Capítulo 654: Speech

Unedited chapter. It will be edited soon.

–

Charlotte turned to look at him. “Me?” she asked.

“Obviously. You’re the best among us at leading troops, aren’t you?”

“Uh… Since when am I good at leading troops?”

“You’re the best strategist I’ve ever met, you know?” Matthew glanced at her sideways as he shrugged his shoulders.

“Sigh.” She sighed visibly, knowing that Matthew was simply relegating things to her. “You’ll be the one to speak for me,” she said, putting her hood back on to hide her human features.

–

After an hour of moving around inside the city, where they were taken to different parts to get acquainted and also to take a look at the armies, they gathered by the sea, on the other side of the mountains.

The crowd was astonishing; even Matthew hadn’t expected this Clan to have so many people in its armies. Although they weren’t as powerful as the Allen Clan’s armies, they did have admirable strength, but even more than that, they had a vast array of weapons at their disposal.

There were also large beasts belonging to the forces, which practically outnumbered those of the other clans.

There were enormous elephants of different types, prepared for war. Gigantic birds, animals that travel underground, wyverns, and even regiments of dragons.

It was an army that commanded respect.

Less powerful, but more reckless and diverse.

Matthew and Charlotte were reminded of the human troops on Earth. So much diversification, and it ended up ruined in the hands of the Emperor.

But in this world, those Emperors barely had control over some elements, and they were not so advanced.

“I wonder how strong those guys are. They don’t look that powerful,” Matthew thought, but he cleared his mind of such thoughts, for he was not here to wonder about the strength of his enemies, whom he had not forgotten and whom he had sworn to destroy.

He stepped forward, for he had to be the first to speak, along with Patrick.

Patrick immediately raised his voice.

“Gentlemen, you all know what our ancestral lands are going through these days. The cruel and vile invasion of bastards who think they are powerful, but cannot throw the stone without hiding their hand,” he said, beginning his speech.

“We, the Wagners, have always been neutral. We have accumulated wealth and power, we have reached the top and created the Herrero Kingdom. You are all part of it and have the credentials to back it up, while at the same time you are all the creators of this great and prosperous kingdom.”

“A kingdom that knows no poverty. But it has been invaded by those bastards. For months we have been tolerating them, but that is because, although we are numerous, powerful, and rich, we cannot escape the sphere of influence of the great clans that allied themselves with them, nor can we deny the fact that they have strength.”

“But, just as we have told you to prepare yourselves because we may soon go to war, today we say to you: We are going to war. A war that will be a unilateral annihilation of our enemies. Trust me when I tell you that we have the advantage.” After saying those few words, he stepped aside and pointed to Matthew.

“We all revere the Dietrichs because they are the ones who have given us our greatness. Without them destroying the sun, how could we rise above the other races that fed on it? Without them giving us our abilities, how could we have stood up to the invaders and ruled for so long?”

“The man beside me is Matthew Dietrich, the last descendant of that legendary family. He will be the one to lead you in this war.”

With that, he ended his speech and gave Matthew the floor.

“I must say I am surprised by the private armed forces you have. It is something to be commended; it is not for nothing that you are one of the most powerful Vampire Clans,” said Matthew, beginning to speak.

“That’s why I came to you. I didn’t really come looking for help; I came because I wanted to know if you were traitors. If you were, then a harsh end awaited you, but since you are not, a glorious future will open up for you.”

“My surname is indeed Dietrich, and although I know that many of you want to know what happened to my family and why I am in this era, we don’t have much time to answer. You should only know that I have been fighting against the troops who want to turn our race into a slave race of powerful beings who feared my family in the past.”

“I cannot allow this. I, as Matthew Dietrich, rose up and destroyed the government of the City of Clans in a few hours, taking control of it. There I realized the extent of the treachery and corruption that existed in all the kingdoms.”

“So I decided to look the other way and banished the traitorous forces from the Kingdom of Richter in a matter of days. Finally, I traveled to Zimmerman and destroyed its capital, so that I could rescue one of my most loyal followers, someone who is surely known among you, Jack Allen,” he said, pointing to Jack before continuing on.

“And then I decided to come to you, because your Kingdom is attacking us, wanting to destroy us. The information I recently received is that humans are supporting this attack and have also launched an attack from the other side.” He took a long breath.

“Vampires allied with humans. An affront to my family’s historic struggles, an insult to the race. At that time, vampires and humans detested each other, because one loved what the other destroyed. When we finally had a small alliance, they stabbed us in the back and triggered the Great War 10 million years ago.”

“Do you really believe my family fought for this? For a world where vampires become allies with humans, to destroy other vampires?”

“If the answer to those questions is No, then it’s time for us to fight again for the race, alongside the race. The traitors must be eradicated, the new ones and the old ones, even though they are both the same. So, it’s time to move. We have the troops right behind them, it’s the perfect opportunity to attack them and eradicate them completely. Shall we do it?” He smiled.

Both Patrick’s speech and his own made those present think as if it were a final verdict.

Every word spoken by both of them was valuable, but listening to a true Dietrich, who had been recognized as such by the whole world and who had sparked movements around the world both for and against him, was a joy that few enjoyed.

So they listened attentively and recorded his words. They did not hesitate, for he who hesitates sins treason.

And when his words ended, after a battle cry that shook the earth and the mountains and that only the sea could drown out, the great armies moved under the command of Matthew and Patrick.

Likewise, several powerful elders joined the call.

Practically the entire high command of the Clan.

That was because they wanted to deliver the greatest blow that had been dealt in this war, and they were fully prepared to do so.

That is why they covered all the retreat areas of the armies in front of them, quite far from here.
