Chapter 647: She wants to wage an unequal war
But this encounter between two great armies did not take place in a head-on manner; rather, it followed a strange strategy of endurance.
The smaller army, although it had greater maneuverability in such a large field, was not taking advantage of it to do what it had done until now: use it to destroy more by attacking flanks.
Instead, they chose a battle of attrition, which clearly did not benefit them, in which the first ones endured the attacks and moved backward, allowing new ones to withstand those attacks, and the cycle repeated itself.
However, although this did not seem to favor them, they moved so spectacularly with huge shields and extremely large weapons that it was too difficult to kill or tire them. So they managed to advance, even though they did not want to, as this tactic worked out for them in the best possible way: they held out and had time to kill those who attacked them.
Of course, this wouldn’t last long before the enemy commanders realized the situation and decided to be more careful, but for Emma, it was enough to buy time however possible and minimize losses.
Now, unlike the first confrontation weeks ago, these clashes weren’t involving the pillars as the main players. They wanted to wear down the enemy until the perfect opportunity to attack arose.
They were wary of Sophia’s group, mainly because they did not know Matthew’s whereabouts and because their women were too impressive in these pitched battles.
Furthermore, as they had them practically surrounded, they had the advantage. They could play the attrition game because they had almost infinite resources waiting behind them, ready to replenish their losses. Sophia’s side did not.
That’s why, even though Sophia and the others kept fighting, they didn’t go too deep into the ranks. Because they were also looking out for each other.
This fact was even more evident in this battle. But there were no suspicions.
The battle continued to unfold, slowly and astonishingly, on this side.

As soon as Alice arrived at the attack zone with the humans, the mountainous areas smiled at her, as if announcing that they were waiting for her.
The allied armies were behind the mountains, and although the rival army knew that there was an army on this side, reconnaissance had failed miserably in recent days, making it impossible for them to see the other side. For these reasons, they did not know the numbers.
‘Trying to gather intelligence on the Schafers is easier said than done. These guys are really prepared to avoid any kind of reconnaissance. No wonder humans seem like headless chickens,’ Alice thought, smiling quietly as she looked beyond the mountains.
Several people came out to greet her. Karla Schwarz and her counterpart in the Schafer clan.
“Miss Alice, what brings you here?” Karla asked.
“Ava will inform you of this later, but since I arrived first, begin to retreat in an orderly fashion. Until nightfall, prevent those guys from continuing their reconnaissance until all the armies are gone. Then I’ll take care of the rest. Only women trained with explosive weapons are allowed to stay,” she said.
Karla looked at her in shock. “You intend to fight with so few people?” she asked.
“Yes,” Alice nodded.
“Miss Alice, we have an army of 5,000 here. All trained by the Schafers and the Schwarzes. We are prepared to face an army of more than 100,000, and we can be victorious. If you let us, we will deliver good results,” she said.
But Alice shook her head as she descended. “That won’t work for me. It is precisely because you are men of war that you need to go to the place where there is the greatest threat. There are more than 10 Pillars on the other side, and they have the main army practically surrounded. We can’t win on our own, unless my father and the others get rid of Richter’s troublesome offspring and the church’s envoys.”
“You still have a long way to go for that, so you must help the entire army buy time. So go back. I can take care of this side on my own,” she said with certainty.
Karla frowned. “It’s not that I don’t trust you, Miss Alice. Mr. Matthew chose you and gave you incredible power, but…” She was slightly concerned.
Alice patted her on the head.
“You’re older than me, so you should know better than a bunch of scavengers gathered together, they’ll never be stronger than a dragon. They only have numbers, and numbers against me are nothing. Just do as I say and everything will be fine,” she said.
Although Karla was worried, she recognized that what she was saying was true.
As they talked and walked through the camp built among the trees, Ava arrived and began to announce what they had agreed upon earlier.
Ava took all the armies with her, retreating into the trees so as not to alert the enemy.
Only 700 women remained, specialized in explosive attacks, and they gathered in Alice’s shadow.
“Besides launching explosives with those weapons, what else can you do?” Alice asked after climbing to the top of the mountain that same night.
She was looking at the enemy armies, more than 100,000 men, who were already beginning to mobilize. That meant the armies on the other sides were also on the move.
“Lady Alice, although we are not the elite of the group, we can fight hand-to-hand and we specialize in long-range combat with magic. Master Matthew blessed some of us with spirits, so some excel more than others in different types of situations, but all are focused on short- and long-range combat,” replied one of the girls, the leader here.
“Good. They don’t know we have that kind of power because it hasn’t been used in war again, so we’ll attack the great army from above the mountains with explosive attacks,” said Alice, pointing to the mountains she was referring to.
The one they were on and the mountain next to it.
“Are you coming with us, Lady Alice?”
“No. I will fight at the front. If you have shields, be sure to use them to avoid avalanches in the mountains, as they will surely attack us with magic from long distances. Go now. They are already mobilizing. I will give you the signal to attack.”
“We understand, Lady Alice. Please be careful.”
After that, the 700 women split up between the two mountains, while Alice walked between them, heading for the place where the armies were coming from, ready for combat.
