Capítulo 663: Chapter 663. Rage Blood
The tribe’s warriors fought with feverish zeal. They were already bloodthirsty warriors with unusual lust for combat because of their devotion to the old ways. This passion was further boosted by their desire to win the seats in the conclave. The battle puppets followed behind these warriors. They mainly served as support while recording every enemy killed by the tribe’s warriors.
Among the old tribes, the Xan and Fen tribes seemed most passionate. They coordinated well and cut through the enemy ranks following their respective leaders. Their offense was so effective that they punched all the way through to the middle part of the enemy’s formation, where the enemy was fighting Echos’ soldiers.
Xan Chi, who was at the head, saw Xiong Jie among the enemies.
Xiong Jie and her blood tiger mowed through Echos’ soldiers mercilessly. She held an insanely huge two-handed sword with a serrated edge. That sword was even bigger than her body. Every time she swung, the bodies of Echos’ soldiers were split apart.
“Haha!” Xan Chi laughed. The scores they got from killing enemies differed based on the enemy’s cultivation levels and ranks. Xiong Jie was known as Shou Zou’s second-in-command. If he could kill the woman, no one would protest even if they suspected Amon helped elevate his tribe’s score.
“Get her!” Xan Chi pointed in Xiong Jie’s direction. His Gajashura, which followed closely, charged forward with explosive speed. It crashed into the Kazhan soldiers in its way and trampled them without slowing down. Its six trunks swayed left and right with powerful blows. The enemies hit by these thick trunks were sent flying.
Xiong Jie noticed the incoming behemoth, but her pet reacted first. The blood tiger leaped past her and rushed toward the Gajashura. They were both low mythical beasts. Even though the Gajashura was larger, the blood tiger wasn’t fazed. The tiger agilely leaped left and right when the Gajashura’s elongated trunks came smashing. None of the trunks managed to hit their targets.
The blood tiger moved with blinding speed and used its crimson claws to slash the Gajashura’s side. The claws hit but drew no blood. The Gajashura’s hide was too thick and sturdy. All the sharp claws did was leave long marks.
“Fuck off, you ugly cat!” Xan Chi came. His weapon was a metal hammer. He swung this hammer at the blood tiger from behind.
The blood tiger detected the incoming attack. It curled its feathery tail and placed the wide end of that tail in the hammer’s path. Xan Chi’s hammer struck the fan-like tail. Even though the feathery tail looked fragile, Xan Chi felt as if he had struck a metal shield. A shockwave resulted from the impact. The blood tiger was thrown away and smashed into the ground, but Xan Chi’s forward momentum was stopped.
“How dare you hurt my tiger…!” Xiong Jie exclaimed. She was in the air with her giant sword behind her. A torrent of flames emerged around the sword and coated it. When she swung the blade forward, a massive flame burst followed her swing.
This flame burst hit both the Gajashura and Xan Chi. Xan Chi blocked using his hammer, but was still thrown back. He had the same cultivation level as Xiong Jie, at the Peak Spirit Stage. But from the clash, he knew Xiong Jie was stronger than him.
The Gajashura was pushed back one step. Its side was scorched black by the flameburst. It didn’t suffer any serious damage, but the pain enraged it. It trumpeted loudly before charging forward. Its six trunks elongated and shot forward. They wanted to grab Xiong Jie.
They were unsuccessful. Xiong Jie’s movement art produced a mist as she zoomed away. The six trunks grabbed only empty air filled with misty vapor.
The blood tiger came back. It leaped on the Gajashura when the Gajashura’s attention was on Xiong Jie. It used its sharp claws to cling to the Gajashura’s back. It then tried biting its opponent’s neck. It failed, but didn’t stop. It continued biting, hoping to pierce through the Gajashura’s thick hide with repeated attempts. The Gajashura jumped and moved frantically to buck off the blood tiger.
Xan Chi moved to aid his pet, but Xiong Jie came in his way.
“Move aside, you ugly woman!” Xan Chi exclaimed while swinging his hammer her way.
Xiong Jie was enraged by the insult. Though she admitted she was not the fairest maiden, she was also not completely unattractive. She never cared about her appearance, but her woman’s instinct refused to bear this insult.
“Die, you lowly man!” Xiong Jie returned.
Their weapons clashed repeatedly. Xan Chi’s hammer had a layer of tough rock encasing it. Each swing also produced a hail of sharp rocks. As for Xiong Jie’s giant sword, each swing conjured an intense flame burst. The flame burnt the sharp rocks before they ever reached her.
After repeated clashes, Xan Chi was forced to stagger back because he couldn’t stand the pressure.
Xiong Jie didn’t let the chance go. She positioned her sword at the beginning of a thrusting motion. Massive fire swirled around her. When she thrust, the fire formed multiple giant swords that assailed Xan Chi from all directions.
Xan Chi swung his hammer rapidly to strike the incoming flaming swords, but there were too many. He resorted to erecting a thick rock shield for protection, but this also failed to stop the flames. His rock shield shattered in a short time. The flaming swords stabbed into his body, which was now covered by a layer of rocks.
The flaming sword attacks ended with a massive explosion. Xan Chi slammed into the ground. When the dust settled, Xan Chi was seen at the center of a crater. His body was full of bloody wounds.
Xiong Jie jumped toward him. Her sword was lifted high. She was ready to deliver the finishing blow.
“Not so fast, bitch!”
A voice interrupted Xiong Jie at the same time she sensed someone rushing at her. She turned and saw Fen Nu. Fen Nu wielded a large axe with serrated edges.
Xiong Jie blocked the incoming axe with her sword. With a wave, she threw Fen Nu away. Fen Nu was only at the intermediate Spirit Stage. If even Xan Chi couldn’t win against Xiong Jie, what more of her?
“You are courting death,” Xiong Jie threatened Fen Nu. She was about to move, but she felt a strong aura rising from below her. She looked down and was surprised to find Xan Chi standing. His body was covered by his own blood, but he was grinning widely. She noticed changes in his body. His muscles bulged unnaturally, making him appear bigger. His skin also showed many dark red veins.
“Thanks for buying me time,” Xan Chi said to Fen Nu.
“How…?” Xiong Jie asked in surprise. The aura she sensed from Xan Chi made him seem like a different person. It was much more powerful than before.
“Hehe, he has a special constitution,” Fen Nu chuckled. “You should have heard about it. His special constitution is called Rage Blood.”
“Rage Blood?” Xiong Jie uttered with wide eyes. “The same special constitution possessed by the great Kazhan hero from the olden time?”
“My clan descended from that famous hero,” Xan Chi said. “I am the first to exhibit his special constitution. The more wounded and angrier I get, the stronger I become. Now, let’s try this again, shall we?”
Xan Chi stomped his foot into the ground. As he did, the ground around him erupted. Out of this eruption, several large stone obelisks with sharp tips flew out. These obelisks rushed toward Xiong Jie.
Xiong Jie used her movement art. She zoomed away, leaving a trail of mist. She didn’t flee the stone obelisks, though. The obelisks changed direction as if they were homing missiles. Xan Chi jumped and landed on one of the obelisks. He rode it as they chased after Xiong Jie.
“Haahh…!” Xiong Jie didn’t just move away. The flames swirling around his giant sword turned larger with time. When the flame covered the entire sword, she swung it. The resulting flame burst made everyone in the vicinity feel like they had been hit by a massive explosion. The frontmost stone obelisks splintered from the blast. The rear ones survived but had cracks all over their surfaces, and their speed slowed.
Xiong Jie made a few more slashes. Her slashes created a river of flames that swirled around her. The remaining stone obelisks also broke apart after touching this river of flames.
Xan Chi leaped before the obelisk he was riding was destroyed. He swung his hammer at the river of flames before him. The river shattered like it was a solid object.
Xan Chi and Xiong Jie again exchanged strikes. Their weapons clashed repeatedly, but with a notable difference. This time, it was Xiong Jie who was forced back after repeated clashes.
Xan Chi laughed excitedly at the outcome. “Hahaha! I am the reincarnation of the great Kazhan hero. You won’t be able to defeat me…!”
His excitement was interrupted, as with everyone on the battlefield. The battle seemed to pause for a moment. This was because their attention was all drawn to something behind Echos’ puppet army. A mountain had emerged out of nowhere. It was so vast that it blocked the sun and cast a long shadow over those on the battlefield.
