Capítulo 369: Trouble

The awkwardness had chased Cero out of the room.

“Ugh…” He sighed, standing with his back against a wall just beyond the room’s door.

It was rather difficult to pinpoint the cause of the awkwardness on both Cero and Roka’s side, because there were so many.

Cero shook his head, chasing away the image of Rekka that had appeared in his mind, chuckling at his awkwardness and at her daughter’s dismay.

He knew, even before stepping on this spaceship, that he would, sooner or later, have to get over this awkwardness. Still, suddenly and instantly being made to share a room with Roka was a bit much.

Thankfully, Cero had managed to leave the room naturally, perfectly hiding his awkwardness, leading to Roka thinking that it was all in her head, that she was the only one feeling awkward and strange.

After all, she had jumped him while he had been asleep, pulled down his pants, and…

“Hm…?”

While Roka continually threw gentle slaps at her face to quiet and calm her mind, Cero found himself following a discussion that was taking place in a room different than their own.

The spaceship they currently occupied, the Xerox 77, was much, much smaller than the one Cero had grown so used to and fond of.

There were four rooms, a hallway connecting them to the flight deck, and one bathroom, much, much smaller than the one Cero had entered so many months ago already to peek at Rea, Liz, and Raya’s naked bodies, still in his initial Paru form.

Gina and Tina had claimed a room each, which was probably against the Prime Minister’s orders. Since they were twins, it implicitly made sense for them to be the ones to share the room with two beds.

Roka had rather easily bent to them, and Cero thought it might speed up the process of the awkwardness’ dissolution, so he let it go as well.

A fourth room had been reserved by the only member of the mildly incohesive crew that Cero hadn’t met just yet.

He followed Tina and Gina’s discussion for a bit, without much thought or intent put into it.

His senses were sharp enough to pick up on the various sounds and noises echoing in the compact spaceship without focusing on them at all.

Cero started walking upon hearing an interesting fact about the last member of the crew.

It didn’t take long to reach the cockpit door, and Cero sighed once more.

Privacy was something he valued quite a bit, and there wasn’t much to be had on the Xerox 77.

Gone were the days when he could wander down different halls and corridors, from one room to the other, on his way down to the vault where his loving first wife resided. Gone were the days of secrets and stealthy nocturnal expeditions.

Were something to happen with Roka, Cero was certain that it would easily be heard by all passengers aboard.

This wasn’t something he particularly disliked. Let them hear if they want, but secrets did make things spicier.

Knock- Knock-

“Who is it?”

The voice beyond the cockpit door matched what he had heard Gina and Tina say.

“Cero.” He answered simply, unsure if further explanation was necessary.

The light above turned green. The sliding doors had been unlocked.

They opened a moment later.

Cero stepped in, and his left eyebrow rose as he reached the flight deck.

To his right lay the person who would be their Navigator for the duration of the mission.

“You really are a guy,” Cero whispered in surprise.

“…” The Navigator didn’t sigh or frown. “I see that the misandry of the Worka has unfortunately rubbed off on you.”

Cero’s surprise only grew. Unbeknownst to him, the misandry had indeed rubbed off on Cero.

“Sorry,” He shrugged. “I got used to Wor, that’s all.”

“Are you saying that there are no competent male Navigators on Wor?”

Cero wanted to sigh, but there was no emotion in the Navigator’s voice. He wasn’t being petty, dismissive, or even acting offended. The Navigator had asked the question in seemingly pure honesty and curiosity.

“I wouldn’t know.” Cero shrugged again. “Nolan, right?”

Nolan nodded.

The Navigator being a guy was interesting, but not the most interesting thing about Nolan.

‘I can’t believe that I’m interested and not disappointed at the fact that there’s one more guy and one less gal here.’ Cero rubbed his forehead. ‘Still…’

It wasn’t like a male from Wor had been chosen to be their Navigator.

“You’re staring,” Nolan said, eyes locked on the flight deck.

Cero continued staring.

The Navigator let out a sigh, finally showing some emotion and turning towards Cero.

“Never seen purple skin before?” He asked.

Cero shook his head.

He had seen Lith and the Graniliths’ blue skin, the Worka’s red skin, and the different shades that Human skin could take.

Purple wasn’t too far from blue, but far enough for some staring to be in order.

Nolan’s hair was also purple, a slightly deeper shade than his skin.

The skin was Orchid, and the hair Purple to be exact.

Having stared his fill, Cero scratched his head with a sigh.

Though there was only one Navigator aboard, there were two seats in the cockpit.

Cero took the empty seat for himself.

The Navigator watched him for a bit, expecting remarks or questions, but Cero remained perfectly quiet.

Nolan’s gaze went back to the flight deck in front of him, to the different screens that showcased various angles of the view in front, behind, and around the spaceship, and the countless buttons that Cero ignored.

‘I’m really starting to become interested as well.’ He thought to himself. ‘I wonder if I can grab the blood sample from Nolan…’

Once again, apart from the shade of skin and hair color, there was no real difference between the Worka and the Jinx, Jin’s people.

The Graniliths were slightly different, with the males having rocky, jagged outer skin, but the females perfectly fit.

‘I wonder what you’re doing now…’ Cero found himself pondering. ‘Raya.’

Unbeknownst to him, Raya had run into a bit of trouble.

The trouble had been closing in for a while now, and it was only thanks to the Prime Minister’s efforts that it had been kept at bay. Unfortunately, he did not have the opportunity to make that kind of trouble disappear.

It had been closing in on every member of the crew.

Rea, Liz, Raya, Roka, Kris, Bak, Al, and even Jay.

For different reasons, the others were shielded from trouble for longer, and Raya was the first to run into them.

“And you are?” Raya asked with a frown.

“Oh! Yes, sorry!” The enthusiastic Worka exposed his identification proudly. “I am Fran Ducci, Officer of the Intergalactic Federation Of The United Living. This is my partner, Kow Bjorn.”

Raya tried her best not to show a reaction to the identification paper, clearly proving his employment by the Syndicate, the all-mighty Syndicate.

Fran Ducci had chosen a less ominous and more official way of referring to the union, but all the same.

“What can we do for you?” Rina asked as she shielded her sister by standing between them.

The Syndicate employees exchanged a glance.

“Well…”
