Capítulo 926: Miser

The price may seem atrocious, but it was actually already at a discounted price. The armor set consisted of about twenty to thirty pieces of individual armor, which when combined would cost around 20% more than the actual price of the set itself.

The cheapest among them, and the one still fitting in his budget, were one part of a Vambrace or a shoulder guard. Part, not pair. He’d have to choose whether he protected his left side or his right side.

Do I really have no choice, he pondered.

According to the description of the armor, wearing it would be enough to completely stop any attacks from Nascent Spirit cultivators in the 1st stage, partially defend from 2nd stage Maugnetics, and marginally resist attacks from the 3rd stage.

It looked like a sound investment.

Should I just save up on Mini Drones for this armor? Should I not even buy the gun anymore?

[Are you kidding me? This armor is a piece of shit.]

Harbinger’s condescending voice echoed through his head like a judgemental devil.

[Trust me, Michael. Don’t buy any of these armors. No self-respecting Nascent Spirit cultivator would ever wear something like this. It’s the equivalent of training wheels. It’s only meant for babies and weaklings.]

Michael was a little bit shocked. Really? Then what type of armor do they wear?

[Their own! Did you completely forget about Divas?]

After completing the Body Formation realm, Divas were able to manifest in the real world, becoming a Maugnetic’s armor.

The image of Katarina’s dazzling diamond armor flashed through his mind. That was simultaneously her Diva and her armor.

Then what are these armors for?

[They just make these items for babies, like I told you. Some Nascent Spirit cultivators are way too overprotective of their children or their proteges that they make them wear this armor while they’re in the Body Formation realm.]

Now it made sense why Harbinger was so vehemently rejecting his idea of saving up to buy these armors.

After all, he was already in the 7th stage of the Body Formation realm. He just needed a few more kilograms of GodForge pieces before he could transcend over to the next realm. And once he formed a Nascent Spirit, these armors would prove completely obsolete.

Still… There are some merits in buying armor. I need something to protect me.

He could still give this armor to someone else after he became a Nascent Spirit cultivator. In the meantime, he’d be able to face the Emerald leaders of Ersatz without worrying about getting killed in one shot.

Is there really nothing else besides these armors?

Michael began to filter through the products, finding endless armor sets and different variations and themes. He’d seen so many of them that they were starting to turn banal in his eyes.

After almost thirty minutes of mindlessly searching through the sundry armor sets, he wanted to give up.

Nothing fit his needs! He needed something that was cheap, but could protect him against Nascent Spirit attacks. It’s not that complicated!

He wanted to complain to ChatJK5 that the Emporium wasn’t as expansive as she bragged, but then he remembered.

Wait… it’s not that the Emporium doesn’t have what I need. It’s that I’m not searching for it in the right place!

He remembered that the limits of this Emporium were only based on his imagination. If he could think of it, then it was probably available to buy. The fact that he couldn’t find any item he liked was because he didn’t give it a specific enough of a criteria!

[Search: Defensive Talisman, Uncommon]

Finally, the window refreshed and showed him a new set of products that looked extremely similar to the magical talismans that he saw back in the fantasy books in his previous life.

[The Recalcitrant Jade Sword] took his mind back to when he was consuming cultivation novels at a commensurate rate. The main characters of those stories always had a defensive talisman that allowed them to absorb damage that would otherwise be fatal to them!

He always thought it was a little bit of a ‘deus ex machina’ but now, he was appreciating them as something extremely necessary for every cultivator.

[Unc — Thousand Cosmic Turtle Talisman]

[Unc — Branch of Ygdrassil Talisman]

[Unc — Crystal Water Talisman]

…

Thousands of talismans appeared in his vision. Some of them were metal jewelry meant to be worn as a necklace, while some of them were just simple pieces of rectangular pieces of paper with unrecognizable letters written inside.

He began to click through the different products, comparing the differences between each one.

And from what he could see, they weren’t that disparate from each other.

They all gave him a basic form of protection: defending him from a fatal attack coming from a Nascent Spirit Cultivator.

The only thing that they differed in was the extent. For example, the [Thousand Cosmic Turtle Talisman] allowed him to perfectly defend against three attacks from a 1st stage Nascent Spirit. If a 2nd stage cultivator attacked him, the Talisman wouldn’t be able to protect him fully; he’d incur a few injuries. But if a 3rd stage attacked him, he’d survive, but left with almost fatal injuries.

Meanwhile, the [Branch of Ygdrassil Talisman] allowed him to perfectly absorb the attack of a 3rd stage Nascent Spirit cultivator. However, like all talismans, it was a one-use item. So if a 1st stage cultivator attacked him, the talisman would get used up regardless if it was a weaker attack.

Hmm… this is hard. The first talisman would allow me to absorb three attacks, which is good. But that’s only if I’m only facing a 1st stage Nascent Spirit…

Both options were good for specific conditions. The [Turtle] for longevity in a fight, while the [Branch] for an escape route.

But the problem was that he could never anticipate what kind of opponent he’d face.

Whatever… How much are these anyway?

[Price: 100 Mini Drones]

[Delivery Time: 24 hours]

DAMN! A hundred Mini Drones for a single use item?!
