Capítulo 808: The Kidnapping of Sarah

The moment I stepped out of the coffee shop, my phone buzzed violently in my pocket, the screen flashing with an urgent red alert from SERA. I pulled it out, my fingers tightening around the device as I read the message:

“Master…. Officer Sarah is in danger. Javier’s men are en route to eliminate her. ETA: 7 minutes. They are armed.”

A slow, calculating smile spread across my face.

Perfect.

This wasn’t just a threat—it was an opportunity in disguise. A chance to shatter her doubts, to force her to see the truth. To make her realize who her real enemies were—and who had been protecting her all along.

I could have summoned the Shadow Guards. A single command, and they would have descended on her house like a storm, dismantling Javier’s men before they even set foot inside.

But that wouldn’t have the same impact.

No. This time, I’d handle it myself.

I slipped into the darkest corner of the alley, where the flickering neon signs barely penetrated the gloom.

With a thought, I activated my invisibility, my body fading from sight like smoke in the wind. Then, with a surge of will, I lifted into the air, telekinetic energy carrying me forward like a silent predator.

The city blurred beneath me, the glow of streetlights and the distant hum of traffic fading into insignificance as I soared toward Sarah’s location. Below me, a convoy of black SUVs cut through the streets, their headlights slicing through the darkness like knives. I hovered above them, my AI Lens activating as I scanned the vehicles.

Javier’s men.

Every single one of them.

I followed, a phantom in the night, as they turned onto Sarah’s street, their engines roaring like beasts closing in for the kill. They screeched to a halt in front of her house—a modest Mexican home, its whitewashed walls and terracotta roof looking fragile under the harsh glare of their headlights.

My chest tightened.

Not because I feared for her.

But because I knew what was coming.

I landed silently on the roof of a neighboring house, crouching as I watched the men pile out of the cars, their boots crunching on the gravel. They didn’t bother with subtlety—three of them kicked in the front door, the wood splintering under their force, while the others fanned out, guns drawn.

And then I saw her.

Sarah was in the living room, curled on the couch, her face streaked with dried tears, her plastered arms resting uselessly in her lap. She jolted upright as the door exploded inward, her eyes wide with terror, her breath catching in her throat.

“Who the hell are you?!” she demanded, her voice raw with fury, but I could see the fear beneath it—the tremble in her hands, the way her body tensed.

One of the men—a burly thug with a jagged scar running down his cheek—chuckled, stepping forward. His gun gleamed under the dim light as he twirled it in his hand. “You’ll find out soon, puta.” His voice was cold, mocking. “Boss wants to meet you. Personally.”

Sarah’s jaw clenched, her voice shaking but defiant. “Did Jack send you?” She spat the words like they were poison, her eyes burning with accusation.

I almost laughed.

This stubborn, beautiful fool.

The man didn’t react, just smirked, his yellowed teeth glinting in the dim light. “You’ll find out soon.” He pulled out his gun, the metal glinting ominously. “Now move.”

Sarah didn’t protest. She stood, her plastered arms making every movement clumsy, but her chin was held high, her eyes blazing with defiance. She stepped forward, and the men closed in around her, shoving her toward the cars.

“Get your hands off me!” she snapped, but they ignored her, pushing her into the backseat.

I watched, my fingers twitching with the urge to intervene.

But I waited.

Because this was better.

Let her see them. Let her hear them. Let her realize—when it was almost too late—that I wasn’t the monster she thought I was.

The convoy roared to life, tires spitting gravel as they peeled away from the house. I leapt into the air, my invisibility holding as I followed, a silent shadow above them.

They didn’t blindfold her.

Good.

Let her see where they were taking her.

The warehouse loomed ahead, a rotting skeleton of corrugated metal and broken windows, its rusted doors hanging open like a maw. The cars screeched to a halt, and the men dragged Sarah out, shoving her toward the entrance.

She stumbled, but caught herself, her voice ringing out into the night—raw, desperate, furious.

“JACK!”

Her scream was a blade to my chest.

“I know it’s you! Come out, you coward! You killed my brother, and now you’re here to finish me off?!” Her voice cracked, but she didn’t stop. “Show yourself! Face me!”

I stood beside Sarah, invisible, my body a silent shadow in the dim glow of the warehouse lights. My gaze locked onto the man sitting centered on a rickety chair, his posture relaxed, his hands steepled like a king holding court. Javier.

His face was half-hidden in the shadows, but I recognized him instantly—the cold, calculating eyes, the scar running from his temple to his jaw, the arrogant tilt of his lips. He exuded power, the kind that corrupted everything it touched.

Sarah stepped forward, her plastered arms trembling, but her chin held high, her voice a whip crack in the stifling silence.

“Tell your boss to come meet me!” she snarled, her eyes blazing with defiance. “If he wants to kill me, let him face me himself!”

I glanced sideways at her, my chest tightening. She still thought I was the enemy. That I was the one pulling the strings. The irony burned like acid in my veins.

Javier’s eyes narrowed, his voice a venomous hiss.

“Bitch.” The word dripped with contempt. “You’re about to die, and you’re still ignoring the man who holds your life in his hands?”

Sarah didn’t flinch. “I don’t care who you are. If you want me dead, do it yourself.”

Javier leaned forward, his voice a low growl. “Don’t you remember who I am?”

Sarah’s lips curled in disgust. “I don’t need to know a criminal like you. A dog who follows others like a pathetic lapdog.”

Javier’s face twisted in rage, his fingers clenching around the arms of the chair. “I don’t need to waste my anger on a dead bitch.”

He stood, his voice dropping to a cold, mocking tone.

“You think you can get away after seizing my product?” He chuckled, the sound hollow and cruel. “I asked you nicely to let it go. But you refused.” He shrugged, his eyes gleaming with sadistic amusement.

“That forced me to take action myself.” He clicked his tongue, shaking his head. “Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. I’m sorry for your bastard brother…” His voice dripped with false sympathy. “He never knew it was his sister who killed him.”

Sarah’s breath hitched, her face draining of color. “What are you talking about?” Her voice was a whisper, but her eyes burned with fury.
