Chapter 933: Chapter 933 Kisha Was Hit
Kisha’s heart twisted at the sight of him, his skin already blistered despite his high defenses. She wanted to protest so he would stop covering her with his body, but luckily, her ‘Healing Dome’ was already working, slowly knitting away the burns on both of them. The pain lingered, sharp and raw, yet at least their injuries weren’t worsening.
Still, the fact that such devastation had come from her own inscribed magic scroll left her thrilled. This was only a Beginner-grade combat magic scroll, and yet it unleashed destruction surpassing the abilities of most awakened ability users.
She remembered the mana it had drained from her when she inscribed it, but even so, she had never imagined its true power until now.
Then, as if the destruction the fireball created wasn’t enough, almost all the metal around them has melted and the glass windows and doors of the building also exploded due to the intense heat while the walls and aspalt cracked, Kisha didn’t even know how long would this fireball would last, but more than that, she was amazed that the mutated zombie was still screeching in pain inside the fireball without being cooked
Screech!!!
After a moment, the fireball shrank until it finally fizzled out, yet the mutated zombie was still standing, like an indestructible cockroach. Smoke curled from its body, its skin scorched in patches.
The blast had only made its hideous face even more grotesque: half-melted, with one eyeball bulging from its socket, jagged teeth bared, and fragments of bone exposed through seared flesh.
Its left arm was reduced to a nearly skeletal hand, its right foot in a similar state. And yet, despite its ruined form, the creature didn’t falter; if anything, it looked even more enraged.
“Grahhh!” It shrieked again, a sound that seemed to summon more reinforcements as if it hungered for Kisha’s death. But more than that, it seemed ready to act on its own rather than merely relying on the surrounding zombies.
Duke slowly released Kisha, his eyes scanning the aftermath of the magic scroll’s power. The devastation it had wrought was staggering, nearly transforming the entire area into a desolate wasteland.
“Host, that’s why I told you no…” 008 said weakly. It knew using the magic scroll on the mutated zombie was almost a waste; the magic scroll could have been sold for 5,000 system points.
More importantly, 008 understood that it likely wouldn’t defeat the mutated zombie and might even provoke it further, potentially putting Kisha in danger. After all, she didn’t yet realize how devastating the firepower of her own inscribed magic scrolls could be.
“Oh… so you were trying to stop me because of the aftermath? Why does it even have this much power?” Kisha asked, slowly being released by Duke as she steadied herself on her feet. The blisters on her skin and on Duke’s were already starting to heal, even without the help of the vial of blue liquid.
“Host, it’s all thanks to the ancient, arcane magic circle you used to inscribe your magic scrolls. Not only is it difficult to master because it’s a lost magical art, but it’s also incredibly complex; it requires precise mana control, understanding of units, cardinal directions, and much more.”
“Using it on a beginner scroll is impressive; though still labeled ‘beginner,’ its real firepower is already comparable to a third-circle magic spell.”
“But the mutated zombie has exceptionally high defenses. A mere third-circle magic spell wouldn’t be enough, and that’s why I stopped you. I didn’t want you to waste the scroll only to make the zombie angrier and risk it turning on you.”
“However… if you could inscribe an intermediate-level scroll, that might just be enough to incinerate this ugly creature,” 008 said, its tone pointed and filled with disgust toward the mutated zombie.
“Why didn’t you say so earlier?” Kisha asked, clearly exasperated.
“Host, you didn’t give me a chance,” 008 replied, sounding aggrieved.
“Oh!” Kisha’s anger immediately fizzled. She realized she hadn’t given 008 the opportunity to explain and had even called it a cheapskate. Now she felt like the fool and knew it was her own fault.
“But wait… I’m already an intermediate inscriber. I’ve even made some intermediate scrolls. Maybe we could try one?” she said, her hope rising.
Then she paused, thinking it through. If she brought out another magic scroll, the mutated zombie would surely be on guard, having already seen what her magic scroll could do.
And now that it had grown intelligent enough to understand threats, it wouldn’t just stand there while she opened another combat-type magic scroll aimed at it. Even with an intermediate-level magic scroll in hand, she realized she couldn’t use it so easily.
“Agreed, Host. Perhaps you could try distracting it, or even pinning it, so it can’t escape before using another magic scroll. Your intermediate magic scroll could be equivalent to a fourth- or fifth-circle magic spell.”
“With this ugly zombie’s nearly indestructible body and high defenses, we might finally be able to take it down,” 008 suggested, offering ideas for their best chance at victory.
“Wait… fourth-to fifth-circle magic spell? Is it really that strong?” Kisha asked, surprised.
“Yes, Host, this is just my humble assumption, but if we really tried, it might even reach sixth- or seventh-circle magic spell in strength with the power of the arcane magic circle. It wouldn’t be impossible,” 008 said, its nose pointed arrogantly at the sky. “And that level of magic would be more than enough to annihilate that mutated zombie.”
It added for clarity, ensuring Kisha understood, “After all, a sixth- to seventh-circle magic spell can only be crafted by a mage of the same rank. Such mages are rare, and their power is immense, strong enough to destroy an entire city of elite warriors.”
008 knew Kisha came from a different world, so it wanted to make sure its words weren’t just empty boasting, but actually conveyed the magnitude of what it was describing.
“That powerful?!” Kisha nearly yelped in shock. She could already picture what 008 was describing. Although her world was very different from the fantasy realm where mages existed, her studies of mana had given her insight into many aspects of that world.
She had never fully grasped the true scale of such power, but now, with this understanding, she could clearly imagine it, and wow, it left her utterly astonished.
Kisha immediately checked her sales channel. Luckily, there was still one intermediate-level combat-type magic scroll available. She quickly canceled its listing; she needed it for herself.
Most of the intermediate magic scrolls she had listed were nearly sold out, so she was fortunate to reclaim this one before it went to another buyer. Even the beginner magic scrolls were almost gone. This time, 008 didn’t stop her from taking the intermediate scroll from the store.
“Go kill it, Host! 008 is rooting for you!!!” 008 cheered, then fell silent, not wanting to distract Kisha from the fight.
Kisha stood poised, her enhanced daggers glowing with her aura as they hovered around her like fish swimming in a circle. She cast a provocative smile at the mutated zombie, which bristled with anger, ready to pounce.
Then it lunged. With lightning-fast reflexes, Kisha immediately shoved Duke out of the way. The mutated zombie’s body became a blur as it closed the distance. Kisha commanded her floating daggers to strike, but the creature easily deflected them.
The daggers froze midair as she tried to redirect them, yet it was no use; the mutated zombie flashed directly in front of her.
Kisha raised both arms to shield herself, coming face-to-face with the monstrous creature.
“Fuck!” she shouted, before being sent flying.
“Kisha!” Duke shouted, rushing toward her the moment he stood on his feet. He had seen everything with perfect clarity, and all he could do was widen his eyes in shock.
Kisha had pushed him away to keep him out of harm’s way. If she had ignored him, she might have been able to evade the attack herself, but she hadn’t. She made sure Duke was safe first before attempting to block the strike.
Duke felt his hands and feet go icy cold, as if his heart had stopped, watching helplessly as Kisha was sent flying.
The force of the impact sent Kisha crashing into the wall with a deafening crash, causing it to crumble. A cloud of dust engulfed the area, hiding her from view.
“Kisha!” Duke shouted again, rushing forward, but before he could get close, the mutated zombie flashed into the dust-filled space. It didn’t give Kisha a single moment to recover, unleashing a relentless barrage of punches, scratches, and erratic strikes, each hitting in rapid succession.
Duke’s eyes turned red with fury as he gripped his spear and leaped toward the mutated zombie, striking at its back. But no matter how hard he pushed, the spear didn’t penetrate even an inch. The creature ignored him entirely, as if he were nothing more than an ant.
