Chapter 694: Chapter 694: Who are you?

The sound of water droplets falling on the floor was still fresh. Unfortunately, Eren couldn’t see anything. There was a curtain at the entrance, with only a vague figure visible through it.

The figure was hidden behind the curtain, revealing only the familiar silhouette of Feng Yu.

“I will wait outside.” Eren stepped back, finding it slightly awkward to be here while she was showering, even though she didn’t tell him to leave.

“It’s fine. I am already done.” A beautiful voice came from the other side of the curtain.

Eren saw the silhouette move as Feng Yu grabbed a towel. She wrapped it around her body, making her curves appear less distinct.

The curtain was pulled aside, and Feng Yu walked out. Her hair was still wet, and water droplets trickled down her fair cheeks and slender neck.

Feng Yu didn’t show any awkwardness even as she stood with a simple towel draped over her wet body. She looked at Eren and even walked closer to him.

With her approach, her fresh scent became clearer.

She stopped merely a few feet away from Eren and reached out her hand. Eren subconsciously prepared himself, uncertain of what was happening.

He couldn’t read Feng Yu’s face. She was the kind of person who could do anything without the slightest reaction. He couldn’t even be certain that she wasn’t going to attack him out of nowhere if she knew what he had done in the past.

Although it was an accident, it didn’t change the fact that he had intruded in her courtyard last time. It would have been fine if it was just limited to that, but he even saw her showering.

At that time, there was no curtain there. It was something that Feng Yu had clearly placed there after that incident.

“It was my favourite flower. Are you not going to return it?” Feng Yu’s hand stopped just short of Eren’s chest, her palm faced upwards.

“Or did you already toss it away?” she asked, slightly tilting her head.

‘Is she really not upset? She only wants her flower?’ Eren didn’t know what was going through her mind, but he still did as he was asked.

Since he was already exposed, there was no point in keeping the flower. In any case, it was a useless flower that he took only because it was about to fall with the pot and make a noise. He was in a hurry to run away, so he just took it with him after catching it.

It was taking up space in his inventory for no reason. But it was still good that he hadn’t tossed it aside.

He brought out the flowerpot from his inventory, pretending it was taken out of his spatial storage.

“How did you know it was me? Why didn’t you confront me before?” Eren asked, carefully placing the pot back on the table where it was originally.

Feng Yu walked past Eren, her shoulder brushing against his. Her slim fingers brushed against the flower, which looked the same as it always did. It was as if it had been frozen in time all this while.

She didn’t answer his question. Instead, she asked one of her own.

“Missing for years without a single word. The sect almost declared you dead.” Her voice was steady, but a faint tremor betrayed her relief and confusion.

“Where were you? And more importantly,” she paused, her eyes scanning him from head to toe, sensing the immense yet perfectly contained aura within him, “what happened to you?”

“It’s a long story,” Eren sighed.

“It’s all right. I have time to listen.” Feng Yu’s figure flickered, and she appeared before the bed, facing Eren.

She sat on the soft mattress and rested one leg over the other. Her towel barely came down to her slender thighs, and it moved slightly upward as she sat down. Fortunately, it still covered what it was meant to cover.

Feng Yu waved her hand, and a chair flew toward Eren, landing behind him.

“I have all the time in the world to hear your story. I’m quite curious about the kind of adventures you’ve had.”

The Sect was at war, but the situation was still temporarily stable. Things hadn’t fallen apart to the point that she couldn’t spare one evening, especially to satisfy her curiosity. More importantly, she didn’t find it half bad to talk to Eren.

“Ah…”

Eren went silent. He only said that it was a long story because he wanted her to stop talking about it. It was supposed to be a signal for her to skip past the topic. He didn’t expect her to dig into it even more.

It wasn’t as if he could just tell her that he had killed the Northern Tower Master or that he ended up in the Upper Realm. If she had a link to the Upper Realm, then telling her that he was being chased by them wasn’t a good thing for him.

“Sect Master, do you want me to go to the Southern Continent? I can talk to the Hero Academy and see if we can put an end to this war.”

He again tried to deflect the question by making a lucrative offer. It didn’t matter that he had gained strength. What mattered was his willingness to offer it to solve the sect’s problems.

‘Hurry up and take the offer,’ he thought, but reality was contrary to his expectations.

“We can do that later.”

“The more we delay, the more people will die.”

“If they die, then let them die,” Feng Yu’s tone became cold. Although she wanted to protect the Eastern Continent, it didn’t mean she had become some kind of deity that cared about strangers.

She was still the Sect Master of the Demon Sect. Even the elders of the sect were notorious for treating others’ lives as insignificant.

“What did you do to gain this strength? Who exactly are you?” she asked once more, her tone less affectionate and more interrogative.

“I didn’t think about it in the past. But the more I think about it, something doesn’t add up.” Her eyes narrowed.
