Martial Arts Worlds - Chapter 770
Chapter 770: Karuza High’s Legacy
The next morning, Kiernan, Aoi, and their students started their road trip back to Montrael which lasted one whole day.
When they arrived back in Montrael, their normal daily routine continued, and they also still kept updated on the goings-on of the Martial Arts Meet.
Yokai Dojo reached day three until they unfortunately met a really strong dojo and lost in a grueling fashion.
There were also two new members of the Yellow rank in Martial Redemption Dojo—Alpha and Shiro.
While Lumian wanted to take Orange rank test, Kiernan didn’t think he was ready for it yet, so it was postponed for another time.
The life moved on.
Whenever Kiernan wasn’t training his students, he was making money elsewhere, and slowly he returned back to being a millionaire.
However, that money didn’t last long, as he immediately started to purchase more land.
There was a small hotel in Action Street that was scheduled to be demolished, and Kiernan was planning to build a new apartment complex in that spot.
On Thursday evening, the government actually came to check on Martial Redemption and saw that it was starting to form into a decent place to learn.
Thus, Martial Redemption officially graduated from the Zero Star dojo to the One Star dojo.
It wasn’t a huge achievement, as it wasn’t hard to become a One Star dojo, but it was a great start.
They also started to get a few more students as the word started to spread about their dojo.
Friday rolled around, and it was an interesting day for Kiernan for one reason.
New Rakuya’s nationals were happening this weekend, and he was planning to watch this time around through television.
…
Friday evening.
“…Huff! Huff! Huff!”
“…Come on, you can do it, Shiro, ten more push-ups!”
“…Harder!”
At the yard of the dojo, the students were hard in training, and there wasn’t a single moment of quietness.
Alpha, Lumian, and Shiro were training at the corner, as they have all gotten pretty close, so they were training together.
Kiernan looked at his students through the upstairs window and then heard something from the television resting on top of his desk.
“…Welcome to the annual New Rakuya’s nationals. It has been rumored for these nationals to be closer than they ever have been!
“After the recent domination by Tiamut, and then Karuza High, it is impossible to predict who will win this year!”
Kiernan heard the commentator’s voice and sat down on the chair behind the desk.
“…The level of New Rakuya’s youth competition has skyrocketed in the last few years, and surprisingly, we have ten Martial Champions participating this year!
“I remember when there was only one, and that was Johan Yeager three years ago!”
Kiernan drank some beer, as this was his “cheat day,” and he wanted to relax after a long while and just watch some martial arts competition.
He was, obviously, cheering for Karuza High.
“…Exactly, New Rakuya has changed drastically over a couple of years, and I’ve heard a rumor that there might be even twenty Martial Champions participating next year.
“The government has also been keeping a close eye on New Rakuya, and there are even some government representatives here, watching the nationals.
“Could it be that New Rakuya is becoming a Tier 3 country? It is exciting times to be a New Rakuya citizen!”
After a while, as the commentators kept talking, the Round of 256 started, and Kiernan had to use his phone to find any video feed of Karuza High’s fight.
Since they were reigning and defending champions, it wasn’t that hard to find, and he soon found one.
Karuza High was the number one ranked school in the nation, and thus their first opponent was one of the weaker schools.
However, it seemed like that weak school managed to produce one great talent in the High Stage Martial Fighter rank.
Still, Karuza High had three Martial Champions in their team, and thus, they won without a sweat, and advanced to Round of 128.
“Nice.”
Kiernan smiled, and sipped on the beer.
“How’s it going?”
Aoi walked into the office, went behind Kiernan, and rested her head on his shoulder, looking at the television screen.
“Karuza High just won their first match.”
Kiernan said.
“It looks like one of Karuza High’s members is having an interview!”
Aoi pointed at the screen.
She recognized him as a Karuza High student because of the beautiful white jersey with black flowers.
It was so recognizable jersey that even someone not really paying attention to New Rakuya would know it.
It was all because of Kiernan, and videos of him wearing that jersey had spread across the internet after his victory over Beast Prince Arazimir.
Kiernan turned up the volume slightly to hear what he had to say.
“…First of all, congratulations on your dominating victory in the first round. You were the starting fighter and defeated their first two fighters before you changed fighters to conserve your energy for the following rounds.
“How did you feel in the first round?”
The interviewer asked.
“I am, yeah. It is my first nationals, and I was just trying to pace myself and stay calm throughout the fight. I just didn’t want to make any mistakes, so I avoided edges.”
The brown-haired student said.
Kiernan thought he looked somewhat familiar and must’ve seen him in the martial arts club over in Karuza High a couple of times.
He never talked to him, though.
“…You and your friends have big shoes to fill now that Kiernan Hunter is no longer there. Do you think you and your friends can match those expectations?”
The interviewer asked.
“They mentioned you!”
Aoi said with a smile.
“Hah.”
Kiernan wryly smiled.
“I mean, yeah… Kiernan is a legend, and there is nothing we can do that can live up to that, but to honor his legacy, we must do our best.
“He made Karuza High the powerhouse that it is today, and there have been worries since he left that we wouldn’t be able to maintain that level of success.
“But I know that we can do it.”
The brown-haired student said, and the interview then ended, and the television shifted to show highlights of the first round.
“Do you miss nationals?”
Aoi asked with a smile.
“…I actually do.”
Kiernan said with a smile.
