Capítulo 598: Chapter 598. Your Magnificent
Dabao City was not only the capital of Khode, but it was also the largest city in the nation. If Amon saw the city, he would find it familiar. The city had many large, towering buildings reminiscent of the skyscrapers of his previous life, though not as high.
Each of these towering buildings had walls filled with engravings. The words of power filling their surfaces provided them with the structural integrity to remain standing despite their shallow foundations.
Separating these towering structures were wide, paved streets. The streets were filled with many carts that moved by themselves. Working puppets also moved along the streets, performing various tasks such as cleaning and delivering items.
What seemed missing was the human population. Very few were seen along those streets littered with automated carts and puppets.
The view of Dabao City’s suburbs, however, was a total reverse of its inner part. Cluttered, smaller-scaled buildings littered the areas, crowded by people. The place looked more like a slum. The streets were filled with rubbish and makeshift tents to accommodate the homeless. The scene between the inner and outer districts was as if heaven and hell.
At the center of Dabao City was its tallest tower. The tower was like a giant, black obelisk that pierced into the sky. This tower had a mushroom-shaped top. The roof of its highest floor was supported by pillars without any walls. This made the top floor open-air. This floor was where the High Council of Khode used to hold their meetings in the past.
Nowadays, this floor served as the throne room of the supreme councilor.
Even though the floor was open air, it didn’t mean it was vulnerable to intrusion. Like any other Khode large settlements, Dabao City possessed a protective barrier. But inside this protective barrier, there was an additional defensive measure.
The tops of the many skyscrapers in the inner district had words of power that affected the sky above the city. Anyone who tried flying a certain height would find themselves pulled down. This created a no-fly zone above the inner district of Dabao City. Anyone who wished to reach the throne room would have to use the official method.
The tower where the throne room rested was called the Council Pylon. Inside this tower was an elevator that carried guests who had been granted permission to the throne room above. This elevator was the official method to enter the throne room.
Right now, a few people were inside the elevator, which was on its way to the top. They had just been granted an audience with the supreme councilor.
Two men and two women stood inside the elevator. The eldest man in the group stood near the controls, while the other man, who had a scholarly air, observed the surroundings. One middle-aged woman leaned against the wall, while the younger woman stared straight ahead. All four maintained silence during their ride to the top floor.
When the elevator arrived, two battle puppets stepped forward and opened the door for them. The floor was guarded by numerous battle puppets, all standing at attention as the guests exited. These puppets served as the supreme councilor’s security detail.
The four guests took in the majestic view of Dabao City through the open, wall-less interior at extreme altitude, but did not linger. They walked to the middle of the room. There, a giant, golden shell-shaped bed rested. Behind this bed stood the Mental Regulator, much larger than the one Amon confiscated.
Atop the bed was an incredibly obese man. Fat covered almost every part of him. There were no visible joints in his body because they were obscured by the overlaying fat. This man was the supreme Councilor, Zee Whang.
Lying on his side and hugged by his fleshy arms were two naked women. They were not there of their own free will because they had the receiver module helmet on their heads.
Zee Wang’s head, which seemed to possess no neck, turned to his guests. His gaze was both dismissive and condescending.
Two large battle puppets barred the four when they approached. These two battle puppets were mid-tier runic. However, they were much stronger than the normal mid-tier runic puppets used by Xuang Feng and Zee Min. These two had power roughly equal to that of Peak Spirit Stage cultivators.
Additionally, the other battle puppets on this floor, numbered around one hundred, were all top-notch. They were all either low-tier runic or mid-tier runic grades. If the four guests tried anything, they would be the ones in trouble.
“That is close enough,” Zee Whang said. “Tell me. Why do you come to my abode and disturb me?”
The four bowed. The eldest of the four, Wai Kung, replied, “Your Magnificent, forgive our intrusion. We are here because the Echos Army’s invasion has taken a discouraging turn. Zee Min’s army had been defeated. What was left of her force had retreated to Steam Water City. The Echos Army is now rampaging throughout the land and is most likely on its way here.”
“Hmph… That whelp lost?” Zee Whang uttered. Disdain was clear in his voice. “After I warned her what would happen if she lost, that still happened. I guess it is indeed a folly to put your hope in a human, even if the human is one of your relatives.”
The younger man, whose name was Wei Zhuang, said, “Your Magnificent, it is unfair to put the blame entirely on General Zee Min. From what we gather, the enemy from Echos is not your typical opponent. We should stop underestimating them. Echos must have sent its best for this invasion.”
“Its best? Did they send Jiang Tong? The Immortal God of War?” Zee Whang asked.
“No. From our intel, the enemy commander is someone called General Amon,” the young woman called Zue Siao answered.
The older woman, Wai Ling, who was also Wai Kung’s daughter, added, “General Amon is Echos’ new king’s trusted aide. The news is that this Amon was instrumental to the current king winning the recent ascension trial. He is very famous in Echos.”
“Hmph! If it is not Jiang Tong, then they didn’t send their best,” Zee Whang stated.
“Regardless, our side is not doing so well,” Wai Kung said. “We need to act before they reach this capital.”
“Hmph, let them. They will know their folly once they meet my Royal Puppet Army.”
“While we all agree that the Royal Puppet Army is invincible, we can’t ignore the plight of our other cities,” Wai Kung said. “God knows what malice they do to our citizens.”
“From what we know, they stole our mental regulator machine,” Wai Ling added. “They used that machine to enslave our citizens.”
“Hehe.”
The sound of Zee Whang’s chuckle surprised the four. Instead of being disgusted by what he heard, Zee Whang was amused instead.
“Screw those citizens,” Zee Whang uttered. “Humans cannot be trusted anyway. I know those citizens are planning a revolt behind my back. Let Echos’ army do as they pleased with them. I don’t give a damn. I will deal with them if they dare to come here and bother me.”
Wai Kung frowned at the statement, and Zee Whang noticed. He asked, “You don’t approve?”
“I don’t dare, Your Magnificent.” Wai Kung bowed.
“Hmph, probably you people are also among those who planned to revolt. Like I said, humans can’t be trusted. I wonder what you say behind my back. Maybe I should just be done with you lot and attach signal receivers to your heads. Like these two. Look at them.”
Zee Whang was referring to the two naked women by his side. “They loathe me so much after I slay their parents for opposing me. After I put these helmets on them, they willingly become my sex toys, hahaha! There will be a day when everyone in this nation becomes my human puppets. If you want to avoid that fate, then you must prove that you are my most obedient servants.”
“We will always be your most obedient servants,” Wai Kung bowed even lower. The other three made the same gesture.
“That said, this invasion by Echos is your mess. You are the ones who proposed to invade them. Now, they retaliate.”
“Your Magnificent, the invasion is important for…”
“Spare me your reason!” Zee Whang cut Wei Zhuang’s speech. “I care neither for this world nor its inhabitants. They can all go to shit for all I care. I allowed the invasion into Echos because you were getting on my nerves by pestering me with it. I could either execute you or give you what you wanted to shut you up. I still had use for you then, so I chose the latter.”
“In that case, may I ask for permission to act on this invasion?” Wai Kung asked.
“Hm… Well, this is your mess, so okay. I will let you people deal with this mess yourself. You may mobilize the army of Khode.”
“Thank you, Your Magnificent,” Wai Kung said.
“A word of warning, though,” Zee Whang said. “If you ever turn this army on me. I promise you I will make you and your entire clan suffer. Do you understand?”
