Capítulo 639: Chapter 639. Unwelcome Reinforcement

Inside the Council Hall, Amon was in the middle of delivering the killing blow while Zee Whang was distracted by the Alpha Puppet. Unfortunately, Zee Whang possessed something akin to Amon’s danger sense inside the Supreme Puppet. The alarm in the cockpit blared. It warned Zee Whang of the impending threat.

The Supreme Puppet unleashed its concussive shockwave again, knocking the Alpha Puppet back while halting Amon’s advance. At the same time, its body shone. Countless rays of light were discharged after that shine.

Amon had already moved away after seeing the shine. He wasn’t willing to take the risk. As he backed away, he performed Infinite Phantom Slash. His dagger, empowered by infernal energy, was strong enough to block the powerful rays. The black smoke that shot out of his dagger with each slash formed a shell that enveloped his surroundings, preventing the rays of light from reaching him.

Once the rays of light ended, Amon threw the flame lance in his hand.

His mastery of this art had reached the Grandmaster level. At this level, the lance was longer, and it could be maintained. The flame lance didn’t vanish when he canceled his attack attempt. It remained gripped in his hand like he was holding a real spear. It continued to exist even after leaving his hand, allowing the lance to be thrown.

Zee Whang didn’t expect the swift counterattack. He expected his rays of light to either obliterate the enemy or at least force them away, allowing him a breather. He was shocked when he heard the alarm inside his cockpit blare again.

This battle might be the most taxing he had ever had in his life. Even his fight against the High Council was less stressful. He couldn’t count how many times his alarm had sounded since the battle against Amon began. He was hyperventilating, despite moving very little inside the cockpit.

This never-ending stress finally took its toll. His reaction slowed. He didn’t respond fast enough to the latest warning. All he managed to do was tilt the Supreme Puppet to the side, which let him dodge the flame lance from landing a fatal hit.

The flame lance easily pierced through his barrier, which had been greatly weakened from previous punishments. The flame lance missed the glass dome and stabbed into the Supreme Puppet’s left shoulder, right at the junction.

If it were a normal art or weapon, the attack would have bounced off the hard shell of the Supreme Puppet. Amon’s Flame Lance, however, was boosted by the fused aether from his mixed energy space. It stabbed right in and pierced out the other side, creating a large gape in the shoulder.

“Fuck…!!” Zee Whang cursed. The monitor before him was filled with damage reports. His Supreme Puppet had lost all control of its left arm.

While he was flummoxed, the alarm sounded again. He found many vines attached to his Supreme Puppet. Like the Flame Lance that damaged his puppet’s left arm, his sensors detected both divine and infernal energies in these vines.

He traced the vines and found that they originated from Amon. He used the axe in his puppet’s right arm to cut through the vines. The axe cut through half the vines but lost its momentum and failed to cut the remaining. During the pause, the vines regenerated and re-entangled his puppet again.

He was about to perform another swing to cut the vines, but a black smoke in the shape of a weird beast emerged from Amon’s left arm. This smoke beast clamped its fangs and claws into his puppet’s one remaining arm. To his surprise, the strength exhibited by this smoke beast could restrain his puppet’s movement.

His alarm then warned him of the Alpha Puppet that came from his left. With the arm on that side useless and his other arm restrained, he couldn’t block the incoming blow. The Alpha Puppet’s golden morning star slammed into his puppet.

His Supreme Puppet was durable enough to withstand a few blows from the Alpha Puppet, but he didn’t dare to test how many blows were the limit. He used the jet boosters to distance himself, dragging Amon along since he was still bound by the vines.

Amon somersaulted in the air while using the Corporeal Shifting Branches to pull himself closer to Zee Whang. Right then, he heard Lin Li’s voice in his mind, “Brother, Xuang Feng’s woman is here.”

“Stop her! Don’t let her come up here,” Amon instructed.

“That should not be a problem. She seemed intent on fighting me. I can easily draw her away and… Oh no!”

“What?” Amon asked.

“Xin Wuming and Wu Di. They are heading up. They are too fast! I can’t stop them.”

“Damn it!” Amon cursed. “Bo Wu, come back!”

Zee Whang fired the homing beam when Amon tried to get close. Amon had been using the vines to move himself around, dodging the beam while inching toward Zee Whang. The last piece of news distracted him enough that the beam caught up with him. He used his left arm again to block, just as Bo Wu returned. At the same time, he deactivated all his infernal-based arts.

Zee Whang had been cutting the vines nonstop, but they kept on regenerating. Suddenly, his sensors indicated that the strange energy enveloping the vines was gone. The vines became much weaker then. One swing of his puppet’s axe managed to cut all the vines. His puppet was free. At the same time, the black tentacles hovering near the center of the hall vanished. The black, fiery sword protruding from Amon’s dagger was also no more.

“Haha! You finally run out of energy, eh?!” Zee Whang laughed.

Without the fused aether supporting Amon’s Corporeal Shifting Branches, the vines were not as durable, and their regenerative properties were not rapid enough. Zee Whang utilized this chance to swing its axe arm at Amon, who remained close.

Amon blocked the swing using his left arm. By then, Zee Whang was no longer surprised by how hardy that arm was. He followed up with a quick kick. The Supreme Puppet’s foot landed squarely on Amon’s chest.

Amon flew away from the kick. He almost flew out of the hall, but his cut vines managed to grab one of the pillars. The vines pivoted him and threw him back into the hall. He landed on the floor and vomited blood. Several of his chest bones had fractured from the kick just now.

The Alpha Puppet was charging at the Supreme Puppet, but Zee Whang didn’t worry as long as Amon couldn’t use his power anymore. He was confident his Supreme Puppet could defeat the Alpha Puppet even with only one arm.

However, his excitement was interrupted when his sensors warned him of an incoming menace. Two unknown objects were approaching at high speed. He turned and was just in time to see a giant sword burst out of the access point from the central shaft below. A gold-furred ape was clinging to the sword.

The Supreme Puppet’s sensors informed Zee Whang that the sword was a living being. As if confirming the data, the sword changed direction and headed directly for him.

The sword’s speed allowed it to arrive first before the Alpha Puppet. Zee Whang wasn’t concerned, though. His sensors informed him that the two newcomers were only at the Beginning Spirit Stage. Their power levels, however, were slightly higher than the average cultivators of the same level.

The sword broke the Supreme Puppet’s barrier, which was too weak already, but failed to hit its target. The Supreme Puppet spun in its torso, dodging the sword, and slammed its axe-arm into the sword’s side. The sword shattered and transformed into Xin Wuming.

Wu Di, in his Saintly Ape form, leaped when the sword was punched. He landed above the Supreme Puppet and delivered rapid punches to the glass dome protecting Zee Whang. Each punch resulted in explosions due to his Ignition Fist. The alarm inside the Supreme Puppet’s cockpit was blaring again. Small cracks started manifesting on the glass.

The Supreme Puppet swiped its axe at Wu Di. Wu Di leaped away when he saw the counterattack, but he was not fast enough. His left leg was cut.

Zee Whang followed up by shooting the saw chain. The chain should have chopped off Wu Di’s head, but it veered off course because the Alpha Puppet bumped into the Supreme Puppet just as the saw chain was shot.

“Fuck!” Zee Whang cursed. Due to the fast-paced, never-ending exchanges, he missed reading the sensors and forgot about the Alpha Puppet.

The two battle puppets got into a close-range tussle again. Wu Di used the reprieve to pick up his cut leg and reattach it. Reattaching was faster than waiting for it to regenerate.

Xin Wuming received internal wounds from the punch earlier, but forced himself to advance. He used Gold Enhancement on his longsword and performed Death Blossoming Sword. Countless flowers with sharp petals surrounded the Supreme Puppet while it exchanged blows with the Alpha Puppet.

These flowers spun like saws and attempted to cut into the Supreme Puppet from all directions. Sparks flew from the friction. The Supreme Puppet’s shell was hard enough to resist, but Zee Whang could see from the readings that these attacks drained his puppet’s energy, which maintained defense.

“Fuck off!” The Supreme Puppet swung its arm and forcefully smacked the Alpha Puppet away. A repulsive shockwave was discharged afterward. Obliterating all the bladed flowers. Zee Whang ended his string of attacks by landing a punch at Xin Wuming.

Zee Whang was shouting when he performed the attack, “Aren’t you two the subordinates of that demon general? Very well! I will crush and send you all to hell…!!”
