Chapter 642: Final Test for You
As he watched what was happening in the dungeon, Matthew began theorizing about what he saw. Something amazing happened: Alfred was being hit at ridiculous speed, but there was no way it could be speed.
‘I see.’ His eyes sparkled with interest when he understood what was happening. ‘The golems that manage to hit him are the ones he destroys in a position where he is about to be hit. The atoms then remain in that position, waiting for regeneration, and when they regenerate, they naturally end up hitting him,’ he thought.
It made a lot of sense, considering how this strange ability worked. Now, this was much more exhausting than he had expected.
Thanks to his speed and strength, that guy could destroy the golems at a ridiculous speed, and each destruction had to be followed by regeneration, so it was very exhausting for him.
Even so, he had been able to conduct many successful tests, so he was satisfied, although he still had a long way to go.
Alfred had trouble continuing through the dungeon, but at a certain point, instead of destroying the golems, he dragged them all over the dungeon as he searched for the end. Luckily for him, there weren’t many immortal golems like those, so it was a little easier for him, but this thing was huge.
‘How big is it? What kind of skills does that guy have?’ Alfred felt frustrated as he walked through the long corridors.
He had only a few words: As expected of Matthew Dietrich, who is said to have thousands of skills to his credit, each of them of superior power.
Although he was born and created specifically to counter that bastard, his family overlooked something important: He could have a skill they didn’t know about.
This is it.
He kept wondering what kind of ability it was, but he couldn’t do much more than try to theorize.
As he walked through the long corridors filled with golems, he suddenly came to a place with only a huge door.
‘What a big thing,’ he thought. He was tempted to destroy it, but knowing that many things here could not be destroyed for sure, he swallowed that urge and simply opened it.
Behind him were still the immortal golems following him for over an hour, although he had decided to ignore them, raising his defense so that their blows would not harm him.
As he crossed the door, he froze.
“God… Do I have to kill that thing?”
A golem the size of a mountain stood before him, staring at him with red eyes. It had eight arms and strange, extremely giant wings made of stone. He didn’t feel it could fly, because even though its wings were large, could they propel such a heavy body?
How many tons did that thing weigh?
Just thinking about it gave him a headache; numbers weren’t his thing.
He prepared to attack, knowing that he could end this nonsense only by destroying the object in front of him.
Just then, a voice rang out.
“Little Hill, this is the final test for you. I hope you are worthy enough to endure it. Once you pass, you will be able to face me.” This voice echoed from all sides.
Alfred could tell where it was coming from and launched an attack at the ceiling, specifically at the spot where Matthew was. Even so, this attack simply destroyed a portion of the ceiling, which immediately regenerated itself.
“Tsk, you’re a pretty tough bastard, I have to admit. It’s not for nothing that you’re a legend in the outside world,” he said.
“Hehe, you might as well think about giving up, too,” Matthew said casually.
“Haha, I was created to kill you, Matthew Dietrich. You’re just a little deer whose predator is nearby. You think you’ve trapped me here, but sooner or later, I’ll find you. Which will run out faster? Your energy to keep all this going, or my power?”
Matthew shrugged. “I’d like to test whose patience is stronger, but I don’t have much time either. So I hope you can pass my tests. Honestly, I’m bored here.”
Alfred decided to ignore his rival’s nonsense. Instead, he stared intently at the huge golem in front of him.
‘It’s gigantic, but the bigger it is, the more useless it can be,’ he thought.
His body glowed with powerful force, and he shot toward the golem. His strength was astonishing, and he managed to strike one of the giant’s arms.
This arm broke into pieces, and the rocks fell to the ground, scattered throughout the room.
‘It doesn’t regenerate.’ He smiled. ‘If you don’t take advantage of your greatest advantage when you need to, then you’ll die as soon as I see you, Matthew Dietrich.’ He immediately struck once more.
But he had forgotten something. He was fighting a guy who had eight arms. Destroying one of them meant nothing to someone who felt no pain.
That’s why he suddenly felt himself being hit seven times in succession. The next attack seemed to be stronger than the previous one because they were hitting the same spot.
His body flew backward and hit the smaller golems waiting behind him. Although his body crushed some of them, they immediately recovered and hit him again.
These blows didn’t hurt, but the giant golem’s blows stung a little.
He had to push the immortal golems away and stare at the giant golem.
‘Quite a bit faster and more powerful than I expected. Where does this guy get such exotic abilities? I could never understand why this bastard has so many abilities.’ He sighed visibly and jumped back at the golem.
Every time he rammed into it, he lost an arm. He tried to smash its chest, but it seemed to be reinforced with ridiculously resistant material inside, so his blows were fruitless. After repeatedly trying different ways to attack, he ended up getting hit again.
Even so, his speed and strength were superior. This golem was strong and resilient, but it wasn’t impossible to destroy. He slowly smashed it into pieces, scattering them throughout the room.
By the time he destroyed the last part of the golem, Alfred stretched his arms, quite exhausted.
“Damn, this thing was many times more massive than an imposing mountain. Where did you get it?” he complained, trying to talk to Matthew.
It had taken him a long time to destroy it, even though it didn’t recover completely, and it was all because it was too hard.
“Hehe.” Suddenly, a laugh came from behind him, making him shudder.
