Capítulo 640: Chapter 640. Free-falling

During the first hours of the battle between the First Demon Army and the Royal Puppet Army, Xin Wuming aided Amon when he charged toward Dabao City. As a result, he got surrounded by the enemies. He would have been swarmed and dragged to the ground if not for Wu Di’s timely rescue.

However, the two found that their way back was blocked. Too many enemies were between them and the First Demon Army. Realizing that returning was too risky, Wu Di suggested they go after Amon instead, in the direction of Dabao City. Xin Wuming agreed without hesitation.

On their way, they again encountered a blockade, because Amon had released his puppet army to stop the Royal Puppet Army from chasing him. Thankfully, the enemy’s focus was not on them, so they followed part of the Royal Puppet Army that had broken through. They continued and entered through the hole in the capital’s barrier created by Amon.

Xin Wuming decided to use his transformation art, One With The Blade, and told Wu Di to hold on to him.

The rioters were too busy fighting the Royal Puppet Army that had re-entered the capital to stop them. With Xin Wuming’s speed in sword form, they managed to get into the Council Pylon and made their way to the top.

Amon positioned Lin Li at the entry point to stop anyone from intruding on the battle in the Council Hall. In the case when she could not stop the intruders, she could warn him so he didn’t get caught in the middle of using his infernal arts.

He couldn’t stop Zee Whang from spilling his secret, though.

“Come at me, you demon followers! I will show you the folly of opposing my Supreme Puppet!” Zee Whang exclaimed.

Wu Di stood up. His leg had reattached. He responded to Zee Whang, “I know he is a demon who cares not for the innocence, but he is still our general. We will defeat you and claim victory for the glory of our kingdom!!”

Amon was glad for Wu Di’s simple-mindedness. Wu Di interpreted Zee Whang’s remark as an indication of Amon’s personality. Wu Di didn’t consider that Zee Whang meant his words literally.

Amon was also thankful that Zee Whang was an asocial person. He didn’t bother to correct Wu Di’s misunderstanding. He screamed at Wu Di, who was charging back at him, “I would like to see you try!!”

As for Xin Wuming, the guy was too hurt to hear what Zee Whang said. Most of his bones were broken from the Supreme Puppet’s punch. He was lucky his entire body didn’t explode from the punch. The Supreme Puppet had greatly weakened compared to when it started battling Amon. Xin Wuming was currently whimpering on the floor while his bones and flesh were reattaching themselves.

Wu Di’s body enlarged as he advanced. His mastery over the Gigas Blood had reached Master level. He could now gigantify his whole body. His size was now almost as big as the Supreme Puppet.

Wu Di didn’t advance alone. The Alpha Puppet returned. The three giants entered a close-combat brawl.

Amon rose. His whole body hurt. He had been using the Nine Moon Restorative Mantra to mend his injuries while Zee Whang was occupied. He figured he could move again. Receiving another direct blow, however, was a different matter.

He moved toward Xin Wuming. The guy had recovered enough to sit, but he still had trouble moving.

“Can you turn into a sword again?” Amon asked.

“Sorry, brother. It will be some time before I can do that. My bones had not completely healed,” Xin Wuming answered.

“How about channeling your energy to perform an attack?”

“I can, but I still cannot move properly.”

“I will take care of that,” Amon said. The vines from his body wrapped around Xin Wuming. He told Xin Wuming, “Prepare yourself. You will be my sword.”

Xin Wuming held his golden longsword tightly with two hands. He steadied his breathing and regulated the flow of his aether to his sword. The golden layer covering his sword shone brighter as the power of the Gold Enhancement increased.

Amon observed the battle between Zee Whang, Wu Di, and the Alpha Puppet. The close battle between the three was fierce. Zee Whang’s Supreme Puppet was obviously stronger than the two, but he must commend Wu Di’s bravery and tenacity.

The Saintly Ape and Gigas Blood greatly enhanced Wu Di’s body. His physical traits were significantly higher than those of standard cultivators. Even so, every punch from the Supreme Puppet broke his bones. Yet, he refused to retreat. He didn’t lose to the Alpha Puppet that possessed no fear or felt any pain.

It was only when the Supreme Puppet fired another concussive blast directly at him that he was knocked away. Simultaneously, when the concussive blast was discharged, the Supreme Puppet’s eyes fired another light beam at the Alpha Puppet. The Alpha Puppet was also knocked back. Half its chest, which received a direct blast from the beam, was torn off.

Amon acted then. He used the Corporeal Shifting Branches to hurl Xin Wuming. He threw his subordinate like he threw his flying knife. Xin Wuming didn’t fight it. He flew straight at Zee Whang with his longsword extended forward.

Amon’s accuracy remained whether he was throwing a flying knife or a willing person. Xin Wuming noticed Amon’s intended target mid-flight. A deep scar was in the glass dome. This was the scar Amon caused when he slashed using the ceremonial dagger’s hidden power. Xin Wuming aimed his thrust right at this scar.

Zee Whang had just unleashed two consecutive attacks that repelled his opponents. He didn’t expect another attack to come so soon. Even when the alarm warned him, he failed to react in time.

The tip of Xin Wuming’s sword stabbed with precision into the scar in the glass dome. Aside from the scar, the glass also had many cracks by now. It couldn’t withstand the golden sword. Xin Wuming’s accumulated energy boosted the sword’s piercing power. The sword penetrated the glass and went straight for Zee Whang.

Zee Whang yelped in shock and fear. The sword was about to stab his chest. Unfortunately, the friction with the glass slowed the sword until it came to a stop just an inch from Zee Whang’s chest. Its penetrating power had been exhausted after piercing the glass.

The slap made Xin Wuming release his grip. His longsword remained stuck in the glass dome.

While Zee Whang escaped a fatal wound, he soon found his two previous adversaries had returned. The Alpha Puppet and giant-sized Wu Di charged at him with body blows. The three collided. They were already close to the edge of the hall. The momentum of this collision sent all three flying out of the hall. Once outside, they were hit by the no-fly zone effect and dropped to the ground far below.

Seeing that, Amon chased after them. He jumped out and fell with them.

Under the no-fly zone effect, even the flight unit of the battle puppets was disabled. Everyone was free-falling without control. During this situation, the only viable option was long-range attacks.

Zee Whang took the initiative to strike first. He had almost depleted his puppet’s energy. The one available long-range weapon that didn’t consume much energy was the saw chain. He fired the saw chain at the Alpha Puppet. The saw chain wrapped around the puppet’s body before pulling it over.

When the Alpha Puppet arrived, the Supreme Puppet’s upper body spun. Its torso became a rotating axis. Using the momentum of the spin, it swung its axe-arm. The blade of the axe was again bursting with fire. The axe cleaved hard into the Alpha Puppet’s waist and split it in two.

Another spin and the axe whacked the Alpha Puppet in its head. Its upper body, with the shattered head, was flung away from the hit.

*BEEP!*BEEP!*BEEP!*

The alarm again sounded. Zee Whang turned in time to see that Wu Di’s hand was glowing.

“You should have targeted me first, fool!” Wu Di exclaimed before firing his Evil Destroying Light.

The thick beam of light washed over the Supreme Puppet. Even inside the cockpit, Zee Whang could feel as if he was being seared by divine fire. The alarm continued to blare while the monitor warned him of the damage his puppet had suffered.

When the beam of light dissipated, he was shocked to find Amon right above him. The Supreme Puppet’s warning system was occupied by Wu Di’s Evil Destroying Light, so it didn’t register Amon’s approach until the light beam ended. By then, Amon was too close already.

While everyone else couldn’t control their fall, Amon was different. This world’s cultivator was used to flying using their cultivation power. They were not used to falling. Amon, on the other hand, had mastered the art of skydiving in his many missions that required parachuting. He had no problem pinpointing his fall and catching up to Zee Whang, who fell earlier.

With a somersault, Amon performed a kick, which accurately landed on the hilt of Xin Wuming’s sword that was still stuck in the glass dome. The kick pushed the sword in deeper. Zee Whang, who didn’t expect this attack, didn’t have time to dodge or execute a defensive art. The tip of the sword pierced his right chest.
