Capítulo 1319: Film Festival Part 12
“This year’s Best Short Drama Award goes to… Vanguard Entertainment Group: Transmigrated to Daxia Dynasty as Young Master of the Vanguard Clan!”
Edwin announced excitedly and beckoned for Xu Feng to come to the stage to receive his award.
Applause resounded through the stage, with many singing praises that the award was well deserved.
Naturally, it was hard to believe that everyone was filled with sincerity. If it weren’t for the live recording, who knows how many wanted to curse or demean Xu Feng?
Sometime later, Xu Feng excused himself from the table and approached the center stage.
“Congratulations, Actor Feng.” Edwin extended his hand.
“Thank you,” Xu Feng smiled lightly and shook his hand as a formality.
A few seconds later, Edwin handed the trophy to him and retreated a few steps back. That way, Xu Feng could take the time to make his winning speech.
Xu Feng held the trophy and leaned close to the microphone.
“Evening, people. I’m Xu Feng, but most probably recognize me as Cool Wind from the Divine World.” He introduced himself and stared at the camera.
It was about time to show his face to the public and shine! He was done hiding!
“On behalf of the actors, producer, director, and all those who work on the short drama, I shall receive it with pride. At the same time, I’m here to announce that Vanguard Entertainment Group is officially recruiting actors and players who are interested in acting to join. I promise you will get lots of good footage, especially in the Divine World!”
THUD!
Silence!
The atmosphere was completely silent because of Xu Feng’s sudden self-advertisement.
Nearly everyone in the crowd was stupefied and startled by Xu Feng’s bold behavior.
Who in their right mind would self-promote themselves or their company during a winning speech?
Shouldn’t you just say thank you to those you’re grateful for and that you will continue to improve your craft or something alike?
Follow the damn rules!!!
While the majority was stunned, only Carmen clapped her hands openly and cheered loudly for Xu Feng.
“WOOOO! That’s the spirit of the Vanguard Guild!” She stood up and did a few poses.
Her poses and actions were quickly captured on camera.
‘Fucking hell… these two are really beyond shameless.’ Kara hurriedly used her hand to cover her face to avoid being involved with them. Unfortunately, it was already too late.
Clips of her being at the same table with two outrageous people were being spread like wildfire.
Even the host, Edwin, couldn’t help but twitch his face uncontrollably.
‘Brother, are you trying to kill my career?!!’ Edwin cried inwardly. There were rules that specifically prohibited such self-promotion. Of course, it was unspoken, but anyone with a clear mindset should know that such action was beyond inappropriate.
Not to mention, the punishment wouldn’t be directed at the actors themselves, but at the host for failing to prevent the situation.
As if knowing Edwin was going to get an earful, Xu Feng smiled kindly at him.
He patted his shoulder. “Good luck, brother. If anything, just say it’s Edgar’s fault for letting me win.”
“Hah…” Edwin forced a bittersweet smile.
What kind of helpful advice was that?
Blame it on Edgar Sandoval??!
The young heir of Razor Technology?
He might as well die faster if he really dared to shift the blame to Edgar.
While Edwin lamented his fate, Xu Feng remained aloof as he returned to his table in victory form.
“You really know how to cause a scene.” Kara quickly commented once he sat down. “Did you know that you might be penalized or even barred from receiving any nomination for some years?”
“Who cares about these award ceremonies anyway?” Before Xu Feng could reply, Carmen took the lead and scoffed.
“An award ceremony that could be manipulated at any time by the higher-ups didn’t deserve any respect. Feng’s goal is just to use this chance to advertise the Vanguard Guild anyway.”
“Is your boyfriend a mute?” Kara clicked her tongue.
“Not a mute.” Carmen shook her head and clarified. “I’m just afraid that if his venomous mouth opens, you might vomit blood.”
Xu Feng wanted to interrupt at that moment, but Carmen’s single glare immediately made him retract the thought.
After all, it was indeed true that he would say something that might irritate Kara.
Regulation and procedure were something he never followed.
Following those would only hinder his goal and upcoming plans.
Sometime later, Carmen stood up and held Xu Feng.
“Where are you going?” Kara raised an eyebrow.
“To escape through the back door. Otherwise, you really want to see my boyfriend get beaten to death?”
Kara wanted to say it was too late anyway, but didn’t get the chance when Carmen effectively dragged him away.
“What a silly niece I have…’ Kara smiled bitterly, retrieved her phone, and sent a simple text. Xu Feng had offended Edgar already, so it wasn’t hard to think the latter would scheme something.
Despite knowing a fight was about to happen, she was actually eager to see Xu Feng’s fighting skills. Based on her investigation report, it was said that Xu Feng managed to repel a group of Energy Fighters before.
And those Energy Fighters levels weren’t weak either.
“Don’t blame this auntie, niece. If the man you choose isn’t strong enough to protect you, then he doesn’t have the right to stay with you.” Kara muttered.
She wasn’t the type to care about family status, but she was definitely concerned for Carmen’s safety. So, without confirming the man she chose was capable enough, she could only be a cruel aunt and separate them for their safety in advance.
Underground level…
Shortly after escaping through the back door and arriving at the underground level to avoid the reporters, Carmen finally heaved a sigh of relief.
“Phew, good thing I studied the layout earlier.” She smiled cheekily.
However, when she heard no response from Xu Feng, she became confused.
“Feng?”
“Shh,” Xu Feng placed a finger on her mouth and signaled her to be silent.
“We’ve got company.” He murmured, his eyes shifting to a far end corner.
