look was enough for the three girls to find him instantly.
Without a second of hesitation, Virelle flashed to his side and helped him sit up against the broken stone and trampled grass.
But the moment Lucy saw the blackened wounds and frozen blood across his body, tears welled up in her eyes and began to fall freely.
Beside her, Velcy’s small hands trembled as worry and chaos flooded her expression, and slowly her eyes shifted into a deep, glowing blue, showing that she was losing control.
Her scars began to fade, and her grey hair started to pale, strand by strand, turning eerily white.
Lucy’s sobbing abruptly stopped when she noticed Velcy’s sudden change, her attention finally snapping toward the little girl she had barely noticed until now.
Virelle reacted instantly as she stepped forward and shielded Velcy from the gazes of the surrounding crowd.
Meanwhile, Ethan forced himself upright and pulled Velcy into his lap, hiding her from the view of the crowd behind his body.
He gently patted her back and lowered his voice as if soothing a frightened child.
“Calm down, Velcy… this isn’t the place to reveal your true self.”
Hearing his steady voice and feeling his familiar warmth, Velcy slowly relaxed as she felt that his condition was not as severe as it first seemed.
The strange glow in her eyes dimmed, and her transformation halted before it could go any further.
Seeing this, Ethan carefully set her down and turned to the three girls.
“I am fine for now. I have only lost my accumulated energy, and these injuries can be healed, so you three don’t have to worry.
Now, focus there as what matters is what happens next.”
None of the three was convinced by his words, not with his body still bleeding and covered in dark, festering wounds, but seeing the thick layers of ice sealing his injuries, they reluctantly swallowed their panic and turned their eyes back toward the square.
Behind the floating lady in red, more and more figures slowly began to emerge from the towers and halls of the academy.
Middle-aged men and women dressed in deacon robes, older students with hardened gazes, and people in pristine white coats who were clearly professors streamed out in growing numbers.
They had all been drawn by the terrifying clash and the massive surge of power that had easily disturbed everyone in the sanctum.
The destruction left behind, the shattered ground, torn gardens, and lingering bloody haze from the blood storm made many of them pale as they whispered among themselves.
Yet none dared to step forward or speak loudly while the red-robed woman hovered silently above the square, as they clearly knew who she was.
Ethan observed everything with narrowed eyes.
And from what he could tell, this woman had likely been summoned by the duchess to intervene, yet instead of questioning him or punishing anyone, she simply hovered there, watching.
The contradiction made his frown deepen as he continued forcing icy mana through his body, freezing the foul energy inside him completely to stop its spread, and so he could later expel it completely.
He knew trouble was far from over as a larger scheme had already been set into motion, and this was only one small part of it.
Slowly, the attention of the gathered crowd shifted again, and they began to notice the old, bony demon standing in the ruined square.
Its terrifying aura and devilish appearance sent chills down their spines.
Lucy unconsciously tightened her grip on Ethan’s hand, her body trembling as she stared at the hellish creature whose presence felt like death itself.
Some of the onlookers suddenly recognised him.
The bulky earth demon’s lips quivered as he spoke in disbelief.
“Is… is that you, Senior Logan?”
