Chapter 648: Alice, the Master of the Spiritual Abyss (1)
The “corridor” between the two mountains was quite large and completely dry. A large army could pass through here without any problems, and in fact, they already had.
The weeds that had once grown slowly died after being trampled for many years, leaving it completely barren.
As one of the most important outposts between the Dark Kingdom and the Human Empire, there are always people walking through here. But today it was silent, with only the echo of Alice’s heels reverberating between the rocky walls of the mountains.
This rapid, repeated sound soon began to be heard by the first men of the human army, but they did not pay any attention to it.
THUMP*
THUMP*
Alice walked calmly through, as if there were no army in front of her. She wasn’t really worried; instead, she was smiling.
‘It feels like it’s been a long time since I used this power, but it’s only been a few weeks. Was it a month?’ Alice murmured, remembering that battle over the capital of the Kingdom of Richter.
“These days, I haven’t been able to sense the passage of time. I wonder if it’s just me.”
She summoned her sword, made by Paul, and smiled as she looked at it, her figure reflected in it by the moonlight. “Well, I suppose it’s time for the Master of the Spiritual Abyss to make her presence felt in this world once again.”
“Seven Spirits of the Abyss,” she whispered once more.
Her figure suddenly changed as strong winds began to blow, carrying her words far away from here. Her hair fluttered in the wind as her milky white dress with gold trim and a sash at the waist began to move gently.
With every step she took, she created more and more winds, and seven different types of energy manifested around her.
The gentle currents of energy began to form those mythical sources, which slowly transformed into seven energy centers, spinning as if they were a magical portal or a turbulent black hole.
The Seven Spirits of the Abyss of the Master of the Spiritual Abyss made their presence felt in the world once again.
And this created a sudden, terrifying, murmuring coldness that spread in all directions.
Left and right, covering the mountains and telling the women that something big was coming.
Behind, warning their retreating allies that it was time for a sure victory.
And ahead, announcing to their enemies that they were destined to perish.
“Where does this strange coldness come from?”
“The front?”
“Stop!” shouted the leaders and generals of this great army. “Prepare for a deadly attack; this cold energy must come from those damn vampires!”
“Everyone on guard, battle position!”
“Shields to the front, mages behind, swordsmen and those with skills, it’s time to show your true abilities!”
Each shout from them made the soldiers’ hair stand on end, but they all did as their leaders said and prepared for the arrival of a high-ranking army.
They had all come here with the intention of facing them, after all.
But no matter how long they waited, nothing came. They didn’t even hear the sound of footsteps, but the coldness continued to intensify.
“Hey.” One of the soldiers frowned. “Don’t you hear that?”
“It’s like a heel hitting stone, right?”
“Yes… and it seems to have voices.”
“Voices? That’s right… but they don’t seem to be human or vampire.”
The soldiers at the front were the first to notice the peculiarity, while the rest gradually began to hear that soft, elegant, and very powerful sound.
“What is it?” Someone tried to see more clearly, staring intently at the corridor between the two mountains. “I see something,” said someone, which alarmed his companions and made them tense up.
“Is it just one person?” Even he questioned what he was seeing, but out of fear, he didn’t move. In fact, with every step he saw that single person take, the cold winds intensified.
It got so cold that they began to shiver. The last thing they expected to feel in this arid desert was a cold like this. Although the cold is rampant because the world is always dark, this cold was not normal.
It penetrated their bones and reached their marrow, making them shiver to the farthest reaches of their bodies.
And that figure walking from the corridor between the mountains soon made an appearance. First, her body was visible because of the moon’s position, and slowly her torso, long hair, and chest began to appear.
Her black eyes seemed to shine, but at the same time, it seemed as if they weren’t there.
“Alice Allen!” one shouted, recognizing her instantly. “Did she come alone? What the hell is going on?”
Seeing no army behind them, the leaders and pillars frowned.
Something was wrong.
Those strange sources of energy floating around her told them that no easy fate awaited them.
She had come alone, one of Matthew Dietrich’s women. There was no way she had come to give up her life or fight to the death. She must have a plan.
But they had never heard of Alice being able to fight so many people alone. What the hell was going on?
Alice looked them over before nodding. “You humans are truly numerous—a small part of your armies already numbers in the hundreds of thousands. I’m impressed,” she said.
From the other side, one of the human leaders mocked her. “Instead, you send only one to face us. What the hell is that idiot Dietrich thinking? It’s like they say, vampires aren’t cut out for strategy.”
“Haha, it seems you’re forgetting one thing, little human leader.” She laughed. “When Matthew and I were weaklings, we got rid of one like you, a potbellied idiot who couldn’t even see death coming. Now I think even if all your comrades came against me, I could kill them.”
“Hmph, little tricks against an old fool always work. Don’t think I’m like that idiot.”
“Hahaha, of course I don’t believe that. I think you’re even more idiotic than he is.”
“Hahahaha, well, let me see what you believe. How do you intend to face more than 200,000 men, all by yourself? I want to find out!” He summoned his weapon, a spear.
“More than 200,000? Hehe, where are they? I don’t see them.” Alice declared in a judgmental voice that made her rivals shudder.
