Chapter 769: One-Sided

“Goob job, master!”

Cleo said with a big smile.

“You completely dominated the match.”

Lumian said with admiration.

When he witnessed Kiernan use Iron Style, he kept realizing just how long a path was ahead of him to reach that level of skill.

He couldn’t understand how Kiernan mastered something as difficult as Iron Style in just a couple of short years.

If he didn’t know better, he would think that Iron Style was the result of an entire lifetime of trial and error.

‘I guess this is what separates geniuses from the rest of us.’

Lumian thought.

“Just lucky. My opponent’s best days are past him, and he is only fighting with the last fumes that he had left.”

Kiernan said.

Girard, despite being a Martial Legend, was already old, and he didn’t have that much time left in his life.

This was why Girard had been actively looking for successors to take his place, as he believed that he wouldn’t be in this world much longer.

This might very well be his last Martial Arts Meet.

“Next fighters!”

The referee shouted.

“…Nichols.”

Girard said, and sat down on a chair that was given to him by his student. He looked very fragile and weak.

His dislocated shoulder was throbbing in pain, and he took some heavy medication to numb the ache.

From East Side Dojo’s side, Nichols took the stage, and across from him, Omicron stood with a calm look on his face.

This seemed like a very one-sided matchup.

Nichols was Martial Champion while Omicron was just a Martial Recruit. This was just the difference between two dojos.

East Side Dojo had lasted for a while, and thus, they had many strong students in their ranks.

The match started, and in an instant, Nichols completely dominated the match while Omicron tried staying on the defensive.

He hoped that Kiernan’s 550 earned points would be enough to get them victory as long as they defended.

However, his defenses weren’t strong enough.

Nichols’ punches broke through, and Omicron felt like he was hit by a speeding car with each punch.

The three minutes went by.

[Martial Redemption Dojo: 550 Points]

[East Side Dojo: 600 Points]

They lost the lead.

“…I am sorry, master.”

Omicron said as he limped back and felt quite ashamed at his lack of strength.

“Don’t be.”

Kiernan said.

He already had a feeling how this match would go, and honestly, it wasn’t going to get any easier after seeing who East Side Dojo had left.

Next, Alpha took the stage, and his opponent was another Martial Champion, Recress. They began their fight.

Alpha opted for hit-and-run tactics, but his speed wasn’t simply enough, and Recress completely dominated the entirety of the match.

[Martial Redemption: 550 Points]

[East Side Dojo: 990 Points]

Cleo was next to go, and her opponent was Martial Master, Otis.

It was a pretty boring fight, as Cleo simply couldn’t do anything against Otis, and it looked like an adult play fighting against a child.

The difference was still enormous between the two.

[Martial Redemption: 550 Points]

[East Side Dojo: 1400 Points]

Lumian fought next, and he was fighting as hard as he humanly could. He didn’t matter if he got injured as long he hurt his opponent more.

However, with his opponent being just so incredibly more stronger, Lumian was quickly overpowered and defeated.

[Martial Redemption: 550 Points]

[East Side Dojo: 2005 Points]

Lastly, it was Shiro’s turn, and his opponent was East Side Dojo’s ace, Martial Grandmaster who went by the name of Ryuji.

Shiro gave a proper fight for the first minute, but then Ryuji’s power became too much handle, and he kept losing ground.

The last two minutes of the fight wasn’t pretty to look at and Shiro was pretty battered after the fight was over.

It was the worst defeat of his life so far.

[Martial Redemption: 550 Points]

[East Side Dojo: 2355 Points]

“Match is over, the winner is East Side Dojo!”

The referee announced.

On the big screen, the first match went to East Side Dojo, and they were celebrating while Martial Redemption’s students looked sullen.

They hated to lose, but they were still far too young and weak to even think about winning!

‘…Yes, get frustrated. Losing sucks. Remember this feeling, and make sure it will never happen again.’

Kiernan thought to himself.

He remembered that his biggest improvements came after losing, and he was sure that his students would become even more determined after facing defeat.

The next match started—it was a game called Blind Fighting—where fighters had to fight without their sense of vision.

Of course, East Side Dojo had a huge advantage, as their senses had evolved further than Martial Redemption’s.

It was because they were approaching the peak of humanity, the Martial King rank, and thus their senses evolved after each rank.

In this, masters didn’t compete, and it was all students, which was why the match was even more one-sided.

Martial Redemption suffered their second loss, and they officially lost the first round and thus were out of the Martial Arts Meet.

With a frustrated expression, Cleo and the rest left.

Kiernan stayed a little bit longer to shake hands with Girard and then also left.

On the walk back to the cottage, nobody really talked, as they were still trying to swallow the bitter taste of loss.

There were also other dojos also walking back to their cottage after their loss. All looking sullen and defeated.

“Ah… losing sucks!”

Shiro sprawled on the porch bench.

“Could there have been any chance for us to win?”

Lumian asked with his arms crossed.

“Haha, nope. Not unless we took some Power Drugs beforehand.”

Shiro said jokingly.

“Are we leaving already, master?”

Cleo asked.

“We’ll stay till tomorrow and leave in the morning.”

Kiernan said.

“…How did it go?”

In that moment, Aoi came over to them, and after seeing the expressions on the faces of the students, it wasn’t hard to guess what happened.

“We lost.”

Kiernan said with a sigh.

Losing was a foreign feeling to him, but it also made him just even more determined to make his dojo the strongest there ever was.
