Capítulo 634: Chapter 634. Ascending the Council Pylon
When Amon flew high up in the sky to get behind the Royal Puppet Army, Wai Kung and what’s left of the Grand Militia were on their way to get behind the First Demon Army. They were taking a long, roundabout path to avoid the enemy’s defensive line. If they could do that, they could disrupt the enemy’s Yuanxu Cannons and give the Royal Puppet Army a better chance at victory.
They stopped when they saw some enemies trying to cross from above using spirit beasts. One of their people used Eagle Eye and identified Amon among the enemies riding those spirit beasts.
Wai Kung didn’t believe the enemy commander would go behind the enemy line with so few supports without a good reason. Additionally, Wai Ling saw Amon as one of the main targets for her revenge. Hence, they turned around and went where Amon appeared to be heading.
Like Gao Xingzi and Zhong Yuan, they were also shocked when they saw a large army of battle puppets appearing where Amon had landed. They paused due to their shock. When they saw Amon resume his movement toward the capital, they resumed their pursuit.
Zue Du observed the enemy battle puppet engaging the Royal Puppet Army. It was obvious that Amon intended to stop the Royal Puppet Army from returning to the capital.
He asked Wai Kung, “Should we hit the enemy battle puppets from behind. Considering their situation, we should be able to disrupt them even with our small number.”
Wai Kung looked between Amon and his puppet army. While he was pondering, a woman suddenly appeared on the firebird Amon was riding.
“That’s the spirit beast that can disguise itself as a human,” Wai Kung said.
Hearing that, Wai Ling hissed, “You people can go to fight those battle puppets if you want. I will go after that bitch…!!”
There was no way Wai Kung would let his daughter face Amon and the woman spirit beast by herself. He told Zue Du, “For the enemy commander to risk going behind the enemy line with so few people, he must have prepared a scheme. I’m also worried about that alarm. Something is happening inside the capital.”
“But the capital is already sealed, how can they…”
Zue Du stopped his speech when he saw the Yao Bird spew the black fog near the capital’s barrier. Not long after, he saw Amon’s entourage enter the fog and come out on the other side of the barrier.
“How…?” He asked in bewilderment.
The black fog thinned as they approached. By the time they arrived, it had dispersed. They saw a hole in the barrier, allowing a small team to enter.
While the others were stationary due to their puzzlement, Wai Ling jumped through the hole. She didn’t care how Amon made this hole. All she cared about was catching up to her targets and killing them.
“Ling, wait! Don’t be rash!” Wai Kung exclaimed. He jumped in and chased Wai Ling.
The others turned to Zue Du. Zue Du looked back at the battle puppets still blocking the Royal Puppet Army before returning his attention forward. “Let’s go,” he said, and entered the capital through the hole.
Since the hole only allowed a small team to enter at a time, it took a while for all of them to enter.

Ahead, the Great Sun Hawk and the Yao Bird continued flying toward the Council Pylon. Approaching the building, he saw a large crowd outside. He surveyed the crowd until he found someone he knew.
“Lin Xiaolong!” Amon called. He left the Great Sun Hawk and flew down.
Lin Xiaolong looked over when he heard his name called. Next to him were Hong Zi and Ha Velet, the branch leaders of the Vagrant Sect and the Charger Guild in Surly Gate Town.
“Boss,” Lin Xiaolong greeted Amon. The two branch leaders beside him addressed Amon with a salute.
“Why are you hanging outside here? Is the way up being blocked?” Amon asked.
“It is,” Lin Xiaolong answered. “There are still plenty of battle puppets guarding this building. They barred the central shaft, which is the only way to the top floor aside from the elevator.”
“We can’t use the elevator. It is controlled by the Supreme Councilor,” Ha Velet explained.
“That’s why we are stuck out here,” Lin Xiaolong said. “The central shaft is not big enough to accommodate all of us.”
“Don’t worry,” Hong Zi said. “Our leaders are leading the charge. Our strongest members are with them. It is only a matter of time until we breach the top floor where the Supreme Councilor resides.”
“Time is against us,” Amon said. “There is a regiment of past Khode’s soldiers rushing here as we speak. Those loyalists will seek to undo your uprising. You had better deal with them.”
“Really? Damn those fools!” Ha Velet cursed. “Can’t they see there is no use sucking up to the Supreme Councilor? Don’t they know that the tyrant wishes to turn us all into puppets?”
Aside from telling Zee Min about Zee Whang’s plan for Khode, Amon also informed Hong Zi and Ha Velet. This gave the two organizations the resolution to finally carry out the uprising and assured Amon that they wouldn’t chicken out at the last moment, because it was now their survival that was on the line.
“Perhaps they are not aware?” Hong Zi asked. “We should try communicating and explaining the situation to them.
“You are welcome to try, but I don’t think they will give you much chance. They will do all they can to get into this tower,” Amon said. “They will probably even use the reason that they want to get to me, but what they truly want is to get to the Supreme Councilor and protect him.”
“We won’t let that happen!” Ha Velet exclaimed.
Amon nodded. “Since not many can get in, we should leave the spots to the strongest of us. My people and I will go in and help your leaders. You make sure the enemy can’t receive reinforcements.”
“Don’t worry. Nothing will get past us,” Lin Xiaolong declared.
“I need to warn you also. Depending on how long it takes us to defeat the Supreme Councilor, a portion of the Royal Puppet Army might succeed in returning. At that time, you need to buy us as much time as possible.”
Everyone’s face was grim. Stopping a regiment of ex-Khode’s soldiers was one thing, but facing the Royal Puppet Army was another. They did not look forward to it. However, they knew this was the only chance they had. If they failed this uprising, there would be no second chance.
“We will stop them,” Hong Zi said. “Just try to finish this as soon as possible.”
“That is my plan,” Amon said. He levitated and entered the Council Pylon by flying above the people crowding the place. The Great Sun Hawk and the Yao Bird followed him. The main entrance of the building was large enough to allow spirit beasts to enter.
The inside was a large hall. The battle puppets on this ground floor had all been defeated. The crowd inside showed Amon the way to the second floor, which was the access to the central shaft.
Amon flew up via the grand stairs to the second floor. Amon saw lots of corpses and broken battle puppets on this floor. At the center of that floor was an open ceiling. Looking up at this open ceiling was an enormous shaft that seemed to be hundreds of meters in height. From what Lin Xiaolong said, this shaft extended to the top floor.
Spiralling along the surface of this shaft was a winding staircase. The Human Realm rioters used this staircase to climb up. However, Amon saw that this staircase had been destroyed midway, no doubt by the battle puppets protecting the way upstairs. The remaining Human Realm rioters were on their way down since they couldn’t climb further.
This meant the only ones who could reach the Supreme Councilor were the Martial Realm cultivators. Currently, many of these cultivators were fighting the battle puppets guarding the shaft. From the way it looked, they had pushed the battle puppets to around three-quarters of the shaft’s length.
“Stay behind me,” Amon told Gao Xingzi. “I will do the fighting. You make sure Zhong Yuan is safe.”
Gao Xingzi was confused as to why Amon insisted on bringing Zhong Yuan along. Wasn’t their objective to defeat the Supreme Councilor? There were plenty of stronger cultivators for the job.
Despite her confusion, she didn’t voice her thoughts. As an assassin, she was used to carrying out orders without knowing the reason. She had the Yao Bird follow the Great Sun Hawk.
Dead cultivators and broken battle puppets continued to rain on them as they ascended the shaft. They could see the battle above was fierce, but the cultivators were winning. They had a bigger number. Even if the battle puppets had no fear and could not get tired, they still couldn’t withstand attacks from all directions.
By the time Amon arrived, only a few were left. Amon had the Great Sun Hawk fire a few fireballs, incinerating the half-damaged puppets and announcing their arrival at the same time.
This drew the attention of Hong Dao and Ha Shouze. The two never met Amon before but knew his appearance.
“General Amon from Echos?” Ha Shouze asked.
“I am,” Amon confirmed. “I am also your liberator.”
