Chapter 935: Chapter 935 Killing The Mutated Zombie

Kisha gave it a sweet, almost mocking smile before drawing her intermediate combat-type Fire Magic Scroll. Seeing the familiar scroll, the mutated zombie’s eyes widened.

She had hoped she wouldn’t need it, but with the zombie wave almost upon them, time was running out. Thanks to Duke’s spear, the mutated zombie couldn’t remove it from its body, leaving it stuck and vulnerable.

Kisha rose higher and higher into the air, putting as much distance as possible between herself, Duke, and the mutated zombie below. The horde surged toward their leader, forming a protective wall around it while stretching their arms skyward, desperate to drag the two of them down.

But the mutated zombie itself could only glare helplessly; Duke’s spear remained firmly lodged in its body, keeping it pinned.

Kisha swiftly cloaked herself and Duke within the shimmering ‘Rainbow Cube’. With her free hand, she slipped off the red string, tore away the wax seal, and unfurled the magic scroll, angling it downward.

Moments later, a blinding blaze appeared in the sky. It wasn’t just a fireball; it was like a miniature sun, molten and radiant, descending with unstoppable force. The surrounding zombies swarmed beneath it, piling onto one another in a desperate attempt to shield the mutated zombie with their bodies.

But the sun-like flame was far too powerful. Even before the horde could reach it, their flesh ignited, their bodies reduced to ash in an instant. No matter how many threw themselves into the flames, they vanished the moment they drew close, leaving only gray dust drifting into the air.

“Hmm… which will last longer? Your army of corpses or my little sun?” Kisha smirked, her eyes glinting with cruel amusement as the scene unfolded below.

Duke groaned softly, beginning to stir from his daze. His head pounded, his vision hazy, but when he forced his gaze downward, what he saw made his breath catch. The massive horde the mutated zombie had summoned was now rushing headlong into annihilation, throwing themselves beneath the descending sphere of blazing fire.

The mutated zombie wailed in agony, its skin blistering and sizzling under the heat as the miniature sun crept closer and closer to the ground.

The swarm was like moths to a flame, sacrificing themselves pointlessly as their bodies ignited and crumbled to ash before they could even reach the blazing core. In truth, neither Duke nor Kisha needed to lift another finger; the sun itself was doing all the work, consuming everything without mercy.

And Kisha knew then, 008 had been right. This scroll truly carried the power to destroy a city. Already, she could see buildings cracking, foundations drying out, and turning brittle under the searing heat. Walls are collapsing, glass windows shattering and melting, and metal steel twisted and dripping like wax. The destruction spread in waves, unstoppable and absolute.

If not for the ‘Rainbow Cube’ shielding them, she and Duke would already be nothing more than drifting ashes.

This only proved how formidable Kisha’s ‘Rainbow Cube’ truly was.

With its final descent, the miniature sun devoured the last of the horde, zombies reduced to ash before they could even touch it. Even the mutated zombie, trapped and shrieking, burned away piece by piece until its life force ebbed into nothing.

“Hubby… your spear…” Kisha’s voice wavered, her eyes fixed on the weapon still lodged in the creature. No matter how resilient it was, the heat was terrifying, enough to melt steel and stone.

“Don’t worry,” Duke said with quiet confidence. “It can withstand this.” He couldn’t explain why, but deep inside, he knew his spear would not melt, no matter how fierce the flames. It might grow unbearably hot, difficult to hold once the sun vanished, but it would endure.

Kisha didn’t press further, simply tightening her hold on him as they watched. Together, they saw the little sun finish its work, reducing the mutated zombie to nothing but drifting ash.

Then— ding! The familiar chime echoed in Kisha’s head, and the translucent notification window flickered into existence before her eyes.

…

With the final chime, her mission officially ended, and her stats reverted to normal. Kisha let out a small chuckle. She had planned so many strategies, yet in the end, the mutated zombie was destroyed with nothing more than a single magic scroll.

Now, as her gaze swept the battlefield, all she saw were crumbling buildings, thick smoke curling into the air, and flames that refused to die out. Below her lay a pile of crystal cores glimmering faintly amid the scorched ruins.

Still wrapped in her ‘Rainbow Cube’, Kisha slowly descended. The air shimmered with heat, like standing above a giant frying pan. She didn’t dare release the barrier. Instead, when she drew close enough, she used her telekinesis to gather the cores from the ground.

There was no point in summoning her Scarlet Bees; in this suffocating inferno, they would wither instantly. The lingering heat wasn’t the only danger; she was certain that the fireball’s descent had burned away much of the oxygen. Anyone stepping into this place now would risk not only being scorched alive but also suffocating in the airless void left behind.

After gathering all the crystal cores and surveying the devastation around them, Kisha’s attention shifted to Duke. Unlike her, she hadn’t suffered much; the mutated zombie’s mental pressure barely touched her thanks to her far higher ‘Mental Capacity’. But Duke was different. His own resistance was strong, yet not quite enough to escape unscathed.

“Are you okay? How are you feeling?” Kisha asked softly, worry evident in her eyes as she studied him.

“Um… I’m just a little out of sorts, but I’ll be fine,” Duke said.

Kisha’s gaze drifted to the Kratos’ Spear. It hadn’t melted under the little sun’s fiery flame, but its surface glowed a dangerous red, still radiating heat. Beside it, the mutated zombie’s crystal core gleamed faintly. With a flick of her will, Kisha used her telekinesis to draw both the core and the spear toward her.

The crystal core pulsed with a metallic luster, a Level 7 Mental-type. She handed the spear back so Duke could store it in his space ring, then kept the core for herself. Only she could safely absorb it.

Not only was its rank dangerously high, carrying enough virus to overwhelm most awakened ability users, but it was also a mental-type crystal core, which was perfectly suited for her abilities. Anyone else attempting to refine it would almost certainly end up as nothing more than another mindless zombie.

“We’ve got a great haul this time.” Kisha grinned as she gathered up the spoils of battle. But her attack had left the surrounding buildings unstable, and the collapsing structures echoed loudly through the area.

The mutated zombie had just been dealt with, so no one controls the zombie horde anymore, and the noise drew the attention of the horde at the far edge of the battlefield. Hearing the rumble, dozens of zombies broke away from the shelter’s side and charged toward Kisha’s position.

Reacting quickly, Kisha pulled Duke with her as she lifted them both higher into the air. By the time the zombies arrived, neither she nor Duke was in sight. Instead, the horde swarmed into the collapsing ruins, only to be crushed beneath the falling debris.

With the threat contained, Kisha and Duke descended once more, returning to provide support for the shelter.

Before long, Duke unleashed his ‘Lightning Rain’ and ‘Fire Meteor’, while Kisha deployed her ‘Rainbow Cube’ and manipulated the massive trucks on the road to crush the zombies below. Working together, they swiftly wiped out the remaining horde.

Not long after, the battle for Maple Leaf Town’s shelter came to an end. Most of the surrounding zombies had been eliminated, while the rest ran back from where they came from, but one problem remained: the part of town reduced to ruins.

That area had effectively become a black zone. The buildings there, weakened by Kisha’s blazing Little Sun, were brittle and on the verge of collapse. Anyone who ventured too close risked being buried under the crumbling debris.

If they weren’t careful, they might trigger the collapse of buildings that still stood tall but whose foundations were already brittle, like houses of cards waiting for the slightest push to crumble. Kisha made a mental note to warn the survivors about it.

But first, she and Duke descended from the sky once more. Their return was met with an eruption of cheers and cries, as though heroes had come home. The people wept with relief; they had survived a nightmare many believed would be their last day alive.

Seeing Kisha, Duke, and their team drive back the horde filled them with joy so overwhelming that, for some, the last of their strength gave out. One by one, exhausted survivors collapsed to the ground, fainting from sheer relief.
