Chapter 1096: The Olympics (6)

Several days before the Olympics ceremony,

Vijay, escorted by his royal guards and a brigade of the Bharatiya Army stationed in UGSR, was still on his way from the ruins of Olympia in the Peloponnese Peninsula to Athens.

The journey from Olympia to Athens took a whole day, so Vijay settled in a town for a night.

After making sure that Kavya was asleep, Vijay silently got up from his bed and went into a room at the edge of the corridor. Katappa, as if he already knew that the emperor was coming, respectfully stood to the side, while at the edge of the table within the room, a middle-aged European man stood in place with a respectful attitude.

Looking at the European, Vijay did not feel surprised. Although he had never seen this person, he knew a lot about him, for example, things like he was one of the survivors of the Battle of Transylvania along with his sister, one of the earlier members to join the Bharatiya external pragya during the recruitment right after the war, and he also knew that he was a prodigy under Roshan and had accomplished countless tasks for the empire.

After Vijay sat down, he motioned, “Sit down, Dorian.”

Dorian Radu was a little nervous because although he had taken direct orders from the emperor before, he had not met him personally. Sitting in front of his majesty, the pressure he felt was immeasurable; it was even stronger than when he met his highness, Prince Agni, during the Suez Canal negotiations.

Vijay looked at Dorian intently, “So, is there any movement?” he asked, his expression showing interest.

Dorian recollected his thoughts and nodded intently with a sombre look on his face, “It is as we suspected, your majesty, the snakes, rats, and pests within the Greek republics have all shown signs of restlessness. From the agents we have deployed and from the assets they control, we were able to ascertain that these extremists will try to assassinate you during or after the Olympic Games.”

Vijay was expressionless. Even after the Mughal Empire collapsed and he ran several slaughter operations throughout the empire to weed out the extremists and the hardliners, there were still some rats that slipped through the net that had to be dealt with for ten whole years. So he did not think even for a moment that all the extremists from the Ottoman Empire had been erased. He knew they were only hiding in plain sight and would show up when the chance to retaliate arose, so he was not surprised to hear the words of Dorian. “Do we not know the exact time they would strike?”

Dorian shook his head. “Unfortunately not, Your Majesty. It seems the fall of the Ottoman Empire has given them a long memory. Like the Europeans, they’ve kept their discussions confined to a core group, with no information leaking out. From what I can gather from their orders to subordinates, the attack could happen anytime. The trigger appears to be situational, whenever you show weakness or vulnerability, they’re likely to strike. Since they’ll operate in a decentralized manner, each assassin will have a separate task, unaware of the others. Even if we stop one or two, the rest will keep coming like waves.”

“Hmm, in that case,” Vijay came up with a plan and looked towards Kattappa, “wait for the opportunity and show a few flaws in the defence for the enemy to take advantage of, but make sure that it is not too obvious; they should not be able to tell that they are falling into a trap.”

“Once they act, immediately take action and finish them off.”

Kattappa resolutely patted his chest with a salute, “Leave it to me, your majesty.”

Hearing the plan, Dorian frowned. “Your Majesty, the people who’ll act are mostly subordinates. The big players are unlikely to move. If they realise what we’re doing, they might scrap the entire plan and restart it somewere else.”

“True,” Vijay agreed, though he didn’t seem concerned. “You don’t have to worry about them. Ever since the Ottoman Empire collapsed, Roshan has been in charge of gathering intelligence on all the problematic individuals in the country. He’s identified over 325 names, all of whom have been quietly handed over to Georgios over the past few years. He’ll take care of it.”

These words caught Dorian by surprise; he hadn’t known this. He had only become the deputy director of the Bharatiya External Pragya’s European branch a year ago and had never come into contact with SS or higher-level information from the director. His surprise soon turned into understanding. “So you’re going to have the Greeks deal with these people themselves, your majesty?”

His eyes shone with admiration as he spoke sincerely, “It’s a wonderful plan, sire.” He had read about the emperor ever since being rescued at the age of fifteen, but this was the first time he was witnessing firsthand how the game of kingship was truly played.

Hearing the compliment, Vijay simply shook his head. However, in this situation Kattappa suddenly asked a question, “Your majesty, since the Secretary General of Greece already had the names of the extremists, why did he not act beforehand?”

Duran suddenly realised the oddity as well. He was left in thought, but Vijay was not stumped, “Probably because some of these people are high profile individuals, with some even getting into politics. I guess he does not want to startle anyone and lead to a big mess.”

Kattappa nodded in understanding, but he added, “However, your majesty, in that case we have to force his hand to act, should we not?”

“Hmm, you are right,” Vijay had not considered this question. “We do need something that will force his hand.” He fell into thinking, but it was not for long as he got an idea, ” Seeing the right opportunity, allow one or two assassins to come near me, and preferably this should happen when there is an audience. An attempt on my life should be enough to push the hand of Georgios Paleologos.”

Dorian’s eyes widened, and Kattappa was no different. The emperor himself acting as a bait, how can that be? But before they could interject and refuse the risky idea, Vijay cut them off both, “Just do as I said.” His eyes became stern and sharp, radiating a chilling light, “You don’t think my sword has dulled, do you?”

‘Gulp!’

In the end, Kattappa had no other choice and was forced to agree.

Thinking about something, Vijay directed his attention towards Dorian, “What about the Europeans?”

Dorian regained his composure and nodded, his brows furrowed. “The Europeans are behaving oddly as well, your majesty. Reports from England, France, and the Netherlands suggest they’re planning something big, though I haven’t been able to determine their exact objective. An interesting development, however, is that they seem likely to fund the assassination attempts against you through the Islamists.”

“Oh.” His eyebrows raised as he did not expect this, “Can the connexion be traced back using the movement of finances?”

“We are trying, your majesty, but so far the contact between the two parties only happened a single time, and even then it was only between Muhammad Rahas, one of the big names who wants to assassinate you, and an unidentified Englishman. He might have been in disguise, as looking at the records, this person appeared out of nowhere.”

“My guess is the Europeans do not want a full-scale war. They will avoid using their own army, they might even avoid using the well-known militia organisations. If I am correct, they will most likely try to ambush you during the journey, maybe using their own personally trained elite soldiers dressed up as bandits.”

Vijay nodded, it was not out of his expectations. The style of Europeans is usually to use group and brute force tactics, compared with Islamists who use terrorism as a tactic.

Well, he was not too worried about the former, since he had not equipped the Royal Guards with the best weaponry for nothing, and even if, worst comes to worst, the Europeans also resort to dirty tactics like the Islamists, Vijay could just flip the table and bring the hidden fights to the front.

“Alright, dismissed.”

Vijay still wanted to get some rest.

The day of the Olympic ceremony, Athens, Airavatha Stadium.

As if nothing happened, Vijay entered the Olympic ceremony and saw through it with satisfaction.

However, under the eyes of everyone within the audience, some people had shocked expressions on their faces as they looked at the sand within their bags. Instead of explosives, the next moment before they could even have a chance to react, they felt a prickling sensation in their neck, and the next thing they knew, drowsiness, they fell asleep onto the shoulder of the men or women next to them.

For the audience in the crowd, none of this was known; they were still celebrating the arrival of the teams from their country or the country they supported.

One advantage the Bharatiya Empire had against the decentralised attacks was the lack of communication once the operation began. So, even though the plan had clearly failed, the Airavata Stadium stood untouched, the brainwashed zombies, driven only by their mission to kill the Shaitan, the sinner, still went ahead with their attempts. Unfortunately for them, just before they could act after the opening ceremony, they were intercepted by men in black coats and vanished without a trace.

Attempts were even made on Kavya, while she was greeting the girl from the Chenla Kingdom who had won the 1500-metre freestyle, and on Vedant and Tanvika as they congratulated winners from other divisions. But before the assassins could get close, their lives ended abruptly, right inside the stadium washrooms. Their bodies were quietly disposed of in the nearby river along with the rest of the tournament’s waste.

The time came for the banquet. Kattappa kept an eye on his majesty as he entered into the banquet hall and then at the surroundings. He was accompanied by several other royal guards at the back, similarly looking around vigilantly. For normal people, they had not done anything, but they knew how many lives they had taken with their own hands In the last 24 hours.

Suddenly, a suspicious person entered the compound after showing a certificate to the guard. Kattappa frowned because the face of the person was very similar to the one in the description, but remembering his majesty’s words, he stopped his subordinate from going forward and watched the man get into the banquet hall.

“General!” his subordinates called out with worry, but Kattappa did not speak. He was sweating, but he still took out the Shikari long range rifle, positioned it between the door frame, and placed his aim directly on the assassin. It was a very dangerous moment, and his fingers were shaking.

He cursed in his heart, why did both the father and son want to be the bait so eagerly, and that too, why did they have to take a risk right when he was present? The current situation reminded him of the time when his highness Agni acted as the bait himself in the Middle East. Looking at the target, he decided, as soon as he even saw the sign of a gun or some sort of a trigger, he would blast the bastards head into pieces.

The next moment, to his relief and in the eyes of admiration, he saw his majesty taking action and swiftly ending the life of the perpetrator.

Remembering his duty, he cried out, “Protect his majesty, the emperor!” and ran forward.

Fucking hell, imagine if the ricin was really mixed into temple food. It is odourless and practically undetectable, and even its effects, I heard, only take effect after a day or so. So if the terrorists were successful in mixing the poison into temple prasad, then hundreds of thousands would die, temples would be questioned, everyone would start blaming the Hindus, especially the Brahmans. Political Hinduism that is recently rising would take a big hit, and a lot of horrible things would happen. Thankfully, the worst has been averted

— (Referring to: the foiled November 2025 ricin terror plot in Gujarat, India, where suspects linked to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) — including Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, Azad Suleman Sheikh, and Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Saleem Khan — were arrested for allegedly planning to poison temple prasad.)
