Chapter 693: Chapter 693: Thief

The mesmerizing smile on Feng Yu’s face froze, her expression returning to its previous nonchalance. Yet, she couldn’t completely hide the subtle disturbance beneath her calm exterior.

Although a deep sense of discomfort lingered in her heart, there was also a flicker of happiness. She was happy to see Xiu Ying smiling again.

Ever since Eren went missing, no one had been more lost than Xiu Ying. No matter what Feng Yu did, nothing seemed to change. It was as if Xiu Ying had become a lifeless person who had forgotten how to smile.

It also affected her fighting skills. That’s why Feng Yu hadn’t assigned Xiu Ying to any places that were truly dangerous. She assigned Xiu Ying closer to the Western Border, where attacks were more infrequent.

The strongest heroes were attacking from the Southern Border, so the enemies that attacked the cities near the West were slightly weaker in comparison, making it safer for Xiu Ying.

Although it increased the burden on Feng Yu, she didn’t care. Xiu Ying wasn’t just a powerhouse of the sect, but she was also Feng Yu’s childhood friend.

She took a step forward and appeared right before Eren. She clenched her fist and knocked on Eren’s forehead lightly.

“Do you have any idea how much you made her worry?” she asked.

She didn’t put much force behind the knock, but it was still enough to make a powerful elder feel a pinch of pain. Unfortunately, she was the one who was surprised.

The back of her fingers hurt, and Eren didn’t seem to feel anything. She felt as if she had knocked against the hardest material in the world.

“Cough, if you make her sad again, I’ll have to punish you more harshly.”

Feng Yu was slightly embarrassed. She was supposed to be the stronger one here, yet she couldn’t even make Eren react. It was like a child standing before an adult.

“I will keep that in mind.” Eren rubbed his forehead, feigning being wronged. He also showed a painful reaction, albeit a bit belatedly.

Feng Yu couldn’t help but roll her eyes. It was clear that Eren was simply playing along. He hadn’t felt a thing when she knocked on his forehead.

Still, the corners of her lips crept up. Although it was a delayed reaction, it still protected her dignity before the other Elders.

“Sect Master, it’s not his fault! You can’t punish him.” Xiu Ying couldn’t see that Eren was simply acting. She really believed that Eren was hurt and looked at him with pity.

She puffed her cheeks, glaring at the Sect Master. She was probably the only person in the sect who could react like that before the Sect Master.

Feng Yu let out a sigh, even as a fond smile graced her lips. “See what you’ve done? You’ve barely been back for an hour and you’ve already turned my most reliable commander into a rebellious child.”

She shook her head, though her eyes were soft as she looked at Xiu Ying. “Alright, alright. I won’t ‘punish’ your precious Eren.”

“You must be tired after a long journey. You can rest for now. You can also invite your friends that seem to be waiting on the ship. If you brought them with you, I suppose I can trust you to manage them.”

She didn’t ask Eren a single thing about his past or even about his newfound strength. In front of the other Elders, she didn’t find it right to question him.

Although she was the most eager to see Eren, she barely spent much time with him as she turned around and returned to the sect. She left him with Xiu Ying.

After the Sect Master left, the Elders finally sighed in relief. Even though the Sect Master appeared to be in a good mood, they still hadn’t dared to interfere.

Only after she left, they stepped forward and started greeting Eren as well. After a few polite exchanges, they also returned to the sect.

Xiu Ying brought Eren inside the sect. The sect’s defenses were temporarily disabled for the Holy Empire’s ship that Eren had brought with him.

The ship was allowed to land right before the mountain peak that belonged to Eren.

The tall mountain hadn’t been used in the years since Eren had left, yet it looked the same as it always had. It was as if barely a single day had passed since he left.

“Hah, it feels so relaxing to be back.”

Eren immediately fell on his bed in the room at the edge of the cliff.

This was the place where he had first woken up after coming to this world. He had also fallen off the cliff the moment he took his first step out of the hut.

There was barely any proper furniture here. He had slept in more luxurious rooms during his trips to the Western Continent, Hell, and the Upper Realm, yet the comfort this place brought couldn’t be matched by them.

He fell asleep soon after landing on the bed. Xiu Ying also made her way into his arms. She rested her head on his arm but didn’t sleep. She just watched his sleeping face as if it were her biggest reward.

In the meantime, the people Eren had brought with him came down from the ship. The prisoners were temporarily housed in the small houses on the mountain, and a few guards were stationed to keep an eye on them at all times.

It was only the next day that Eren woke up, finding Xiu Ying had fallen asleep in his arms. He carefully pulled his arm back, taking care not to disturb her.

“How many hours was I asleep?” he asked in a low voice, looking at the back of his arm.

“That’s longer than I thought,” he mumbled after receiving an answer. He quickly changed his clothes and stepped out of his hut.

The first thing he did was check on the Transmigrator of the Northern Continent, who was being kept asleep with a spell.

After confirming that the seals were intact, Eren cast another barrier around the prisoner and left.

“Sect Master?” Eren arrived at the entrance of the Sect Master’s residence.

Even the barriers of the core area couldn’t detect him. There was no alert to the guards, even as Eren reached the most important part of the sect.

“Are you finally going to return my flower pot?” A calm yet mesmerizing voice came from inside the sect. The door opened on its own.

“Flower pot?” Eren frowned, wondering if the Sect Master was confusing him with a maid or something. Why would he bring some flower pot?

“The one you stole when you entered this place last time?” The voice came again.

This time, Eren’s jaws almost dropped. He remembered an embarrassing past, something that he thought the Sect Master didn’t know about.

He was at a loss of words, not knowing what to say next

“You knew about it?” he asked, scratching the back of his head as he entered the courtyard.

“It wasn’t hard to guess,” the voice came again.

Eren followed the voice, that was accompanied by the sound of water droplets falling. He followed the voice, which led him to the same place where he had been when he first entered this place accidentally.

He entered the bedroom of the sect master, and followed the sound of water. His gaze subconsciously turned to the shower room.
