Capítulo 1318: Film Festival Part 11

Being addressed as a honey trap from Xu Feng was actually an honor.

An insidious and cunning person like Xu Feng being fearful of her was considered a praise and a bragging achievement.

“Well, then, aren’t you a bee who has been trapped by me?” Carmen leaned closer to him and smiled.

“Yes, the honey is very sweet.” Xu Feng nodded and picked up some veggies to feed her. Since the camera was focused on them, the best way was to entice public anger.

Receiving hate was also a form of publicity.

After all, no publicity meant you didn’t even deserve to be chosen as a target to be criticized.

However, Xu Feng’s true motive was to test the awarding judges’ limit.

He wanted to see if they dared not give his Vanguard Entertainment Group a single award.

Mainstream drama was definitely out of touch, but the short drama category was different.

Xu Feng didn’t care for the Best New Actor category whatsoever. What he cared about was the best short drama of the year.

The publication of his short drama was precisely aligned with the awarding category, so the judges couldn’t use the reason for late submission as an excuse to revoke their qualification.

Most people only focused on the drama’s popularity and how fierce the viewership contention was. But the truth was that behind the scenes, to get nominated and awarded was even more fierce.

“You’re gaining hatred,” Carmen smirked and enjoyed the veggie in delight.

“Hatred?” Xu Feng shook his head. “I’m gaining infamy.”

“You sound proud of it.”

“Why wouldn’t I?”

As the two continued to flirt around in the public view, Kara rolled her eyes.

She glanced at the plate of dishes and decided to eat some as well.

After all, the food’s aroma was quite fragrant. Moreover, she was indeed getting bored with the host’s usual scripts.

Sometime later, the host, Edwin, noticed the atmosphere wasn’t right.

‘What’s going on?’ Edwin wondered. He resumed his speech while glancing around. Soon, he discovered that most of the attention span was directed at Xu Feng’s table.

‘That table…isn’t that the newcomer short drama actor?’

However, when he noticed the table was the only one with a ton of food, he started to understand why.

Upon realizing that the guests were probably starving by now, Edwin decided to cut things short and began announcing the awards category. Everything was a procedure, starting with an honorable awarding to veterans.

Needless to say, these types of awards were more of a consolation prize for their years of effort in the entertainment industry, yet they barely get any recognition. In a sense, it was sort of a disrespectful trophy that they only got the award because of their old age.

“I’ve never even heard of these people before, but they actually filmed that many?” Carmen was surprised by the milestone of the winners in this category.

“You never heard of them because they were always minor roles.” Xu Feng explained. Although he said minor roles, it was more appropriate to say these people were extras.

Carmen nodded her head. She was about to say something until clips of these actors’ work were shown on the screen.

Her eyes soon narrowed when she noticed these people got the acting chop.

“How come they can’t get bigger roles with this kind of acting skill?” She frowned and wondered if the casting directors were blind fools.

Toward this question, Xu Feng stayed silent.

The truth was very harsh and brutal.

Without background or a chance to shine, they were destined to be buried by those with influence or who knew how to curry favor.

‘I would have been a qualified receiver for this award…’ Xu Feng thought to himself. Had he not reincarnated, then based on the past timeline trajectory, he was going to be buried.

An hour later…

“Finally, we will have our awards for the short drama section,” Edwin announced excitedly. “As you know, in recent years, the popularity and revenue from short dramas have been on the rise. It’s no longer inferior to the mainstream drama.”

“Feng, are you striving for the best new actor?” Carmen excitedly turned to Xu Feng and asked. “I’ve checked the record, and you have the most popularity and votes.”

“You checked the record?” Dumbfounded, Xu Feng looked at her in surprise. To be able to check the internal record, one needed sufficient influence and power.

“Ah, Auntie Kara checked it on my behalf.” She hurriedly pointed at Kara, who was busy eating some green beans.

“Aunt Kara did?”

Kara nearly choked on the green beans when she was put on the spot by Carmen.

“Am I your disposal pawn or what?’ She cried inwardly. Being forced to watch their nauseous display of affection was tilting enough. But now she was also being used as a shield to cover up Carmen’s true identity.

Just how could she have such a miserable life?

“Mhmm, I went and checked.” Kara took the blame and explained that it would have been a real embarrassment to attend without bringing home a single award.

Having said that, Kara gazed at Xu Feng with a solemn expression. “I don’t know what you did, Feng. But you should be careful from now on. You might have bagged an award at home, but you also offended someone.”

Xu Feng nodded with a nonchalant expression. He knew that threatening Edgar would result in a fierce retaliation later on.

But so what?

As soon as the Divine World’s second major update was completed, it was hard to say who would be suffering.

“Rest assured, Feng.” Carmen understood their conversation and held Xu Feng’s hand. “Once we’re back to the Divine World, I will sabotage them.”

“That won’t be necessary.” Xu Feng pinched her nose gently and smiled.

“Once we return to the Divine World… things are no longer the same.” He continued, giving off a mysterious vibe. ‘Teleportation would become a luxury once we get roped in with the war. Mounts are the new era.”
