Capítulo 1265: Good News and Bad News

When asked to choose which to hear first, between good news and bad news, the choice should always be good news first.

Some would say that going for the bad news first, then picking the good news later, helps clear the bad news and leaves the person enthusiastic about the good news they hear.

However, bad news is always there to stay, whereas good news is but a fleeting moment.

If one learns bad news before hearing good news, they would still have the lingering bad news at the back of their minds. This, in a way, limits the amount of joy they should have felt from the good news.

So Kent made his choice…”The good news first.”

As they say, live now and cry later.

Vexthra nodded and produced a small disc-like item. “This is the Star Compass. It is what I went to the god realm for. This item is what you will need to cross over from this galaxy to the other.”

Kent looked at the item with a scrutinising gaze. It seems ordinary to him. There seems to be nothing interesting about it.

However, when he tried to probe deeper into it, something blocked his senses, preventing him from seeing what it was made of.

“How does it work?” Kent asked.

“Very simple. Once you reach the edge of this galaxy and you activate it, it will lead you to a pathway called [Star Gateway]. This Star Gateway links galaxies together.

From what I learned, these pathways used to be safe and very easy to traverse, but not anymore.” Vexthra paused and took a deep breath…”Now, about the good news part.”

Kent raised his brow, somehow stunned…”So that wasn’t the good news?”

“Of course not. The good news starts when you step into the Star Gateway. In fact, the good news and the bad news are both on the path through the Star Gateway.”

“I see.” Kent nodded, slightly taken aback but ready to hear what lies ahead, “You can go ahead then.”

“So the good news is, there is a path that is relatively safe compared to the chaotic path through the Spatial Field, where terrifying space beasts lie in wait to slaughter and devour you.

Through this Gateway, although there are space beasts, their numbers are limited, and they aren’t too powerful compared to the Spatial Field.

Of course, the reason why they wouldn’t be too dangerous is that this Star Compass will shield you from Immortal King-level space beasts and above.

However, you would have to fight True Immortal-level space beasts and below.”

Kent smiled and said, “Some good news you have there, Vex. But I suppose it’s better than facing demigods and shit.”

Vexthra also smiled, but she said nothing. Deep down, she knew battling space beasts, even those at just the Death Stage, was already too damn dangerous for someone like Kent, who was but a mortal.

So, if that is an impossible battle, then moving from Root Immortal to True Immortal would be a battle that Kent would never forget.

“I know it is impossible to face such danger. But you can run since this is not a trial but a journey from one point to another,” Vexthra said thoughtfully. “You can even choose not to battle a single beast and just make a run for it.”

“It was also one of the reasons why I brought the Void Liquid. Once you fuse with the Jade Void Wings, your speed will become much more explosive.”

“That makes sense. If you can’t win, then better run,” Kent chuckled, already feeling a headache.

“What about the bad news?” If the good news is already this depressing, then the bad news will be heartbreaking for sure.

“For the bad news, the Star Compass, once activated, will only last for 101 days. Not even a second would be added to that time, so you would have that long to traverse the chaotic path of the Star Gateway from this galaxy to where you intend to go.

If you fail to reach there and the time runs out, then the Immortal Kings and above space beasts will sense you and come after you.”

“What was I even expecting?” Kent laughed, feeling amused at the moment. He had never once considered that maybe this was just him facing the backlash for all the pain he had caused in the past.

He knew he had lived many lives after all. However, looking at the journey now laid out before him, he knew he would soon be embarking on a chaotic adventure, one that would test him.

Of course, he could have easily travelled to the other galaxy if he were selfish.

In fear of causing irreversible damage to the fabric of reality, using the Starbound Compass would have come in handy at this point.

However, he learned that whenever he used the Starbound Compass to travel the universe, he irretrievably harmed the fabric of reality.

This harm can, in a way, destroy an entire planet overnight, or even a whole planetary system.

So he refuses to use it again. According to Vexthra, the compass is a part of something big. Using it in its singular form is a risk he cannot afford to take.

Now, his only way forward is to use the method Vexthra had gotten him and hope that he makes it through within 101 days.

“It is better than none,” Kent said, somehow okay with the turn of events…”At least I now know there is a path and the strength of the beings I would be facing.”

Kent let out a deep sigh. “Although no training will ever prepare me to face True Immortals, with enough preparation, I can make it through.”

“That is the spirit.” Vexthra commended him. Of course, she didn’t want to dampen his spirit, not when he was already under a lot of pressure.

“I would work hard to prepare for this adventure. But before that, I have to go away for a while. I believe that with where I intend to go next, I will make some progress there.”

Vexthra turned and stared at him wildly, “Where do you intend to go?”

“The Upside-Down Underworld Forest.” This time, Vexthra furrowed her brow, somehow intrigued with the choice Kent had made.

“One of the Ten Calamity Zones. Looks like you will be facing a lot of danger there. Perhaps that is for the best. It will prepare you for the star gateway”

“I know and am prepared for it. After all, the plan is to get to Elina as fast as possible.”

“I see. Be careful then. I know you are strong, but a lawless domain is both unpredictable and incredibly dangerous for everyone, regardless of your strength.”

Kent nodded.

He had already done his research many years ago, so he is ready to face it. However, before that, there is also the need to address the remaining three beasts he needed the fangs for.

He gave that task to the tower and Gaia, so by the time he is back from the Upside-Down Underworld Forest, he will have an answer for them.

Kent decided to spend some quality time with Vexthra, who had missed out on all the fun. Of course, his wives had already made up their minds to let him spend most of his time on the mission.

They don’t want to disturb him more often and distract him from his mission.

So in the end, he spent only two days with Vexthra and retired to the Sword Tower to fuse with the Jade Void Wings.
