Capítulo 636: Chapter 636. Facing the Supreme Councilor

Amon exited Zee Whang’s private workshop through the hole he made in the floor. He then flew toward the access point to the council room above. He instructed Lin Li and the Great Sun Hawk to stay here and guard the access point.

Amon used the body-strengthening meridian points technique on his way. He also ate the last remaining strength pill in his possession. The boost from the one he had consumed earlier had come to an end. More than three hours had passed since then.

As he flew into the access point, several rioters were still flying up to join the battle. Interestingly, many rioters flew down. Fear was clear in their expression. They were like prey that fled from a predator. The rioters who flew up were confused by this. They called those who flew past them, but the ones they called were too distressed to answer their call.

Only after they arrived in the council room did they understand what had happened. Corpses lay everywhere. The surviving rioters fought against a single opponent, a giant battle puppet with a large, transparent glass dome for a head. Zee Whang was seen inside this glass dome.

When Amon flew into the hall, Zee Whang’s giant puppet had one mechanical hand holding Ha Shouze’s head. Ha Shouze banged his fists at the mechanical arm, but it didn’t loosen its grip. Hong Dao was lying near the puppet’s feet, bloody and motionless.

“Let go of our leader!” a group of rioters exclaimed as they charged toward Zee Whang.

“Hahaha!” Zee Whang laughed. A saw chain shot out from the battle puppet’s free arm. With one wave of the arm, this saw chain cut through the charging group of rioters. While that happened, the puppet’s other hand tightened, crushing Ha Shouze’s head.

“Haha! Die, you worms…!!!” Countless rays of light shot out of the battle puppet. They went in every direction, piercing the rioters who were still alive.

“Begone!” Zee Whang exclaimed.

A massive shockwave exploded out of his battle puppet. Those who managed to use defensive arts and survived the rays of light were blasted away. Since there were no walls, the living and dead rioters were swept by the shockwave and thrown out of the building. Once they were outside, the no-fly zone enchantment took hold and caused them to fall. Those still alive would have to return to the shaft again to get back to the council room. But after the recent experience, they had no plan of doing that.

Those who just entered after the blast were shocked by what they witnessed. They immediately turned tail and ran. Soon, no more rioters entered the council room.

Zee Whang was still laughing inside his battle puppet. He was about to transform his battle puppet back into the shell throne when he noticed one person was still inside the hall.

“Hm…?” He turned to this person. After one glance, he immediately identified this person.

“Well, well, well,” he uttered. “If it is not General Amon, the commander of the Echos’ army. I’m surprised to see you among those foolish worms I have just banished. Are you here with the same foolish intention as them?”

“I’m flattered you recognize me,” Amon replied.

“You have a distinctive appearance, General Amon. Not to mention, you have fought with Khode’s battle puppets before. Anything they saw was sent into my database, so in a way, I have seen you before. By the way, you don’t look too concerned about me wiping out those fools who came before you.”

“I don’t. I expected this to happen,” Amon replied.

“Oh…?” Zee Whang was surprised. He assumed Amon planned to gang up on him with the rioters.

“Those fools forgot that you once took out the high council. There was one person in the high council who was a Beginning Lord Stage cultivator. Before you became the Supreme Councilor, your cultivation was only at the Peak Mystic Stage. For you to defeat the High Council, you should have a power equivalent to a Beginning Lord Stage. That power must be that giant puppet you are riding.”

“I named this puppet the Supreme Puppet,” Zee Whang informed. “This puppet’s grade is high-tier runic. While it has a power rivaling a Beginning Lord Stage, it is not the sole reason I managed to defeat Khode’s Lord Stage Councillor. That councillor was also incapacitated by poison before I made my move.”

“Poison…? I never heard that either you or Khode experts have proficiency in using poison, especially not one that can affect a Lord Stage cultivator.”

“Let’s just say I’m connected to people who are experts in such a field.”

Amon pondered for a bit before saying, “Hm… Could your connection be the people from the Lower World?”

Zee Whang frowned upon hearing it. He didn’t expect Amon to draw that conclusion.

“From your expression, I assume I have hit the mark,” Amon said with a grin.

“Hmph, I have no idea why you think that way,” Zee Whang denied.

“Whatever. Before we begin, I want to express my compliments and ask one question,” Amon said. “You are very talented. Your Royal Puppet Army and Supreme Puppet are extraordinary. I don’t believe there is anyone in this world with the talent of puppet making as good as yours.”

“Haha! That goes without saying,” Zee Whang laughed. Pride was unmistakably evident in his voice. “You mentioned one question. What is it? I will allow you that before I punish you like those others for daring to intrude on my throne room without permission.”

Amon smiled. “My question is this. Are you willing to serve me in my quest to conquer this world?”

Zee Whang’s prideful grin disappeared abruptly. His expression was replaced by one that showed surprise and confusion, before returning to his usual cold, dismissive countenance.

“Hm… Heh… Hehe… Haha… Hahaha! Hahahaha…!!”

Zee Whang’s laughter became louder the more he laughed. Amon remained still while floating near the edge of the hall.

“Hahaha! I haven’t had such a good laugh like this for a long time!” Zee Whang exclaimed. “Serve you? Are you not sure it should be the other way around? I might still consider it if you throw yourself under my feet and beg me to accept you as my follower.”

“I see. I guess I have no choice but to eliminate you in this case,” Amon stated.

“Hm… Interesting,” Zee Whang uttered. “All the readings from my Supreme Puppet’s sensors indicate that you are not bluffing. You truly meant what you said, which means you are either a fool or a delusional lunatic. I found it hard to believe that someone who managed to fight their way here would be such a person. Yet, I have no other conclusion…

“My Spirit Sense informed me that you are only at the Mystic Stage, but you must be using concealment art, because my puppet’s aura sensor tells me you are at the Intermediate Spirit Stage. However, your power reading puts you more at the Peak Spirit Stage. Fascinating… Such confusing results will surely mislead your opponents if they rely only on their cultivation senses. Your trick, however, is useless against me.”

“Impressive, I will try my best to remove you without destroying that Supreme Puppet,” Amon said.

“Hehe, you are still saying it like you have a chance,” Zee Whang chuckled. “As I said, I know your power output is at the Peak Spirit Stage. No matter how I see it, you have no chance to win. So, are you a delusional lunatic?”

Amon sneered without giving a response.

“Very well. If you have nothing more to say, you can die now.” The Supreme Puppet pointed one arm at Amon. The saw chain that cut the rioters earlier shot out again.

Amon activated the Great Virulent Serpent just before the saw chain was shot. His speed and strength increased. He charged forward while tilting his body. The saw chain went past beside him.

Amon’s precision took Zee Whang by surprise. His puppet’s sensors informed him that Amon’s power output had increased again. It was now halfway to the Beginning Lord Stage.

Amon swung his ceremonial dagger using Infinite Phantom Slash once Zee Whang was within range. The weapon turned into a blur as it crisscrossed around the Supreme Puppet. However, none of the slashes hit because a barrier was protecting the puppet.

Beeping sounds warned Zee Whang inside the puppet. He saw from the reading that Amon’s slashes could pierce through the barrier if they were not stopped.

What looked like eyes under the Supreme Puppet’s glass dome started shining. This shine became a bright beam that shot at Amon. Amon sensed the danger and used the Invisible Sky Steps to dodge the beam. To his surprise, the beam turned mid-flight and went in his direction.

Amon also turned multiple times in the air without slowing down, thanks to his Invisible Sky Steps. However, the beam had homing ability. It continued to turn following Amon’s movements. When Amon could no longer escape, he used his left arm to block the beam.

The resulting impact threw him to the floor. He skidded on the floor and was almost thrown out of the hall. He stabbed his dagger onto the floor at the last moment to prevent that from happening.
