Chapter 633: Chapter 633. The Uprising Commences

The scene when the Royal Puppet Army charged out of Dabao City grabbed the attention of almost every citizen inside the capital. It was difficult to miss the occurrence considering the massive number of battle puppets sprinting down the streets and flying through the air.

These citizens gathered near the perimeter, just before the defensive barrier, and watched as the Royal Puppet Army clashed with the First Demon Army. They couldn’t see the battle in detail, but they could judge which side was in trouble. All they could see was a sea of battle puppets. Echos’ army was completely obscured by the puppet army’s massive number.

“It’s time,” someone in the crowd said.

The one he spoke to nodded. The two left the crowd. Many among the masses followed them. As they walked, more people joined them. Before long, they crowded the streets they tread on.

When they reached a gate along the wall that separated the slum from the central district, two battle puppets stopped them. Common citizens were typically barred from entering the central district, where the skyscrapers were located. Normally, citizens abided by this rule. This time, they did not.

“Step aside, tin can!” A citizen shouted. He lunged forward with a kick.

One of the battle puppets was shoved into the gate by the kick. The kick was so hard that it broke the gate and sent the battle puppet sprawling on the ground. Unlike the outer wall, this inner wall was only symbolic. It was not protected by a barrier.

The other battle puppet was swarmed by other citizens.

“A bit too excited, aren’t you, Brother Hong Dao?” An elder-looking man asked the one who had kicked the battle puppet.

“Of course, Brother Ha Shouze!” Hong Dao replied. “It is finally time for our two organizations to fulfill our destiny! It is time for us to rise! We will become the people’s fists and avenge all the tyrannical deeds the Supreme Councilor did!”

Hong Dao was the main leader of the Vagrant Sect, while Ha Shouze was the main leader of the Charger Guild. The two had been in talks with Amon via Lin Xiaolong over the past few months to organize this uprising. They were to act once the First Demon Army drew the Royal Puppet Army out of the capital.

“Come on, Brother Ha Shouze! Time is of the essence! We must take down the tyrant before his army returns!”

Hong Dao shot forward. He stepped on the battle puppet he had kicked earlier, causing it to sink into the ground when it tried to get back up.

Ha Shouze addressed the crowd before following Hong Dao. “Everyone! The uprising has begun. It’s time to let out all your pent-up anger! To the Council Pylon!!”

The mass let out a fiery war cry in response. They charged forward with Hong Dao and Ha Shouze in the lead.

Some battle puppets were still on the streets, but they were mostly low-grade ones meant for menial labor. These battle puppets banded together to try to stop the rioters, but they were greatly outnumbered and outmatched. Before long, the riot reached its target building, the Council Pylon.

They looked at the towering building. Several Mystic Stage cultivators tried flying up to reach the top floor from the outside, but they failed to fly any higher after flying halfway.

“Too bad we failed to get access to deactivate the force field that was preventing us from flying,” Ha Shouze said. “We can only reach the top floor from inside the building.”

“Then what are we waiting for?” Hong Dao exclaimed. He approached the entrance door of Council Pylon, which was locked. Several people had tried forcing it to open, but the door was protected by strong words of power.

“Move aside!” He exclaimed.

As he approached the door, rocks materialized and converged on his right hand. They formed into a giant rock fist. He lunged and punched his rock fist forward. The impact created a shockwave that caused the words of power on the door to flash brightly.

“Stupid door, you will not stop our righteous anger…!”

Hong Dao pulled his hand and punched again. This time, his punch was performed using martial arts. His rock fist rushed forward with a conjured image of a roaring panther.

“Let me aid you!” Ha Shouze exclaimed. His two palms thrust forward. A surging wave of water followed his palms.

The two of them had the cultivation level of the Intermediate Spirit Stage. Hong Dao’s fist and Ha Shouze’s palms crashed into the door simultaneously. The words of power protecting the door could finally not endure the pressure. The door gave in and flew off its hinges. The way inside was open.

As the crowd rushed in, they noticed that the inside still had plenty of battle puppets. These were the building’s security, separate from the Royal Puppet Army. These battle puppets attacked the people who intruded on the building.

The people fought back. The one they feared was the Royal Puppet Army. These standard battle puppets wouldn’t stop them from delivering their justice!

—————

An alarm sounded from Dabao City when the rioters stormed the streets toward the Council Pylon. When the alarm sounded, Amon had flown via high altitude and reached the enemy’s back line. Amon commandeered the Great Sun Hawk to land back on the ground.

Several bird puppets continued chasing Amon despite Xin Wuming’s interference, but their speed couldn’t match the two spirit beasts.

The pursuing puppets were not many because Amon and the others were only three humans and two spirit beasts. The puppet army’s collective analysis concluded that even if the enemy reached their back line, those enemies couldn’t achieve much. Hence, they continued to push at their primary target, the First Demon Army.

Things became different once the alarm sounded. Those on the back line turned back in Dabao City’s direction. Their order was to destroy the First Demon Army, but their primary directive was still the Supreme Councilor’s safety. The alarm of the capital was linked to their system. Thus, they were compelled to return.

Not the entire puppet army followed that command. Their computing intelligence was advanced enough to understand that they would suffer considerable losses if they pulled out just like that. The puppet army split in two. Two-thirds of the army, including those already engaging the First Demon Army, continued to push their advance. They calculated that this number should be sufficient to achieve victory, albeit requiring a longer time. The remaining one-third turned and rushed back to the capital.

Seeing the incoming army, Amon released the battle puppets he hid inside his black space ring. Out of the thirty thousand battle puppets possessed by the First Demon Army, only a tiny portion was fighting on the front line. Those puppets were there so they could utilize the elemental mines during the battle.

Zhong Yuan and Gao Xingzi were shocked when the horde of battle puppets appeared around them. Zhong Yuan no longer believed that Amon used a superior space ring for this trick.

The army of battle puppets Amon had released spread out and formed a long line. After releasing the battle puppets, Amon released the next things he stored inside his black space ring. A swarm of elemental mines spread behind the battle puppets.

The two puppet armies met one another. The returning Royal Puppet Army had a superior number compared to Amon’s army of battle puppets, but the elemental mines evened the odds, at least for now.

“Hurry!” Amon told Gao Xingzi and Zhong Yuan while his puppet army blocked the enemy. He had the Great Sun Hawk resume its flight toward Dabao City.

On the way, Amon noticed something. He said silently, “Lin Li, come out in your human form.”

Lin Li materialized atop the Great Sun Hawk, surprising Zhong Yuan and Gao Xingzi. Lin Li asked Amon what he needed her for.

“One of these days, you need to tell me how you do these magic tricks of pulling insane things out of thin air,” Zhong Yuan remarked.

Amon didn’t bother to explain to the two. He jumped down from the Great Sun Hawk once he arrived before the capital’s barrier. “Xingzi, do it!” He ordered.

Gao Xingzi commanded her Yao Bird to spew its black fog. Amon disappeared into the black fog. Not long after, he told everyone. “Come in!”

The two spirit beasts entered the fog while carrying their passengers. Inside the darkness of the fog, they continued to advance even when they should have bumped into the barrier. When they came out of the fog, they saw that they were already on the other side of the barrier.

“I also demand an explanation on how you breached the barrier so easily,” Zhong Yuan uttered.

Amon ignored him again. He climbed back atop the Great Sun Hawk and commanded it to fly toward the Council Pylon.

They passed many rioters who were fighting against the battle puppets scattered all over the capital. These rioters saw them and did not attempt to bar their way. The Vagrant Sect and the Charger Guild had informed their members about Amon’s features. They were to let him pass if they saw him.
