Chapter 438: Renew our vows

Demitri finally pulled away, allowing them a moment to catch their breath. In the dimly lit room, their gazes locked. With ease, Demitri swept Nora into his arms, holding her close as he carried her to the room upstairs.

He kicked the door shut behind him with the back of his foot, his movements smooth and purposeful. Crossing the room in a few strides, he gently laid her down on the bed. Nora didn’t let go, her hand clutched his, pulling him down with her.

As his knee sank into the mattress beside her, Demitri removed his glasses first. Then, he reached for the hem of his sweatshirt and pulled it over his head, revealing the sculpted lines of his torso in the soft glow of the room.

Nora slowly raised her hand, her fingers brushing against the ridges of Demitri’s abdomen. She traced the defined lines up to his chest, feeling the heat of his skin under her touch. A low groan rumbled from his throat, deep and involuntary.

Before she could savor the moment, Demitri caught her hand and pinned it beside her head, his mouth claiming hers again in a fervent, demanding kiss.

There was a different kind of intensity in him tonight, his movements more urgent, his touch seemed more possessive. She could feel it in the way he kissed her, as if trying to silence something burning within him.

His other hand slid around her waist, gripping her firmly before trailing down to the hem of her top. His large, warm palm pressed against her bare stomach, igniting a flush that spread rapidly across her cheeks.

Her breath caught in her throat when his hand explored her curves, his under her bralette.

Demitri pulled away from the kiss once more, his breath ragged as he lifted the hem of Nora’s top and slipped it over her head. The soft fabric fell to the floor, and for a brief moment, they simply looked at each other. Both of their chests rising and falling in quick succession.

“Nora,” Demitri whispered, his gaze locked with hers, searching her hazel eyes as if they held every answer he needed.

“Why did you stop?” she asked, her voice barely above a breath, her teeth grazing her lower lip in nervous anticipation.

Gently, he brought his thumb to her mouth and pressed it against her lip, shaking his head with a faint smile. “Don’t do that,” he murmured. “It drives me crazy.”

Her heart skipped a beat in her chest.

“I haven’t stopped,” he added softly, “I was just… admiring you.”

He leaned in, kissing her with a tender reverence that contrasted the intensity from earlier. One of his hands slid behind her, fingers deftly reaching for the clasp of her bralette, while the other traveled down to her thigh, slipping under the fabric of her long skirt. His touch was slow and deliberate, as though savoring every second, every inch of her.

Demitri’s lips wandered from her mouth to the delicate curve of her chin, then slowly traced a path down her neck.

He placed open-mouthed kisses along her skin, pausing where her shoulder met her neck to leave a heated mark, a hickey that made her breath hitch.

One of his hands cupped her breast with gentle reverence, his thumb brushing over her sensitive peak, while the other slid up her thigh to the waistband of her skirt, ready to remove it.

Nora’s moans stayed soft, muffled by the tension in her throat as her fingers clenched the sheets beneath her. Demitri’s mouth moved lower, reaching the curve of her breast. His teeth gently grazed the sensitive peak, sending a jolt of pleasure through her.

“Ahh!” Nora gasped, her eyes flying open. “Angh…” A louder moan escaped her lips as his mouth closed around her, sucking with deliberate intensity.

Nora placed her hands firmly on his chest and, with a swift motion, flipped him onto the bed, straddling him with quiet confidence. She swept her hair back with one hand, then leaned down to capture his lips in a kiss that brimmed with urgency.

Demitri’s lips curved into a smile as he propped himself up on his elbows, meeting her halfway. His hands settled on her hips, grounding her against him as their mouths moved in sync.

Their bare chests pressed together, hearts racing, as the kiss deepened. It was fierce, full of hunger, and unspoken emotions.

~~~~~
Lucius and Layla stepped into their bedroom after they had bid farewell to Ivy and her parents.
“I’m truly happy for Roderick,” Lucius said, his voice carrying a warmth that hadn’t been there in the past. He closed the door behind them and turned to her.
“There was a time when I barely paid attention to what he was doing… when I didn’t even try to understand him. But now, things are different. And I like this change, Layla. I like what we’re becoming as a family.”
“Of course, you’ve always loved your nephew. That’s why all of this means so much to you,” Layla said softly as she walked over to the bed.
She settled down, hugging a plush toy to her chest. “By the way, Bella asked about Rick’s marriage when we met yesterday.”
Lucius, who had just taken off his blazer and draped it over the chair, paused and turned to her with a frown. “Why would she ask about that?”
Layla looked down for a moment, then met his gaze. “Because she still has feelings for him.”
Lucius climbed into bed beside her, a skeptical look on his face. “Why? After everything? I hope she’s not planning anything.”
“She’s not,” Layla said firmly. “Orabela isn’t like Seraphina. She’s not walking down the same path as her mother. She’s trying to be better.”
“But why did she even bring up Rick?” Lucius asked, trying to make sense of it. “He told her a long time ago that he wasn’t interested. Honestly, I can’t forgive Roderick either, for leading on two women at the same time.”
“Rick wasn’t loyal to her,” Layla admitted gently. “But Orabela did have strong feelings for him. She just… lied about a lot of things to protect her pride.”
“Still,” Lucius sighed, “it’s all in the past now. She should move on.”
“Maybe it’s not as easy as it sounds,” Layla said, her voice softening. “If you hadn’t been there for me… If you hadn’t married me, I don’t know how I would’ve moved forward.”
Lucius looked at her for a moment, then smiled warmly. “Should we renew our vows?”
Layla’s eyes lit up instantly, a spark of happiness flashing in them. “Really?”
“I’ve mentioned it before, but it never happened,” Lucius said. “This time, I want both of our families to be there. What if we do it on the same day Rick and Ivy get married?”
Layla beamed, nodding. “That’s a beautiful idea. Honestly, my memories from our wedding day aren’t the best. I didn’t even know what I was saying at the altar. So… let’s do it right this time.”
“Sure,” Lucius said with a warm smile.
“I’ve also been thinking… I want to visit my parents this weekend,” Layla added, her voice thoughtful.
“That’s nice,” Lucius replied, nodding. “They deserve a little time with you. Let them pamper you a bit.”
Layla gave a soft hum. “I know. I shouldn’t be so harsh on them. They’ve tried, in their own way.”
“You made the right decision,” Lucius whispered, gently taking her hands in his. He brought them to his lips, pressing a tender kiss on her knuckles. Then, leaning in, he kissed her softly on the lips, a gesture full of love.
“Let’s sleep then,” Lucius said softly. “But I’ll change first.”
Layla glanced at him with a curious look. “How did your meeting with Demitri go?”
Lucius nodded thoughtfully. “It went well. I advised him not to interfere with whatever Nora wants to do. Regarding the front desk staff, I’ll take responsibility for investigating the situation.”
Layla sighed, a hint of regret in her voice. “Maybe I was too lenient last time. But since we don’t have any concrete evidence, I decided to hold off on making any decisions about firing them.”
Lucius offered her a reassuring smile, tinged with playful confidence. “You made the right call. Leave this to me, Chairwoman. You can trust that I’ll handle it thoroughly.”
“Okay!” Layla agreed with him.
Lucius made his way down the bed and opened the cupboard to take out his clothes.
“Lucius, you know, you’re not only a great husband and lover, but a great friend too. I love you so much,” Layla said suddenly with a radiant smile.
Lucius turned to face her. “That compliment made my heart flutter,” he said.
“You should get used to such compliments. You’re going to be a great father to our baby. I know this well,” she affirmed.
“I don’t know… But yeah… I want to be an ideal father for our baby,” Lucius asserted, his smile widening further.
