“What should we do?” Xiong Jie asked.

“What else can we do? Of course, we must return to Bulo City!” Shou Zou exclaimed. “I can’t have those barbarians ransack my castle!”

“That is unacceptable!” A woman exclaimed. She wore different attire from other Kazhan soldiers. Her dress was elegant and had a priestly look. She was a liaison from Oredolia to Kazhan’s royal court, a Bishop of the Temple of Divinity. Her name was Xin Wuyun. “If you retreat, Gyleth Marx’s full force will pour into Oredolia. We can’t have that!”

“Forgive me, bishop, but I can’t lose my home,” Shou Zou responded.

“Your home cannot be compared to the holy dwelling of our Hierophant. You must stay and continue the war!” Xin Wuyun insisted.

“Back off, bishop!” Xiong Jie inserted herself between Xin Wuyun and Shou Zou. “If you want to complain, then have your temple send one to Echos’ king. You assured us that Echos is our ally in this war, that they will keep Khode busy, so we don’t have to worry about our rear. Now, look what happens!”

“Be polite, Xiong Jie. She is a representative of the faith,” Shou Zou admonished. He then turned to Xin Wuyun and said, “Don’t worry, bishop. The temple is blessed by heaven. I’m sure it will be fine. The war won’t end so soon. We will just be making a temporary retreat. Once I deal with the upstarts who think they can cause trouble when I’m not around, I will return here and deal with Gyleth Marx.”

Most tribes canceled their intention to send help to Bulo City after seeing that it was Kazhan’s tribes that spearheaded the march. Instead of answering, Amon turned to Xin Wuming and asked, “Do we have the position of Kazhan’s royal army?”

“They are on their way, but even with their speedy marching speed, they still require five more days to arrive.”

Amon found the intel was within expectation. Kazhan’s royal army was too late when it became aware of this assault. The royal army was still within Gyleth Marx’s territory when it happened. Thus, it took longer to arrive here.

Amon turned to Yi Chaisan next. “Have the engravers and formation sages finished studying the words of power powering Bulo City’s wall?”

Yi Chaisan nodded. “It took some time because we needed someone with Eagle Eyes to observe the engravings, but the words of power were pretty simple, so they had learned their weakest nodes.”

Finally, Amon turned to Xan Chi and answered his question, “My army will surround the city and deal with the wall barrier. Once we take down the barrier, I will leave it to you and the other tribes to take over the city. There are not many soldiers inside the city. Your force should be enough to occupy the city. My army will remain outside.”

“Great,” Xan Chi responded. He preferred it this way. This country was theirs. They should be the ones who did this. The other tribe chiefs agreed with him.

Amon had the royal puppet army, and the human puppets encircled the city. The Yuanxu Cannons spread following them. Once they were in position, the cannons opened fire.

Amon’s tribe allies were impressed by the range and power of the Yuanxu Cannons. They never saw such a weapon in Kazhan. The words of power on the wall of Bulo City flickered fiercely as the barrier was bombarded from all sides.

The Yuanxu Cannons did not spread randomly. They followed Yi Chaisan’s instructions and targeted particular spots. These were the weak points identified by the engravers and formation sages. Thanks to this knowledge, added with the fact that Bulo City’s barrier was not as strong as those in Khode, it didn’t take long for the Yuanxu Cannon to obliterate the barrier.

Once the barrier was gone, Xan Chi uttered a rallying war cry and charged forward. All the warriors from the old tribes joined his charge.

The Yuanxu Cannons continued firing before the tribe warriors reached the city. Their targets were the city gates. With the words of power exhausted, the gates broke to pieces in just a few shots. Human Realm tribe warriors charged in through those broken gates while their Martial Realm warriors flew past above the city wall.

The resistance from the city turned out fiercer than they expected. There were indeed only a few soldiers inside, but many civilian cultivators joined the fight. These civilian cultivators came from clans that either descended from slaves or were newly freed slaves. They knew what the first thing these old tribes would do if they came into power. It was to undo all their efforts over these decades to abolish the slave trade. In other words, they were fighting for their future.

Despite their zeal, these ex-slave clans were mostly poor. Their ancestors were mostly non-cultivators, so they had little talent. This resulted in many of their members having low cultivation levels. Though their number was considerable, they were no match for the old tribes’ warriors.

Bulo City fell after half a day of battle. The tribes’ warriors took over the castle. They eliminated everyone who resisted and apprehended those who surrendered.

After the battle was over, Amon sent Echos’ soldiers and a portion of his battle puppets into the city to help with the security. As for the Royal Puppet Army and the human puppets, he pretended to send them away to patrol before storing them in his black space ring.

He ordered Shi Hei and Yi Chaisan to lead the reparation of the city wall, as well as reinforcing the words of power to give the wall a stronger barrier, before Kazhan’s royal army arrived. They had Khode specialists under their command, so they should have no problem.

Amon himself went to the castle with a squad of his soldiers.
