Chapter 480: [Dystopian Elven War] [56] [Lost]
[The kingdom of Azrael.]
[Akasha’s Habitant.]
“Wait, is it actually true?”
Heather asked, her voice filled with awe as she looked at the black haired girl.
The girl nodded her head with a bright smile.
“Of course, it is.” She flipped her hair. “That boy is head over heels for me.”
“What is his name again?” Heather asked, leaning closer.
“Aimar, I think.” Elise replied with a smile. “He also has a twin.”
Heather nodded her head, her cat like eyes burning with curiosity.
Her head tilted to look back as a girl walked just behind them. “What happened to you?”
Zenith looked up and smiled. “Nothing much.” She said. “…I was just wondering about something.”
Heather didn’t ask much as she sighed and looked back at Elise.
“I am happy for you.” She mumbled. “I wish Elijah was like that….more honest and loving.”
“He is a mama’s boy.” Elise said with a chuckle. “You can’t expect too much from him.”
Heather let out a sigh as she looked back at the school.
The students were walking out of the place as they talked with themselves.
Despite her trying to find him, she couldn’t spot the boy.
“Oh, my mom’s here.” Zenith said, as a car parked close by. “I will be going.”
But before walking off she turned to look at Elise.
The girl blinked. “What?”
Zenith smiled. “You shouldn’t lie.”
She left them alone as she walked away.
—
‘I hope she takes my advice.’
Zenith thought as she walked towards the white car parked close by.
‘I am pretty sure, she is just trying to win over Aimar.’
A smile bloomed on her face as she remembered Elise….from her own World.
It’s been more than six months since Zenith came to this world.
She was confused and scared about what happened to her.
But….
As days passed she changed and began to adjust to the new world.
Zenith opened the door of the car as she entered inside.
“Hello sweety.” A bright voice greeted her. “How was your day?”
The woman had short black hair with some pink undertone.
Her smile remained as radiant as Zenith remembered.
“It was great!” Zenith replied to Yennefer. “I had so much fun.”
The only reason Zenith could adapt to this new World was because of her.
Yennefer reached over and brushed a few strands of Zenith’s hair back, her touch gentle.
“That’s good to hear,” she said warmly. “You look brighter today.”
Zenith leaned into the seat, hugging her bag to her chest. “Thank you.”
Yennefer chuckled, starting the car. “Mm. Tell me everything when we reach home.”
Zenith nodded, but her mind replayed the last time she saw her mother in her own World.
Her eyes dimmed down a little but she quickly shook her head.
‘Let’s not think about that.’
She thought to herself.
‘This is my new world…I also have my mother here.’
Zenith was more than happy with her new life.
Yennefer was a well known fashion designer known to everyone.
‘…She is my mother.’
Zenith repeated staring outside the window.
‘I will live happily in this world.’
…. Zenith was happy in the bubble she has created around herself.
‘Hm?’
She blinked as she caught someone walking down the street.
‘Himmel…’
—
[Himmel’s POV.]
“Urgh.”
I stretched my body as it ached from all the running today.
Despite playing like this for almost two weeks, my body still felt the same tiredness.
‘…I still have to meet with Christina in an hour.’
I let out a sigh as I remembered my plans for the evening.
Senara was out of town with her family for a while.
Christina, the opportunist she is, had booked all my time that I spent with Senara.
‘Urgh, it will be hard dealing with Senara when she comes back.’
I bet Inna would have made an inappropriate comment if she was here right now.
‘….’
My steps slowed down as I looked down.
I wonder how Inna is doing.
….She should be worried about me, wondering where I have gone.
It would be funny, if she actually cried for me.
‘….’
I wish to see her again.
But I still don’t want to go back to that stupid world.
I have everything in this world and I don’t want to lose it.
I made a decision and I am going to stick with it.
I pulled out my phone, checking the time.
Christina would no doubt scold me if I was late.
It wasn’t long before I reached my home.
I clicked open the door as I walked in. “I am home.”
“Azariah?”
A voice called out making me freeze in my steps.
I began to walk forward until I reached the living room.
“Hello, child.”
A woman with long blonde hair sat on a chair, smiling brightly.
The same eyes I had seen a thousand times before…yet they still made my skin crawl.
“Nerissa?” I whispered softly.
Her smile immediately died down.
“Rude!” She said with a pout. “You don’t call your aunt with her name.”
“Auntie Nerissa,” I muttered reluctantly. “What are you doing here?”
Her pout immediately flipped into a sly grin.
“That’s more like it.” She leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs with a lazy elegance. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it, Azariah?”
I shut the door behind me. “Where is mother?”
“She has some work to do.” Nerissa replied. “So she asked me to look after you.”
“You don’t have to.” I mumbled taking off my coat. “I have a….date.”
Her interest spiked in an instant, as she leaned in.
“And who might she be?” She asked, rubbing her chin. “Is she the girl who has been following you since childhood.”
“….Yes.”
I said walking towards my room.
“I made something for you.” Nerissa said. “Eat it.”
“No thanks.” I replied, shaking my head. “And don’t you have children to take care of in your home?”
Nerissa’s eyes narrowed, “what the hell are you talking about?”
I blinked, confusion clouding my mind. “Isn’t Nymeria your daughter?”
“Who is she now?” She scoffed. “Are you playing a prank with me?”
I drew in a deep breath as I asked. “Do you know Ragnar?”
She shook her head. “No.” She replied. “Who might that be?”
I opened my mouth then closed it.
Wait, did she not get married in this world or what?
I slowly walked towards her until I was standing right in front of her.
I looked into her eyes. “…Are you perhaps a virgin?”
—
[An hour later]
The Sun was about to set as I stood at the meeting spot.
It was a park with greenery all around the place.
I kept on staring at my phone as I scrolled.
After a while, I shut it close as I let out a sigh.
‘…There are none.’
In this world, there is not a single person that is like an enemy to me.
Except Esmeray, there is not a single person that poses a threat to me in my world.
This world… it really was perfect.
And yet, that perfection felt heavy.
I slipped my phone back into my pocket, crossing my arms as I leaned against the railing near the fountain.
Couples strolled past, hand in hand.
“Azariah.”
Her voice broke through my thoughts.
I turned my head and saw Christina walking toward me, dressed elegantly as always, her heels clicking against the path.
She carried herself like she owned the entire park.
“You’re late,” I muttered.
“Yeah, there was….is that a slap mark?”
Christina asked stepping closer to check my cheek.
I quickly tried to shrug it off. “It’s nothing.”
But she didn’t let go, her voice turned cold. “Who did it?”
“…. Mother.” I muttered, grabbing her hand. “I just asked something that I shouldn’t have.”
I don’t think she would let go if someone other than my own mother hit me.
She looked at me for a while before she let out a sigh. “Be more careful.”
Reaching me, Christina slipped her arm into mine without asking.
“Let’s go,” she said, her voice softer now but laced with something possessive.
I nodded, letting her lead me through the park.
The sound of the fountain faded behind us as we walked side by side.
For a moment, I almost forgot the sting still burning faintly on my cheek.
Christina glanced at me, her lips curving into a small smile.
“You know, Azariah, you should really stop letting people push you around. Even your mother.”
I raised a brow. “You’d pick a fight with my mother?”
She smirked. “I’d win.”
I highly doubt that but I would keep that to myself.
“Do you remember what you did the last time we came here?” Christina asked, looking at me.
“Uh, I don’t.” I mumbled, rubbing my temples. “What did I do?”
Christina didn’t reply as her grip on my hand loosened.
“Do you remember what we did last month?” She asked once again. “In my room.”
I looked at her as I felt something wrong.
Her gaze met mine as her smile was slowly fading away.
I shifted uncomfortably. “Christina… what are you trying to say?”
She stopped walking, heels clicking against the stone path as she faced me fully.
The playful confidence she always carried was gone, replaced by something sharper.
“You don’t remember,” she said flatly.
“Remember what?” I asked, my voice lower than I intended.
Her lips pressed into a thin line.
For a moment, I thought she’d lash out like she usually did, but instead, she just shook her head. “You must remember the last gift you gave me.”
“I do—.”
“What was it?” She asked, slowly backing off.
“…”
I had nothing to say, because I have no memory prior to taking over this body.
Christina slowly looked into my eyes.
“….Are you really Azariah?”
I opened my mouth to reply but before I could say anything…..
….The world stopped in an instant.
The Sun that was setting moved back to the top of my head.
In the sudden afternoon, a voice echoed. “You were caught.”
I slowly looked up at the sun as I felt something abnormal about it.
“Would you like to fix it?”
