Chapter 666: Chapter 666. A Spirit Beast Fit for A King

While Shou Zou was occupied, Amon flew toward the Winged Qilin. He wanted to eliminate Xin Wuyun so that she could not use her healing art, but he left that task to his followers. He stood before the Winged Qilin, preventing it from aiding either Shou Zou or Xin Wuyun.

“You…,” the Winged Qilin uttered. “I sensed extreme discomfort from your body. This is weird… Have you perhaps ever come in contact with an object from the Lower World?”

Amon narrowed his eyes. While eliminating Xin Wuyun was crucial to winning this battle, he decided that eliminating the Winged Qilin should take even higher priority now.

Amon threw his ceremonial dagger at the Winged Qilin. The Winged Qilin turned into a ray of light and dodged the dagger. Using the Xian Cloth, Amon redirected the ceremonial dagger and slashed at where the Winged Qilin had moved, but it dashed away again.

The Winged Qilin didn’t concede to just dodging. After evading the ceremonial dagger a third time, its two eyes shone with bright light. Amon sensed danger even before the eyes started glowing. He immediately stepped to the side, just as the space where he was a moment ago imploded with white light.

“Hm…?” The Winged Qilin was surprised its opponents evaded its instant-strike move, but thought it was just a coincidence. It again dodged the ceremonial dagger’s slash before unleashing another eye-flash attack. To its surprise, Amon moved away from the strike area a split second before his assault hit.

“How did you do it…?” The Winged Qilin asked. “You clearly don’t have the speed to dodge my attack. No… You start moving before my attack is fully unleashed. It’s like, you can predict my attack…?”

“How about you stop moving and I will tell you,” Amon said as he performed another swing.

The Winged Qilin again turned into a light and dodged the ceremonial dagger. But this time, it found itself surrounded by six large hovering knives.

Amon’s Alpha Flying Knives blocked all the Winged Qilin’s escape paths. No matter where it moved to, it would be struck by one. It also couldn’t stay still, because the ceremonial dagger had come for it again.

The Winged Qilin didn’t dodge this time. It hunkered down, and the antlers on its head started glowing. The light expanded and covered its entire body. The ceremonial dagger and the six Alpha Flying Knives stopped in their tracks when they hit this light.

The light erupted into a flashing shockwave that repelled all of Amon’s weapons.

“Impressive,” Amon praised. “Light-speed movements, a seemingly-undodgeable assault, and a powerful defense. You excel in all fields. You are truly a spirit beast fit for a king.”

The Alpha Flying Knives flew back to Amon’s side and hovered around him. As they did, a voice filled with surprise was heard not far away.

“Flying Sword art? How did you learn that art?” Xin Wuyun asked. She was fighting against two opponents, the Great Sun Hawk and Lin Li. She herself used the same martial arts. Two longswords flew around her as she used palm attacks.

Amon glanced at her but didn’t bother to reply.

Xin Wuyun made a move to charge toward Amon. She yelled, “The Flying Sword art is the Temple of Divinity’s divine arts. You profane that art by learning it without permission. Cease using it at once!”

Lin Li came in her path before she could advance far. “Where are you going? Your opponent is us,” Lin Li said. She slashed her sharp claws.

“Foul beast, do not get in my way!” Xin Wuyun spun her palms. A large Yin-Yang symbol materialized following her palm movements. Lin Li felt like her claws were caught in a hurricane. A fierce radial force swept her arms to the side.

Before Xin Wuyun could perform a follow-up attack, an intense heat forced her to back away. A stream of condensed fire from the Great Sun Hawk chased after her as she retreated. All over the hawk’s body were cut marks caused by Xin Wuyun’s two flying swords.

“Thanks, hawk!” Lin Li exclaimed as she jumped onto the Great Sun Hawk’s back. Her claws flashed and struck the two flying swords, preventing them from wounding the Great Sun Hawk further.

Amon sent a mental command for the two to keep forcing Xin Wuyun away from both Shou Zou and the Winged Qilin. He didn’t want her healing either one.

Amon activated the Great Virulent Serpent. Earlier, he had used the Body-strengthening Meridian Points technique and consumed a Faux Strength Pill when still invisible. Adding the transformation art, his power had now risen to half Beginning Lord Stage level. He used Invisible Sky Steps and dashed forward.

The Winged Qilin was alarmed by Amon’s aura. It already sensed that his aura was way above his cultivation level, but the aura increased even more now. Thankfully, it possessed light-speed movements, which could even trouble Lord Stage cultivators. It moved away before Amon arrived.

Amon could change direction at a sharp angle thanks to his movement arts. He stayed behind the Winged Qilin’s tail, which surprised the spirit beast. It changed direction a few more times. Amon did the same. The two were in a cat-and-mouse chase at blinding speed.

Throughout the chase, Amon’s ceremonial dagger and Alpha Flying Knives never stopped moving. They moved following Amon’s will. They limited the direction the Winged Qilin could take. It learned distressingly that the available paths reduced with each turn it took. After around twelve turns, it found that it could only go one way, and a large blue battle puppet was at the end of that path.

The Winged Qilin used its eye-flash strike to attempt to move the blue puppet away from its path, but the blue puppet remained in the spot after the implosion of light.

Seeing no other choice, the Winged Qilin lifted the hooves on its front legs and kicked. The light speed also granted it the momentum to deliver a powerful kick. The kick struck an energy shield generated by the blue battle puppet. The collision failed to push the blue battle puppet away. It was the Winged Qilin whose movement had stopped due to the recoil.

The blue battle puppet was Amon’s Beta Puppet. The battle puppet could block even an attack from an Intermediate Lord Stage. What’s more of an attack from a Mid Mythical beast?

The Beta Puppet was here because Amon called it. After the Earth Elemental revealed its true form, it was strong enough to keep Shou Zou busy by itself. The Alpha and Beta puppets only served as support in the fight. So, when Amon secretly pulled the two battle puppets away, no one noticed amidst the heat of battle.

Once the Winged Qilin was stopped by the Beta Puppet, the Alpha Flying Knives closed in. From above, the Alpha Puppet also struck. The Winged Qilin’s horn glowed, and it was covered by a shell of light.

Like before, the Alpha Flying Knives failed to penetrate the shield, but it was a different matter with the Alpha Puppet. The Alpha Puppet could wound even the body of an Intermediate Lord Stage cultivator. The Winged Qilin’s light shell might be top-notch among its peers, but it was not strong enough to block the Alpha Puppet’s chainsaw sword.

The chainsaw sword plunged through the shell made of light and severed one of the Winged Qilin’s forelimbs. The Qilin’s cry of pain echoed through a long distance.

Shou Zou didn’t need to hear the cry to know his tamed beast had been wounded. He could feel its anguish through their mental link. This drove him to exert his full power.

A powerful geyser of water shot out of the ground he was standing on. The water jet shattered all the rocks that impeded his movements. The huge amount of water then formed into a gigantic axe, which was swung downward. All the Earth Elemental’s sand tentacles in the watery axe’s path were split apart. It then cleaved into the ground and caused an earthquake. Multiple water waves burst from the point of impact, washing away all the rocks and sand.

“Out of my way, you dirt…!!!” Shou Zou exclaimed as he shot in the Winged Qilin’s direction. He continued swinging his axe, cutting the reformed sand tentacles that aimed to bar his advance.

While Shou Zou’s rage generated power that allowed him to break through the Earth Elemental’s confinement, it was not enough to escape. He slashed all the sand tentacles that came in his way, but was late in sensing the one that chased him from behind.

One of the cut sand tentacles reformed and extended. It then latched onto Shou Zou’s left foot. Before Shou Zou could react, the sand tentacle had already pulled on the foot. Shou Zou was dragged backward and slammed into the ground. The Earth Elemental’s sandy body hovered over it. Its sandy hand had collected nearby rocks to form a giant rock fist. This rock fist was brought down on Shou Zou.

Shou Zou blocked this rock fist using his stone axe. The punching power sent him submerging deeper into the ground. The sound of rumbling soil prevented him from hearing any noise, but he heard another cry of pain from the Winged Qilin via his mental link. It was louder and more agonizing this time.

Please donate your power stone and golden ticket. Thank you very much! 🙂
