My Werewolf System - Chapter 1616
Chapter 1616: Transformation
The trio of Werewolves continued their training as they usually would. By this point, they were already ahead of most of the class, skilled enough and trusted enough that they were allowed to practice freely by themselves. And that was exactly what they did.
They moved across the training grounds with a familiarity that came from repetition, footsteps steady, breaths controlled, minds focused.
They were trying to figure out how to better utilise their Qi as well as how to handle particular items. Each of them experimented in their own way, pushing their bodies and instincts to understand more. Lupus was even starting to get on the same wavelength as Gary. After enjoying the shield he had used during training, Lupus couldn’t stop thinking about it. A high-tier beast shield… if only he could get his hands on one.
He wondered if he could hide one somewhere in the past and then dig it up again when they returned to the present. The idea stuck with him, circling his thoughts like a persistent echo. If that didn’t work, then he definitely needed to contact the Dark Guild and see if they had managed to source a shield for him.
Lupus still had a good relationship with them in the back of his hand, a silent promise kept between them. They were his trump card, his hidden advantage, for the day he knew would eventually come, the day he had to deal with the Vampires.
Eventually, the lesson came to an end.
“Hey,” Kai said, wiping a hand along the back of his neck. “Bluebird told us to meet him right outside the castle meeting room, right? So he could introduce us to Jack?”
“Yeah, you’re right. We should get going,” Gary replied, tossing his towel over his shoulder.
The three of them moved through the castle, realizing yet again that as long as they kept their red-colored sashes on, they were able to access certain areas without question. That sash was the key, a mark of permission, a quiet pass through the guarded halls.
They walked past tall stone pillars and long tapestries that hung down like silent witnesses to the kingdom’s history. The halls were wide, polished from years of footsteps, and each one branched off into different chambers of the enormous castle.
They remembered exactly where they had been asked to meet, and so they followed their memory deeper into the main corridor.
As they moved through the hallway, they began to notice several people walking out of a large chamber, heading off in various directions. The guards who had been stationed outside the room were now moving as well, shifting their posts and speaking quietly to one another. That alone was enough to tell them the meeting inside was ending.
Walking past a group of knights, the three of them froze for a fraction of a second. There was one individual walking with his head down, and nearly at the same moment, all three of their noses began to twitch. The scent hit them sharply, familiar, unmistakable, undeniable.
And it wasn’t just them.
The person in front of them lifted his head sharply as his own nose tingled, reacting on instinct.
“Jack?” Gary asked, the word leaving his mouth before he could stop it. Because he could smell it, and the others could too. The person in front of them was a Werewolf. Jack was supposed to be present at the meeting, so it wasn’t a strange assumption. Yet from the descriptions and stories they had heard… the person didn’t match at all.
The man standing before them, the one whose scent hit them first, was not Jack.
It was Galdark.
“You three,” Galdark said, his eyes narrowing. “I know every single person in the Red Wing Pack. You three are outsiders. What are you doing hiding yourselves… in this kingdom!”
His words were sharp, his stance shifting in an instant. Before any explanation could be given, Galdark’s fist tightened, muscles coiling.
He swung at Gary with a speed fueled by instinct and suspicion.
Before the punch could land, Kai reacted. He grabbed Gary by the back of his shirt and yanked him backward, the movement just quick enough to let the fist tear through empty air instead of Gary’s jaw.
“What the heck?” Gary said, stumbling back into Kai. “Why are you attacking us out of the blue?!”
But before Galdark could even respond, Lupus had already moved. His blood surged forward faster than thought. With a roar, he charged toward Galdark. Both hands rose, ready to slam down onto Galdark’s head with full force.
His fists smashed into the floor as Galdark raised an arm to block. The impact was so strong it cracked the stone beneath Lupus’s feet. But Galdark stood firm, unmoved. Lupus looked down in shock. His strike had collided with something hard, a piece of armor wrapped around Galdark’s forearm.
Galdark held one hand above his head defensively. As Lupus stared, the knight’s forearm began to change. He strengthened his fist, and thick black fur spread over his skin. His arm grew in size, muscles expanding, and the armor he wore seemed to shift with him, growing as if alive.
“It seems what I’ve been worried about is true!” Galdark shouted, his voice deepening as his transformation progressed. “I knew Jack was worried this would happen! It seems we have spies in the kingdom!”
Before Lupus could pull back, Galdark threw his fist forward.
His transformed knuckles collided with Lupus’s stomach, and the force launched him straight down the hallway. Lupus flew, his body bouncing off the ground repeatedly as he disappeared into the distance.
Gary’s eyes widened. He turned his head for a brief moment to see where Lupus had landed, and whether he was still conscious. But when Gary turned back, he saw Galdark’s entire body shifting.
His limbs elongated. Fur spread. Bones cracked into new shapes. His snout pushed forward, teeth sharpening. He wasn’t partially transformed anymore.
Galdark had fully become a Werewolf.
“Damn it!” Gary said, heart pounding. “I don’t think he’s going to listen to us!”
“You’re right,” Kai said, baring his teeth. “So we have no choice but to transform!”
The two of them stepped forward, their bodies already beginning to shift. They could see it clearly, the opponent in front of them was strong, stronger than they had expected, stronger than any regular Werewolf they had met here.
So they had no choice.
If they wanted to survive…
If they wanted to stop him…
They had to transform into their Werewolf selves.
Together, the two charged forward.
