Martial Arts Worlds - Chapter 772
Chapter 772: Dinner at Masters
With a bottle of alcohol in hand, Robert Masters pushed open a door.
“You’re back! Where the hell did you wander off to?”
A woman with her hands on her hips asked as she glared at him.
She was Robert’s daughter, but she felt more like her father’s babysitter, as whenever they looked away, he was always off to do dumb shit.
“A drink!”
Robert Masters grinned and showed a bottle of alcohol.
“…You have a bar here!”
His daughter cried out.
There was a nice-looking bar at the corner of the room, and they even had their very own bartender.
There were close to fifteen people sitting all around the room—mostly in black couches—and they were all members of Masters’ family.
Masters family was the greatest family in New Rakuya, and they’ve always had at least one Martial King alive.
Having Martial King in your family was a great honor.
“And I also happened to meet this young man here!”
Robert Masters turned around, and following him, Kiernan entered the room in his hoodie, and maskless.
They all turned to him, and it didn’t take them even a second to recognize him.
“W-What?”
“Kiernan Hunter?!”
“Oh my god!”
Kiernan smiled and nodded at them—he quickly got surrounded by the Masters family’s younger generation, who asked for autographs—Robert had to calm them down.
“…My name is Laura Masters. It is an honor to meet you.”
Robert’s daughter humbly bowed, and she dropped her previous act, as she couldn’t possibly talk to Kiernan in the same way she was talking to her father.
Kiernan was also Martial King and undoubtedly a greater talent than her father, and it wouldn’t take long for him to leave him in the dust.
While Robert Masters was Grand President, Kiernan’s influence was greatest because of his talent and future possibilities.
“Nice to meet you.”
Kiernan shook her hand and greeted other members of the Masters family, making a great impression on everyone he met.
They quickly accepted him and already started talking with him naturally, as if he were their old friend.
“Let’s sit by the bar!”
Robert dragged Kiernan to the bar, and the bartender gave them two shots of the most expensive stuff they had on the shelf.
“This is good stuff! Try it!”
Robert gulped it down in one go, and Kiernan looked at the shot glass for a moment before taking a sip.
It was really good.
“…It is really strong.”
Kiernan said.
“Yeah, haha! It is really hard to get drunk as Martial King. Which is why we have to drink this expensive stuff to get even a little bit tipsy!”
Robert Masters said with a laugh.
“…I apologize for my father’s behavior. He has only two things in his mind—golf and alcohol.”
Laura said with a twitching eyebrow.
She didn’t want Robert to embarrass the Masters family name in front of someone as important as Kiernan.
“You have to enjoy the small pleasures of life. What hobbies do you have, Kiernan?”
Robert asked.
“…I don’t think I really have any. I would say martial arts, but that is not really a hobby when that is the only thing I do.”
Kiernan said.
“You have to find something, or you’ll get crazy. I know some old-timers say that you have to breathe, eat, and shit martial arts to reach the top, but I don’t agree.
“You’ll get burned out and get stuck in the Bottleneck of the Weak. You have to find a balance!”
Robert Masters said.
“I’ll take your words into consideration.”
Kiernan said.
In that moment, the crowd started cheering as the first round of the second day was about to start.
Fighters from 32 different schools entered the arena and arrived in their rings.
…
The second day flew by, and the quarterfinals just wrapped up, and the semifinalists were decided for the third and final day.
Karuza High breezed past all of their opponents and reached the third day, and their momentum seemed unstoppable.
“…Karuza High sure is hard to beat.”
Robert Masters said with a laugh.
His cheeks were slightly red, as he had been drinking all day and finally got drunk after many drinks.
Kiernan nodded.
He believed this year’s Karuza High team was the most balanced it had ever been, as the three main fighters were Martial Champions and two reserve fighters were High Stage Martial Fighters.
When he and Julian were still in Karuza High, they really didn’t have a balanced team, and they had to carry the entirety of the team.
“What are you planning to do after this, Kiernan?”
Robert asked.
“…I don’t know, sightsee maybe. I’ve never really seen everything that Tiamut has to offer, so now that I am not participating, I have time to do something else.”
Kiernan said.
“What about joining us for dinner over at the Masters family villa? It would be my honor to have you there.
“I also have a golf course over there, so we can go play a few rounds if you’d like.”
Robert said.
“…Sure.”
Kiernan said.
He didn’t think there was any reason to refuse, and it didn’t hurt to get to know Grand President Robert better.
“Nice!”
Robert smacked his hands at the table.
…
Tiamut, Masters Family villa.
In the grand dining hall, a long table was spread with all kinds of food from every corner of New Rakuya.
The smell of the food tickled everyone’s noses, and the members of the Masters family sat down to eat.
It was loud with laughter and chatter. The servants were bustling about, making sure everyone had everything they needed to enjoy the feast.
Robert Masters sat at the end of the table, where he always sat as the head of the family, and this time around, Kiernan sat right beside him.
Nobody had ever been high enough in status to eat next to him, but now there was.
“What do you think about New Rakuya, Kiernan?”
Robert asked as he ate with one hand and drank with another. He seemed like a gluttonous beast.
“It’s wonderful. I mean, it is my home, and I hold it very close to my heart.”
Kiernan said.
“…Hard to believe that New Rakuya was a war-torn country a few centuries ago, isn’t it?”
Robert said with a smile.
“Indeed.”
Kiernan replied and also enjoyed the food laid before him.
