Capítulo 1017: Taunt, Catch, Electrocute ( 1017 )
Hesbeirn arrived at the clearing’s edge. “You all wait here.” He glanced at the Pekko. “And you. Make sure our guest doesn’t get any ideas.”
“Cuquawked~!” The Pekko smirked from its beak, eyes glowing as it stared at the vampire.
“Hah! This overgrown bird is nothing once my hands are free. I’ll kill it right here, along with all of you,” the vampire chuckled darkly.
The Armand Elite Knights looked at each other, then burst into loud, genuine laughter.
“This weirdo thinks Pekko are easy to kill.”
“Clearly he’s dumb~”
“Yeah, totally agree. Where’d he get that idea?”
One of the knights leaned in close, meeting the vampire’s furious gaze. “Let me tell you something interesting about this ‘overgrown bird.'”
Another joined in, his tone light but deadly serious. “We’re Armand Elite Knights. And I doubt any of us could take down a Pekko this size without losing a man or two… if we’re lucky. Maybe getting wiped out entirely. And this isn’t even General Hesbeirn’s personal mount. If it was? I doubt any of us would walk away.”
“Yeah. These birds can use magic. Some legends say a fully grown one, like Sir Alf’s or the General’s, rivals a dragon in raw power.”
“Do some research next time, blood-man~”
“Blood!?”
“Yeah. Vampires drink blood and hate garlic, right?”
Hesbeirn shook his head, watching the armored knight trade blows with the hydra’s snapping heads and deflect water-bomb spells with shimmering barriers.
He rubbed his chin. Hmm… looks like the brat’s invention is holding its own. Or maybe he’s just enjoying himself, testing its limits again.
“Oi, brat. You good?”
“Hmm?” The armored knight turned after punching one of the heads and repelling a water bomb with a shield of magic. “Yeah, sort of… you taking over now?”
Hesbeirn crossed his arms and rubbed his chin. “Hmm… if you want to take time to ana… what is it again?”
“Analyze, Uncle. It’s analyze.” Javier sighed while punching and kicking another hydra head that lunged in.
“Lize or whatever.” Hesbeirn chuckled and stepped forward. “Let me show you how it’s done, boy.”
“Wooo~ scary drunk uncle has arrived. Everyone clap.” The armored knight started clapping.
Hesbeirn stepped forward and stomped one heavy boot into the earth, a low smirk on his face.
“This is how it’s done.”
He thumped a fist against his own chest plate.
“First, use skill: Taunt!”
“Roar!!!” A shockwave erupted from Hesbeirn as his body flared with a visible aura.
The hydra’s main head snapped toward him and lunged forward, the other heads following in a furious rush.
“Second step: catch its main head.” Hesbeirn said casually, raising his palm and catching the hydra’s primary head mid-lunge, holding it there as if it weighed nothing.
“Third… before the other heads try to bite or swallow you, activate a lightning skill.”
Hesbeirn smirked. A crackling web of lightning erupted from his body, engulfing every head and coiling around the hydra’s massive form. The electricity surged through the water barrier, conducting violently across its scales, locking its muscles in spasms. The hydra thrashed, heads twitching uncontrollably as the lightning coursed through its nervous system, paralyzing it in place.
“While you keep it electrocuted, launch a binding-web skill over its whole body!” Hesbeirn shouted, his laugh edging into manic glee.
“Oi, boy! You better have that fire ready!”
“Hah!? Of course it’s ready. Look over there. One snap and it ignites.”
“Fourth! After the web fully binds its body, activate another lightning to keep this bastard cooking!”
Hesbeirn jumped into the air while gripping the thick main rope of the binding web.
“And sixth!? Pull it out of the water! Bwahahahaha!” Hesbeirn laughed, hauling the web from the air and swinging the entire hydra out of the lake, slamming it onto the ground while the lightning continued to crackle across its paralyzed form.
The vampire’s eyes widened, jaw dropping as he watched the massive hydra twitching helplessly on the ground nearby.
How… how does Armand have so many monsters?!
How can a mere human alone… defeat a hydra like it’s nothing?
I’m done… I should have listened to the others about not coming to Armand for this kill mission.
I thought humans were weaker than us demon-kin. Especially my vampire clan.
And now…
Once the huge hydra lay twitching on the ground, still crackling with Hesbeirn’s lightning skill, Hesbeirn smirked.
“Oi, Uncle… you just skipped the fifth lesson?” The armored knight turned to face him, arms crossed.
“Ah… sorry, boy. I just got excited. It’s been so long since I hunted a hydra. I remember back when I hunted one with your father, my brother-in-law Alf, and my sister Erinnette when we were teens. Your father was the one who showed me how it’s done. Alf was the one who sliced it properly, and Erinnette cooked it. And when I tasted it… yummy yum yum~”
Javier just sighed, watching Hesbeirn drool while keeping the hydra electrocuted through the binding web.
“Alright, boy! Real sixth lesson! After it’s nice and tenderized… like this!” Hesbeirn smirked and raised his free hand, mana gathering in a pale, chilling glow. “We encase the whole thing in a deep-freeze. Lock it in the ice~”
The massive hydra was now frozen solid in a block of ice.
Hesbeirn smirked, wiping his hands together.
“Fire up the wood, brat!”
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever.” Javier smirked back. The armor knight snapped its fingers, and the huge, prepared pile of timber a safe distance away roared to life with intense, controlled flames.
“Now, for the cooking lesson. How to make sure the poison burns clean.” Hesbeirn unsheathed his huge greatsword from his back and leaped onto the frozen hydra.
“First, cut the main head here!” He swung the blade in a clean, powerful arc, severing the largest head from the main body. He hurled the frozen chunk straight into the heart of the fire.
A thick, dark, almost living streams of toxic blood began to weep from the meat, sizzling and burning away the moment they touched the flames.
“Boy! Use your toy to turn the head around so the other side doesn’t burn. We don’t need to cook it here.”
“Alright, alright! You better leave me at least… one head. No, three. I’ve got my buddy here who needs meat.”
From the other side of the mana talkie, a sudden shout echoed. “Oi, Buddy! Your drool! When did you get here!?”
